B&B: Bring back Rick Hearst!

B&B should strike while the iron is hot and bring back Rick Hearst as Whip Jones. Jackie could hire him at Jackie M or he could work for

Or if they don't want to bring Whip back they could always hire him as Taylor's brother Zach.

Ewww, no. I couldn't stand Whip. Of all of Rick Hearst's daytime roles, Whip is easily my least favorite.

Unless Bill Bell rose from his grave to take over the reins of B&B, I honestly would not wish the show on as talented an actor as Rick Hearst. Bradley Bell needs to show that he can value the host of great characters who already willfully ignores on his canvas first.

Co-sign on the Sean Kanan wish, though. He invigorated the show.

Hm... Is this a contradiction: you don't want talented actors on a show, but you'd like Sean Kanan? I hate Sean Kanan, I wish you thought his character was awful, you obviously don't. One rule for Hearst, the other for Kanan?

Kanan sucks. His character, too.

Deacon was fantastic for his first year or so on the show but the writing weakened for his character. I thought Sean Kanan was fantastic, if bloated in the role.

What I don't think you get is that there is a substantial contingent of us that hates Forresters. Loathes them. Finds them entitled and irresponsible and perverse.

For us, the pleasure has always come from watching the malevolent outsiders knock them down a peg.

• Sally Spectra, who got in a few good blows.
• Massimo, the only man who ever talked to Eric like the lecherous slime he is
• Deacon, who did to the Forresters what Rick is doing to Ridge now...but who had incendiary chemistry with Stephanie. As she does with so many, Flannery appealed to Deacon's desperate need for a mother
• Amber Moore, who beat Brooke at her own slutty game
• Angela, who exposed the hypocrisy of "close family" among the Forresters -- when she showed that an "imperfect" Forrester was not worthy of being acknowledged
• Sheila, the ultimate outsider, who only wanted love and acceptance. When it was denied to her, her schemes were delicious

Each of these outsiders received more audience love than disdain, at least during their initial runs. And that is because the audience hates the Forresters. HATES 'em (except for Stephanie).

So, yes, we need Deacon and Whip and Amber and Sheila ... or suitable replacements. The Forresters need so badly to be taught some lessons right now. To a one, every single one is acting like an irredeemable ass right now.

My hope is that

is the next in a line of people who can teach Eric and his spoiled brats some lessons.

Stephanie, telling "grandpa" that she was gonna "show him" was a delight. Stephanie is the ULTIMATE Forrester adversary (if they let her be). She will do this with strength, and I hope she brings that lecherous Viagra popper down to his knees BEGGING for mercy.

Even a few weeks ago, when someone was stealing Forrester designs and giving them to the Marones. The chat on here and elsewhere was "I wonder who" and "this is fun"...NOT "oh those poor Forresters". A few of us would like to see those folks humbled.

I don't see how my statement is contradictory. Whip was a character with a lot of potential, yes -- humor, not afraid to pull on women's lingerie, chemistry with everyone, and a secret past involving a rather intense mother and a fixation with Forrester Creations. Alas, Bradley Bell dispensed with his services a few months' later and buried the SL. That speaks volumes. If the EP/HW is not willing to put in the groundwork in a new character played by (IMO) one of Daytime's most accomplished actors, what can I do about it?

Again and again, interesting characters and the actors who play them are thrown to the wayside in favor of blowhards like Jack Wagner, talentless hair models like Ronn Moss and the underrated but sleepwalking Katherine Kelly Lang who has been on Blow-Up Doll Mode.

I like Rick Hearst too much as an actor to see him subjected to that indignity (I felt the same way with how Eileen Davidson was treated). He's already been through all that with GH. I honestly think that RH should be playing characters who become leads -- he has the stature and talent of a lead actor.

As for Sean Kanan, I actually think he's somewhat talented, too. More than that, though, the character of Deacon is (or was) embedded in the canvas of the show. He is "Little Eric's" dad -- you know, the kid the Forresters swore they would treat as if he were their own flesh and blood before he was shipped back to Furnace Creek? He is Hope's father. He was in love with Amber. Married to Bridget. Shtupped her mom. Headed marketing at FC. Shtupped Jackie. He is the troublemaker of the show. Bradley has been trying to write characters like him ever since he left -- Shane, Owen, now Rick. This sort of anatgonist is needed because he pisses everybody off and because the Brooke/Stephanie rivalry is played out. JMO.
