Surprising (okay, maybe not) that this has received virtually no mainstream news coverage. Then again, Deby was an autocrat who had been in power for thirty years and he had support from the U.S. as well as E.U. countries like France. And unsurprisingly, his son is being installed in his place.

France should probably (although it's unlikely) take a look at their role in this, as they supported and helped with training of the fighting force that grew out of the fighting in Libya, that later would become part of the rebel force in Chad.

 

I don't usually share the NY Times but this description of Andrew Yang's meeting with the Stonewall Democratic Club sounds absolutely bizarre.

 

 

This thread has a number of receipts from video to images of texts being shared by members during the meeting. It's brutal.

 

 

The UN is really a bad joke between this and it's so called Human Rights commission featuring China. It could be so much more.

 

Andrew Yang is the beneficiary of endless media coverage and a web of extremely right wing operatives who guide his movements. He will be a dangerous joke if he is elected, but there doesn't seem to be much stopping him. It's Trump all over again. 

There are several other candidates that are in Yang's way and can, in fact stop him from being elected.

The huge pile-up is actually one of the parts that reminds me of Trump, although hopefully someone will break through. I know Maya Wiley seems to have the most progressive support. 

 

This is ridiculous. She shouldn't have demanded he call her "doctor" in a zoning meeting, and he shoudn't have been such a dick about it.

Maya Wiley is spoken of by progressives, but so is Dianne Morales. NYC politics is not NY state politics. One cannot take a cursory look and have things figured out.

Mark Greene and Christine Quinn were once frontrunners in their respective mayoral races as well, until they weren't. I guess we will see how the primary (NYC' first foray with Ranked Choice voting) shapes up in June.

 

I am still astounded that an Anglo-Saxon caucus exists in the Republican party, so baldly and freely. I shouldn't be, after everything else witnessed in the past decade or so but I am.
