This Lily pregnancy story surprisingly has wide reaching effects, and the actors involved seem very committed to it. Stacey in her maternal mode also feels weirdly similar to Pauline in her more likeable days.

EastEnders, in recent years, also has a bad tendency to hit you over the head with everything. Jessie Wallace and the directing team did an amazing job of subtly conveying Kat’s inner turmoil in today’s episode as she learnt the news of Lily’s pregnancy. They didn’t even have to mention Kat’s own experience with Zoe for you to get how triggering this news was to her, it was all in her face. If only they would get Kat out of that poisonous relationship with Phil.

At first I just watched this (which was brand new to me - not even mentioned on IMDB) as I saw that it has Shreela Ghosh, who played Naima (a fave of mine), but it's a genuinely very strong family drama. There are a number of other EE actors in it as well, including the woman who played Sanjay's mother in the late '90s.

That Alfie/Kat-Drama is doing my head in lately.
Phil - The big Boss. I can’t take his gangster storylines anymore. Now I get why the Grant actor Ross won’t reprise his role. He knows they would trash his character too. He always says „Never say never“ but I doubt that we will see him anytime soon.

Keanu is 1 character I really feel sorry for. That Phil even threatened Karen a few episodes ago with such cruelty to make sure that Keanu stays away otherwise she will see her child buried.. What the actual F?

Storywise the show is still not working for me, but the character moments and relationships have come a long way. This past episode was one of the few in the last decade where Sharon felt like her old self and not Letitia vamping or struggling to find the heart of the character.

    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
    • Well, depending on rewrites...Jennifer Richards potentially slept with Brandon and Alan. It does feel like we're forgetting someone, but then again, maybe I'm confusing that with brothers, which would include a lot more.
    • Maybe it’s me, and the fact that RC isn’t at the helm, but since Cwikly and Ford have taken over I’ve noticed the show doing a lot of things differently directing wise, and since the storyline of John’s demise began, the show has been using different scores, and dare I say better ones than this time last year. It’s interesting and I wonder if the any of it is Noel Maxam’s influence before being promoted.
    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
    • @Efulton thank you. I don't know how I missed it or didn't recall it.  I'll blame amnesia . Anyway @Errol Could the newer thread be merged to the existing? Thanks in advance.
    • I just finished watching and I have to admit, not once did I find myself wondering who wasn't there. Quick question for anyone who followed this better than I did: was it only Andrew who rescued Cat and John from Clyde, or was Shane involved too? The reactions during their scenes today felt a little off to me. I know it was meant to be vague, but I didn't find it strange that they already knew each other.
    • Yeah, financially, Luna is in better shape than Deacon and Sheila.   -- Scott Clifton must have decided to chew the scenery in every scene of this "Liam is Dying" storyline. Yikes.
    • If J.R. wasn't busy with Ewing Oil, he'd be a heckuva soap recapper. He was SO gleeful at recapping Jenna-Bobby-Pam when the trio and Mark encountered each other at the Oil Baron's Ball. That being said, Lucy, presumably Sue Ellen and maybe Ray should all know this story, or at least part of it. Lucy was definitely at Southfork during Jenna and Bobby's relationship, and I believe Sue Ellen was about to marry J.R. around the time Jenna jilted Bobby. (Ray might not have given a damn.)
