New arrivals are welcome, as long as they cut some other characters. This show has way too many as it is. (And I don't think I have to specify which characters I think should be cut, right?  :P)

Emmerdale hints mystery character could return next summer

Quote

Emmerdale’s executive producer Jane Hudson has hinted that there is a chance that a mystery character could possibly return to the show next summer.

Hudson also hinted that a character from the past may come back: “Ooh! I can't tell you! I can't say! We're working on June storylines at the minute and I thought [about a return] and thought: 'Viewers would love that!'"

So, which Dingle is it gonna be?   <_<

Eli? Del? Nellie? Debbie? Tina? Albert?

Emmerdale airs sad Arthur Thomas scenes after Noah run-in

Spoiler

Emmerdale has aired sad scenes for Arthur Thomas after a run-in with Noah Dingle.

The teen has been struggling with the realisation that long-time friend April has a crush on him since he doesn't feel the same way.

Friday's episode saw Cathy apologise to April for trying to set her up with Arthur, only for April to insist she didn't need a boyfriend. However, April couldn't paint over the disappointment when Arthur ignored her while coming into the cafe.April stopped him, so they had an awkward chat where she put her foot in it by revealing she'd told Cathy off for trying to get her a boyfriend."I can get one myself… not that I want one," April nervously told him.

Laurel noticed Arthur's reluctance around April, so she visited Rhona to report what she'd seen. Laurel explained she was worried April may have an unrequited crush on Arthur."We always want what we can't have, and when we can't have it…," Laurel explained before Rhona finished off her sentence: "... we want it even more."Rhona admitted she'd need to tread carefully bringing up the subject with April.

At the cafe, Rhona had a heart-to-heart with April about her feelings for Arthur. April pointed out that it seemed like Arthur had gone off her, adding: "I wish it was how it used to be and I wasn't having to second-guess everything." Rhona encouraged April to try inviting Arthur over for tea so they could get back to the way it used to be when they were just friend

Later, Arthur was helping with a painting project when Noah made him uncomfortable by asking if he was friends "with or without benefits" with April. Arthur grew uncomfortable so Marcus ordered Noah to drop it. "I reckon Arthur's got a secret he doesn't want to share with us," Noah sneered.Marcus tried to come to Arthur's defence by assuring him it's okay to have a platonic friendship, but the boy stormed off in a huff. In a difficult closing scene, Arthur was shown weeping at his father's graveside, though the soap stopped short of confirming what's been troubling him.

All signs points towards Arthur

Spoiler

being gay and having feelings for Noah.

Emmerdale won the Soap Quiz 2022 against Coronation Street! Nicola was a hoot lol

But i can’t see Marlon or his actor anymore. I’m so over him

Other than the need for Arthur to be outed, and the ensuing misery, the scenes where he came out to Nicola were lovely and moving - Emmerdale at its best. Also good to see the long history between Nicola and Laurel utilized.

I was never into this story, that's being kind, but still, I'm very impressed with Natalie Robb's talents.

Yes! It's moments like these that keep me from giving up on this show completely. They are perfect examples of how good it could be if they cut back on all the stunts and disasters (and Dingles! :P) and focused on the smaller moments and human interactions.

Emmerdale Farm alumni George Fenton, who played Martin Gimbel 1975-76, but is nowadays more famous as a composer, will receive a CBE at this year's New Year's Honour.

He's written a lot of film scores, including "Gandhi", "Shadowlands", "Land and Freedom", "Dangerous Liasions", "Groundhog Day" and "You've Got Mail". He's also written music for many wildlife documentaries, including "The Trials of Life", "Frozen Planet", "The Blue Planet" and "Planet Earth".

I just finished a rewatch of the first twenty episodes courtesy of Filmrise/Tubi, and I love love love the early days of this soap so much. Tubi also has 300+ episodes from the 90s, but I don’t know if I even want to watch them because I’m just so used to the Farm era.

Began watching Emmerdale today, via BritBox, and it's a very unique soap. Love the setting of it all. Feels quaint, yet current. Acting is pretty solid, too!

They have what??

I've always been curious about early Emmerdale.

Whenever I encourage someone to watch Emmerdale, I usually compare it to Falcon Crest.  They're both agrarian based stories that explore the lives of families from different social classes.  And they both have killer opening themes.

That being said, I would never recommend that a first time viewer watches anything before the plane crash re-set in 1993.  Tune into YouTube and watch the history of Kim Tate, the love story of Aaron and Robert, the murder of Tom King, or any of the families who've lived at Home Farm (my favorites were the Sinclairs).  Just stay away from the Dingles, until you're really hooked into the plot.

I'm familiar with the different stages of the show. I have a specific interest in the Farm era because of it.
