May 1, 200818 yr Member Way to go David Canary! I think he will get his sixth Emmy this year I hope David takes it too, but I doubt it. None of his costars were nominated, which probably means he just barely snuck into the final top 5. It'll probably go to one of the Y&R guys.
May 1, 200818 yr Member It's strange....I'm so very glad that Days finally got a few acting noms. As a fan of this show who always feels frustrated and angry about the Emmy noms every single year, It shocked me to see four actors nominated. I was floored. However, at the risk of seeming ungrateful and picky, why didn't the best performers get nods? Martha, Dee and Joe were outstanding. ESPECIALLY DEIDRE!!! Her scenes during John's "death" were perfectly executed! I keep up with most of the soaps, and I watch almost any 'big' event in daytime. There were many great performances in daytime this year that weren't recognized, but Dee's is the most glaring omission IMO. She hasn't been nominated in over two decades, and if she deserved a nod ever, she deserved it this year. Not just because she's a diva.....because she acted her @!# off last fall. I totally agree with what you said. Dee, Martha and Joe were the three I would've expected. But, I can't complain at the fact that we finally got some after years of nothing.
May 1, 200818 yr Member I think Nicole Forester deserved her nomination. She played grieving Cassie very well. I don't think she stands out day to day like some people do, but I think if she submitted scenes from Tammy's death and her reaction to that in the following months she deserves to be nominated for those scenes.
May 1, 200818 yr Member Katherine Kelly Lang is not there? No words. She deserved a nod for her amazing rape scenes last summer. I am so angry that they ignored her. The only thing Nicole Forester should be up for is Employee of the Month at Denny's
May 2, 200818 yr Member I hope David takes it too, but I doubt it. None of his costars were nominated, which probably means he just barely snuck into the final top 5. It'll probably go to one of the Y&R guys. It is all on the tapes and he has some terrific tapes to submit

June 21, 200817 yr Member I am thrillllllllllllllllllllllled for Jeanne Cooper. It's all quite poetic. This year Y&R celebrated 35 years, this year Jeanne celebrated 35 years of Katherine Chancellor and come the fall Jeanne celebrates her 80th birthday! Absolutely sensational. She gave the speech of the night. I'm delighted.
June 21, 200817 yr Member Only Anthony Geary can submit a comedy reel and win an Emmy. This is the second time where one of his reels was comedic and he walked away with an Emmy for Lead Actor in a DRAMA Series.

This is the second time where one of his reels was comedic and he walked away with an Emmy for Lead Actor in a DRAMA Series. What was the first time? I'm a HUGE Geary fan and I'm happy for him but I don't think he should've won this year. Other years, absolutely, but not this year.

In 2004, he submitted the special Christmas episode as one of his reels. I guess it wasn't overtly comedic, but it was a strange submission. He said himself that he was surprised he won that year, since he didn't do much in 2003 and thought it would go to Maurice.
June 21, 200817 yr Member I was beginning to think that Maura would get it. But I'm very pleased that it went to Jeannie. She's an often overlooked daytime icon.

I only remember his 1999 (the 8 minute rape revisted monologue) and 2006 (Lucky's coma where Luke tells Lucky to breathe) wins.
June 21, 200817 yr Member Ahh...okay. I only remember his 1999 (the 8 minute rape revisted monologue) That was one of the most deserved wins, too bad GH doesn't do drama of that kind anymore.
