MAGA Chachie could never BE a replacement for George Clooney.

Just saying.🤷‍♀️

Maybe Scott can't be a replacement for Clooney. MAGA is irrelevant. This is a website that I come to visit because I dont see politics as part of its forum and I find enjoyment sharing stories about a show we all loved. Just saying.

Changing topics -- Let's discuss the four actors who portrayed Aunt Liz Matthews.... Which was your favorite, and why? And which was your least favorite, and why?

I wish I could see some of Audra Lindley's Liz. I've read that her Liz was a force to be reckoned with.

Irene Dailey is the only Liz I remember. I knew Audra Lindley only as Mrs Roper.

Did Audra Lindley's Liz have any romantic interests? I know from the novelizations that Liz was interested in Wayne Addison but I think that must have been Nancy Wickwire's era. I suppose Liz' interest in Mac would have been Irene Dailey.

Audra Lindley played Liz vaguely similarly to Ruth Warrick's Phoebe Tyler on AMC -- minus the alcohol problem. Lindley's Liz was a rich snob who interfered in the romantic lives of her children, and she considered herself superior to her late husband's family -- Jim and Mary Matthews and their children.

Yes, Audra Lindley's and Nancy Wickwire's Liz both had at least a couple of romantic interests which were implied to also be sexual.

I'm not sure Irene Dailey's Liz got any sex. Possibly Mac Cory, but I really don't think so. And possibly Milo Simonelli, but again unconfirmed, so I doubt it.

Liz #1 Sarah Cunnungham- she seemed to be on the debut episode only and was replaced by Audra a few days later.

I wonder what went on then? How could you gauge a performance after one episode? And then be assured that the replacement was going to be any better? In this case it worked out.'

Was there an audio of Audra's Liz? I recall her being very highly strung and viperish in her comments. Maybe it was just that particular scene, but I get the impression she was very high maintenance.

Definitely obsessed with Bill and completely opposed to Missy. I wonder if she mellowed somewhat to that relationship?

Nancy Wickwire played Liz after Bill and Missy departed and Susan returned, Liz had been seeing Fred Douglas who up and married Susan.

According to AWHP Irene's Liz dated Mac, Dr Richard Gavin, Frank Prescott, Charlie Hobson and Milo Simonelli. There were also hints that she was interested in Jim Matthews.

Irene's Liz mellowed into busybody aunt.

I recall coming across something that tried to suggest that Liz and Ada were rivals for Charlie's affections. I find that hard to picture but to be honest I really only remember Charlie dying. (A lot of my earliest memories of the show are probably from the last few minutes of episodes that would have been on when I was getting home from school.)

Aunt Liz as busybody frequently seemed to make things worse rather than better but I do recall Catlin and Sally's first wedding where Liz made the decision to keep Zane and Brittany from being able to interrupt so that the newlyweds could get away on their honeymoon believing that they were legally married. I wonder whether TPTB would have chosen to interrupt the wedding instead if Mary Page Keller had been planning to extend her contract.

I had the impression that Irna Phillips did not hesitate to replace actors -- maybe from Jacqui Courtney's fear of being fired? At least one other actor was let go almost immediately, John Beal as Jim Matthews.

Yes Irna had a rep for that. Richard Holland and Will Lee were dropped after one episode I think on ATWT and Fran Sharon was also replaced as Susan on AW. it seems that if Irna wasn'r entirely happy with an actor onscreen immediately they were gone.

Elizabeth Franz (Alma Rudder) was included in the In Memoriam segment at last night's Tony Awards.

Reuben Santiago-Hudson (Billy Cooper) was nominated for a Tony for his rôle in Joe Turner's Come and Gone.

I think it looks much more like her sister Pat Matthews Randolph (Beverly Penberthy).
