Watching December 1995 and I have a few thoughts.
I loved the set-up at the Reardon boarding house. Sad it disappeared before the end of 97. It wouldn't have been a bad idea to bring it back when everyone was living at the Beacon hotel. Surely it wouldn't have cost that much to have a living room/kitchen set and put a few characters in that house.
Kimberly J. Brown was a lovely child actress and I really enjoyed her 2006 brief return. I really wish they had brought her back full-time. I know people were bitching she looked too young (to have been with Jeffrey no less) but it's nonsense. Marah is one character that was really missing in the last years. Outside of Lizzie, they were short on legacy kids (Marina was not popular and let's not talk about Daisy).
I loved that Hart. Much better than Grillo who was miscast I feel and not a very good actor, at least on GL. Why did they fire him? Is the actor the one who went on to bash the show for that? Killing off Hart was a dubious mistake, given Zaslow had died why kill off Roger's only son? This would have prevented that weird Sebastian thing years later. Hart could have easily been recast, although I suppose we'd have ended up with someone like RPG in the role or something. This move really hindered the Thorpe/Marler clan. Actually saying Hart was alive after all when they brought back Dinah would have been believable, but maybe we'd have gotten something really convoluted like Jeffrey is Hart.
I'm surprised Melissa Hayden never worked more after GL. It looked as though she was the type of soap actress who would make it big, maybe in a sitcom. I wonder how Nola/Ed might have worked.
Marj was on point at that time, I don't know why she felt so different after her time at AMC. Her & Nick were such an interesting mother/son relationship I'm not surprised AMC pulled a repeat. I love all the families in Springfield but the Spauldings will always have a special place in my heart.
The Marian Crane saga while Passions-like was something different. Guilty pleasure trashy storyline. Why not!

If I didn't hate everything Santos before then (and I did), I hated everything Santos after then.

The worst part was that Nancy St Alban had chemistry with both Daniel Cosgrove and Frank Dicopoulous, more than with whoever played Danny, so the Santos plague COULD HAVE faded just like San Cristobull but didn't.

GRRRRRRR.....

I had a lot of fun last Saturday watching about half of the Bauer DVD. What a marvelous experience it was watching the episodes in chronological order. I would kill to be able to see everything from 1975-1982. It wasn't until the 1987 episode that I felt there were now so many people playing vitals parts that I just did not recognize from the previous 14 years, which made it very clear that the show had moved on and was creating a whole new set. Still, there was a lot of great stuff. I can't wait to binge watch the rest this weekend.

Y'all are gonna leave my Santos clan alone! :(

I loved Danny and Tony. I do agree though I didn't like them shooting up the Bauer kitchen. That kitchen, that house was sacred ground and shouldn't've been disrespected like that.

When it comes to NSA, I hated her as Michelle. She was too whiny for my taste and looked too old to play Michelle. I always wished they would've cast another actress in the role b/c NSA was not it.

This was LOATHSOME. I was furious that TPTB would be so callous, clueless, and nasty.

Fortunately, their next equally brilliant stunt, to have a nun raped by a herd of goats, was rejected by the network. ((Roll eyes))

While the show started to unravel in 1983, and was pretty much unwatchable throughout the rest of the 1980s and then again from the mid-1990s until it was axed, we had from 1937 to 1982 of generally superior entertainment. That in itself is a miracle, and good reason to remember this gem fondly.

I miss my show.

    • That was such a dark story. I never liked Swamp girl after that. And then the dating your cousin thing. I think wasn’t Max in a triangle with two of his cousins?
    • Thank you, @j swift.  I'm probably more sympathetic to Draper Scott than most audience members are -- even though I'm absolutely CRAZY about Ann Williams & her bizarre Margo Huntington character

The more I watch these episodes -- and I've watched several of them a zillion times, I'm ashamed to admit -- you realize there's a WHOLE lot of passive-aggressive hostility brewing inside Margo Huntington about Draper.  She wants to take April AWAY from him and recreate the childhood that she never got to experience with April, because of the adoption 25 years ago.  Draper has sense enough to realize how heartless and vindictive Margo really is about other people's lives and their feelings, but he bites his tongue rather than poison his wife's mind about how horrible her mother really is.  And I admire him for that.  He's a sweet boy.
    • Unfortunately, as the 90s wore on, Felicia started wearing as many gray and neutral tones as Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan could produce, and the shoulder pads deflated to a drop sleeve.
    • I think Dante is reacting how most parents would react.
    • 5-2   Lord... At least the week started off well...I think. I don't know where to start.   Oh, yes, I do. It was mostly background noise to me. There was nothing to the majority of the characters that were on. Meaning, it was mostly characters that I didn't care for or I've gotten accustomed to just FF-ing through. Or just zoning out. Even the possibility that Michael and Lauren might have a story was just meh simply because we have done this dance before and Lauren was coming across like Michael was working for Sonny on GH the mob.   The biggest thing I really took away from last week was that the new costumer designer has stepped up her game again. It didn't bother me at all, but I wish there was some drama with this fashion. I liked Claire's outfit, LOVE Nikki's. And I continue to like brighter colors on Nick though I hated those pants. And I could go on about the clothes misses like Billy in that short sleeeve, but I digress.   The only things that held my interest...   THE SICKENING OF COLE. As soon as he started to cough, I went uh oh. I'm happy to see he might be getting a story. And I guess it shows how much history I have with the character that I care. But still...ugh.   ALL THINGS AUDRA. I admit that I was taken aback to see Victor with her at Crimson Lights. When was the last time he was there? I want to say recently with Kyle/Claire, but otherwise I still found the scene taking me aback. But I like her being soft with Kyle who actually came across annoyingly flirty for someone that hates Audra. I actually can't wait for him to eat crow. And since Audra is now being used to drive a wedge between Kyle and Claire, I have to talk about...   SUMMER'S EXIT. Mmmm...mixed feelings. It don't seem half as bad as others appear to see it. Yes, if I didn't have the context, it still seem odd that her part in the Kyle/Claire drama was barely touched on. And she interacted with everyone I felt she should interact with. But in the overall context...I still didn't mind the exit. Though it was abrupt.    I did like hearing that Noah and Allie are still together. And don't get me started on the offscreen Mariah drama.
    • I'm sure old Reva/Josh fans saw the writing on the wall--and this was their pattern. They (or usually Josh) was so angry that they'd spend months yelling at each other, and then "boom", they were macking up on each other, regardless of who else they were entangled with. (This is the couple who slept together under HB's roof while Reva was married to him, after all.) "Always". *gag me*
    • I don't think we've seen the last of Erica Kane. That's something I will continue believing in.
    • You are the best!!!! That is a remarkable talent, to not just summarize, but contextualize Draper's dilemma!  It is delightful to be able to think of that situation in a new way. - Thank you

I was pondering Lee Godart's accent, because it was so dreamy.  It made me think he would've been perfectly cast as Victor Newman's brother on Y&R.  American's have a hard time distinguishing European accents.  And, good news, before I hit reply, I went and confirmed the actor is still alive.
    • Has anyone even told Gio that Sonny once shot Dante?
    • There are so many missed opportunities and story beats that could be played out on B&B. Hope was finally able to successfully move on from Liam, with Thomas, and what does Brad Bell do, he ruins it. Hope & Thomas, baggage and all, were really good together. Why Thomas is off the canvas is mind boggling, yet we have a terrible and completely useless character in Daphne still there, please make it make sense. I think Rick is needed on the show too. Have him come back and hook up with Taylor again. That would create some really good drama and cause Ridge & Brooke's heads to explode.  And for God's sake just recast RJ and bring Jack to the show as an adult to rip Brooke a new one for basically ignoring him all these years. But yeah, just my opinion
