No taping next week for AMC. A fair assumption here is they're going dark to give the actors the chance to contemplate the big move before giving an answer when they return to work on the 17th.

So if they are paying money to rent, are they even saving any money with this big move that is supposedly going to cut costs?

They'll be able to have permanent sets, right? If so then wouldn't they still save the money they'd be paying the union crew to repeatedly assemble, strike, and move the sets?

Oh yeah, the Andrita Studios are gorgeous and huge (I've been there before). One of the soundstages is probably the size of the entire studio in New York -- "The View's" space included!

ABC is also going to be saving money by moving staffers from rented offices in NY into OLTL's old studio, apparently.

Exactly....just wait until OLTL goes dark for a week later this month. Everybody will saying similar things about that soap then, even though it was announced a couple of months ago that the soap would be taking a week off in August since they are so far ahead with taping episodes.

They usually don't get a week off during the summer if I remember correctly, and it makes sense to give them a week off to discuss and contemplate this issue and make a decision. It's not a small or easy decision. Plus, we have been told they've been given approximately a week to make a decision on if they're going to L.A. or quitting.

(giggle) Wouldn't it be funny (giggle) if ABC sent Erica Kane across the bridge to Llanview? That way Susan Lucci can stay in New York, honor her ABC contract and keep her dressing room?

I think this is the reason. Even Susan said they shot a marathon of episodes. It was probably because it's everyone's summer vacation.

They didn't tape a marathon of episodes. They taped a big dance marathon event, which also ensured that pretty much everyone would be at the studio for Frons' surprise visit (or maybe I'm reading too much into that )
