DAYS will air on New Year's Day!

NBC media listings show that "Days of Our Lives" will air on New Year's Day for only the sixth time in its 41-year history. New Year's Day 2007 will be its first airing since New Year's Day 1979. "Days" has previously aired on New Year's Day in 1970, 1971, 1973, 1974 and 1979. In other news, it seems that "Days" will no longer air in Canada a day ahead as it has in the past. "Days" is preempted in Canada on New Year's Day, and thus the January 2 episode will be the same for both the USA and Canada.

NBC media listings have been wrong in the past. Until last week, the NBC Media site had the wrong episode # airing for this week's episodes. But TV Guide.com as well as other listings do show that "Days" will be airing on January 1 but not in Canada. If NBC media listings are to be believed, then it will be a new episode, # 10374. I can't see them airing a repeat episode on NBC New Year's Day, but that's why my press release only says that "Days" will air on New Year's Day...whether it's a repeat or a new show it seems no one will know until December 28 arrives (that's when the Early Edition/Canada will get the day-ahead previews of the 12/29 episode, which will air previews for the possible 1/1 episode, if you follow all that, lol). Then we'll know if the previews aired in the 12/28 Early Edition/Canada episode match up with what Canada is airing on January 2. That's when it will be confirmed. Jason

Here's the official NBC Media listings for "Days":

01/05/07 1:00 PM 10478

01/04/07 1:00 PM 10477

01/03/07 1:00 PM 10476

01/02/07 1:00 PM 10475

01/01/07 1:00 PM 10474

12/29/06 1:00 PM 10473

12/28/06 1:00 PM 10472

12/27/06 1:00 PM 10471

Before you all start thinking day-aheads are done, I've emailed Global to find out whether or not this is true. IF Day Aheads are done, it means Global will no longer be airing these soaps, which is not good for Canadian fans.

It is not confirmed yet that DAYS will not be airing in Canada on New Year's Day.

Considering that MANY of the GLOBAL affiliates already air the same day episodes as the US, I highly doubt those networks will be pre-empting the show when it is airing in the United States.

I called GLOBAL Edmonton (one of the affiliates that airs day-ahead episodes) and they said at this time there was no scheduled pre-emptions of any of their afternoon programming for New Year's Day or on December 31st.

I guess we will have to wait and see what GLOBAL does, but I doubt they are dropping DAYS or its day-ahead episode schedule from their lineups!

This is getting strange. The Global in Toronto does not show the DAYS day ahead episode (we get the same episode as the US), but according to the tv listings from the cable company DAYS will not be airing on Monday January 1 on Global, even though it is airing on NBC. Instead, Global will be airing a Gilmore Girls episode. I could understand DAYS not airing on Global Toronto if it was a day ahead, but it isn't.

On Global Toronto, (which does air Passions a day ahead) Passions summary for Monday is different from the Passions summary on NBC but if Global pre-empts Passions on Friday (as the listings say they're going to) we should be getting the same episode as the US.

I wish we could just have an answer one way or another because there is a lot of contradictory info out there.

I thought DAYS aired NY Day the year Austin accidentally ran Sami over in his car...1997(the year BEACH premiered).

Nope. I remember that day and I was so pissed that DAYS wasn't on the next day because I wanted to know if Sami would be all right.

LOL, I remember that episode, but I was crossing my fingers that Sami would die. ;)

Since we got screwed out of Christmas, it makes sense. DAYS usually does awesome New Year episodes. I wonder what we'll get next Monday.

 I made it for Drew Hamilton so he could have something to stare at while he's browsing here. It is my after Christmas gift to him.

Nope, it was preempted on Wednesday, January 1, 1997. The last time Days aired on a January 1 was Monday, January 1, 1979.

LMFAO!!! You're too much, Bree... I know you love Willow deep down inside. The Willow love is in that cold, black heart somewhere.

Love the avatar Bree.

I hope the day aheads are gone.

As for New Year's day, I knew something was up when I read SOD this week and they had Passions previews in the VCR alert section for New Year's Day. Great to know Days will be on too. Should be good.

I was wondering what NBC would put on since they lost the bowl games they usually have with Fox getting the BCS and all the other networks taking on more games.
