The great rallies, the great shot making, one game went to like 6 deuces, a couple of really long games (I think one went almost 10 minutes), there was a triple break point game that a player came back to win, they traded breaking each other, each had an over head smash error, and there was even a bit of drama to finish the match off. There was tons of tension too. It was an amazing match! I didn't really have any expectations, seeing as the two players were first-time finalists. People were way more invested in the women’s side this year. The men’s matches were mostly boring during the second week (after the Alcaraz/Tsitsipas match and the success of qualifiers like Otte and Botic vdZ). Very predictable and uninspired. The courts were finally sped up, for the first time in ages and the entertainment value went up, irrespective of the names of the players. It's a pity both the US Open and Wimbledon wasted so many years of late with slowed down court surfaces. Simona using the word "D" certainly did nothing to quell that. It is only giving grist to the rumor mill that Halep's new hubby put an end to that relationship.
