Once again, women’s voices are being dismissed in the media, down to the very end. And we’re only the ones who are voting in higher numbers.  Please don’t dismiss VP Harris’ words to disqualify Trump but lend a hand to his voters. She’s the one running, can we remember that? Also, can we remember which presidential candidates once threw paper towels at Puerto Ricans in the middle of a crisis which was costing lives? Which candidate wanted to trade Puerto Rico for Greenland?

Can people try to keep perspective for a few days? This is not entirely about media, actual people and their chaotic attention spans bear some responsibility for the fact that so many are so ill informed at this late stage.

We should be used to this. Many men are always dismissing us, whether it's the dismissal of our own rights, to thinking we are a bunch of empty headed nothings, to equating us to baby machines and not really caring about what we think. So much progress, so much misogyny still. The media is still run by white men and while women are represented, how often do we hear our issues. Women normally outvote men in early voting by around 5%. We are outvoting men at this point by 12%. I suppose there will be an excuse as to why this is so good for Trump also. We outvote men in every election, but somehow not important enough to hear.

We should be used to this shouldn't we?  Those we believe are allies also ignoring it but we know why. Because it's women, it's just not a serious issue.

Yep

Here is the thing also. If things are going so well for Trump?

1. Why the red wave polls?

2. Why the election rigging narrative

3. Why the rigging of the market betting indicator like Polymarket, which by the way, no one in the US can use.

Campaigns confident they are winning don't have to do this.

That clip you posts from PBS about social media says it all.  Letting social media put people into a panic when it's really only the extremes that are there constantly and their voices amplified. Anyone who is there should disconnect for their own mental health or narrow your view of what's there, which you can't do completely anymore.

Like I said: She got a gimme out of it. The media was obsessing over whether she would be 'forced' to stick by or divorce herself from Joe for months, he (inadvertently or not) gave her an opening to do it in the cleanest way possible without being driven by gotcha interviews. It also keeps the PR mess in the news. In the end it's a positive for the campaign IMO.

as it says above:
Voting experts have long warned that comparing voting rolls to DMV data is not a reliable way to find non-citizens on the rolls because there may be paperwork errors and people can become naturalized after getting their driver’s license. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit said they had identified several people who were in fact citizens but had their registrations wrongly canceled.  Over 1600 voters were removed from Virginia's voting rolls, including some citizens who were born in Virginia.
Federal courts had ruled that the voters needed to be restored, so the State(Commonwealth) of Virginia took it to the U.S. Supreme Court, asking that the restoration be stopped.
-----------

Update Wednesday October 30:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/30/supreme-court-virginia-voter-registration

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Virginia does not have to restore the registrations of 1,600 voters, some of whom appear to have been wrongly removed.

The Virginia attorney general, Jason Miyares, a Republican, praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s action, saying it would “keep noncitizens off our voter rolls”.

Virginia, which is predicted to vote for Kamala Harris this fall, provides same-day voter registration, allowing anyone who was wrongfully removed to re-register at the polls.

-
My response to the above:
With six days to go, how will they reach all those voters who were wrongly removed, to tell them to go vote anyhow with whatever documentation might be needed?  Hopefully the lawsuit has a list of everyone and how to reach them.

This explains what Joe Biden said and didn't say regarding the racist comments by  the presenters at the Tr*mp rally -- A confusion due to an apostrophe:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/29/joe-biden-puerto-rico

In the typed text of Biden's speech:  he said
supporter's
not supporters.
But when spoken aloud, it sounds the same.

Biden said regarding the Trump rally in New York:
The only garbage I see is his supporter's (his supporter's garbage)

Biden didn't say:
The only garbage I see is his supporters (the people who support him)

And then Biden issued this statement afterwards:
https://x.com/JoeBiden/status/1851436643498037614
"Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump's supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation."

When Hillary Clinton said "basket of deplorables"
(at an LGBT campaign fundraising event in New York City on September 9, 2016),
she was indeed talking about people and not attitudes, but still,
she specifically said that applied to only HALF of Trump's supporters.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basket_of_deplorables

Note the last paragraph is bigger and she talks about the well-meaning people who support Trump, the ones we have to understand and empathize with:

Quoting Hillary from 2016:

I know there are only 60 days left to make our case – and don't get complacent; don't see the latest outrageous, offensive, inappropriate comment and think, "Well, he's done this time". We are living in a volatile political environment.

You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. (Laughter/applause) Right? (Laughter/applause) They're racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic – you name it. And unfortunately, there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people – now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric. Now, some of those folks – they are irredeemable, but thankfully, they are not America.

But the "other" basket – the other basket – and I know because I look at this crowd I see friends from all over America here: I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas and – as well as, you know, New York and California – but that "other" basket of people are people who feel the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures; and they're just desperate for change. It doesn't really even matter where it comes from. They don't buy everything he says, but – he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won't wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they're in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.

End quote.

    • It's shocking to see Steffy look down on anyone. She was the new generation HO for years. I mean... she was nasty and using sex to seduce married-engaged-in-relationship-men all the time. She was embracing it fully. Bradley was accenting on the fact that Taylor's daughter had become Brooke 2. I remember how disgusting it was when she was using Hope's virginity to her advantage and offering to f-ck the guys that wanted Hope. It was ABSURDLY nasty.  Then couple of years ago Bradley decided we should forget about it and made Steffy BECOME her grandmother. IN AN INSTANT. There was no build up to it. Which aged the f-ck out the character and made her unbearable. Because it's one thing to see an actual matriarch, older woman doing these things, being a moral judge... but it's complete joke to see the ex-ho acting like this. Ex-ho that is still incredibly young and has no right acting like she is better that anyone or... a moral JUDGE. Steffy and Hope's personalities got swapped!!! That's the irony of it. So any time these gang-style of fans come attacking Hope... for acting like a "slut"... I pinch myself - their HEROINE Steffy was doing this HARCORE. Are these people oblivious or just pretending not to remember. How can you stan a moral judge... that attacks "sluts" and also stan the same type of behavior you are attacking... years ago. How does this happen. But I repeat myself at this point.  I agree with everything you said 100000 percent. It's the truth. At least in my eyes.
    • The Amanda pregnancy was a blunder. Amanda and Sam were AW's best bet for a starcrossed supercouple. Young love destined to be turn apart by outside forces and misunderstandings . Battling for years to finally get together. Instead AW had them married and pregnant within a year.
    • It is his fatal flaw.  He's smart, cute, and loyal.  But, a total chauvinist pig.  We're looking through a 2025 lens, but April's from a wealthy family, (that she recently met), she should be allowed to contribute to her own home. Especially if Draper is going to work for the Crime Commission, rather than joining Mike's private law firm (did I get that part correct?) How about smoking while the baby is in the room?  It all looks nuts by current standards. Raven was married to Geraldine's son Kevin, but had an affair with Logan (whom Geraldine also considered like a son). Raven got pregnant by Logan, then Kevin died (long story short).  The part you need to know is that Raven was bored being a mother to Jamey (check out my member name).  So, she starts going out to Elliott's club and leaving Jamey with April.  Logan is not happy that Raven keeps leaving their baby all around town.  And thus, Geraldine is not pleased with Raven either. Draper and Logan are frequently rivals in the courtroom.  FYI --- Draper is also Raven's step-brother (her mother married his father). Raven's real name is Charlotte. But, one day [she] was sitting on the lawn and saw this beautiful black bird with shiny wings fly by. [She] wanted to be that bird. So beautiful. So free. With beautiful black wings…"    @chrisml you'll hear that story soon, and I envy you getting to see it the first time.
    • There is a time... till the old storyline is cleaning up... where it's still kinda annoying. For me it was. That's a personal opinion. But in 10-20 episodes more... you'll find yourself enthralled. It's not even begun. I'm so glad to hear your reviews! And excited of what's to come for you!
    • Carly also has Nikki (Nicholas) with Lawrence. The easiest way to remember Chelsea is to think about how she was buried, stillborn, premature in a swamp and came back to life.  Or you can just remember her running over Bo/Hope's kid Zack.  Kind of ballsy to name her kid Issac if you ask me lol.
    • That's right Anita! Let her have it!

    • This is my other blind spot -- the children of Bo Brady's past loves.  Melanie:Carly as Chelsea:Billie -- but it is tough to keep them straight I dipped out during the Daniel of our Lives period of the show.
    • Yeah.  Let's just move on and talk about Jagger....lol 100% agree on the Sonny situation.  Mostly because I want Sonny to get a murder charge so he can just go live on an island with Brenda. I think Tracy did do a lot to explain Jason's perspective on AJ's murder.  I truly think that's how Jason justifies it in his own head. I don't think he was lying about his feelings.  They are just wrong.
    • I will never get over Sonny killing a fed in cold blood and everyone just shrugging when it wasn’t Alexis.    And then last week you had Jason white washing Sonny murdering AJ in cold blood to Gio.
    • I thought it was impolite to stare directly at the car crash.  Consider it like polite cocktail chatter while our hosts bicker in the kitchen
