Y&R Discussion: Week of November 20

This will be a short week for Y&R due to the Thanksgiving holiday:

So far, we viewers will get to see GloHo plot and scheme to try to get Will Bardwell's attention.

More terrible dreams come to Katherine and she requests someone's help about them.

Victor pulls on Jack's strings to see if Jack will take the bait into going into politics.

The Winters family try to celebrate Thanksgiving the best way possible, despite Devon being arrested.

Lauren is still having difficulties caring for her baby

Also, look for Michael to be determined enough to see if Jack was the one that might have silenced Carmen.

See you all for Y&R

Y&R is getting so tired. Yeah, so once again, Victor is supposed to come out on top. Yep, Victor is all seeing and all knowing. Yep, he's a god, and Jack is just a buffoon. When in truth, sometimes Jack would get over, sometimes Victor would. This show is too pro Newman and its tired.

No wonder this is the first epi I've caught in days.

Agree!

I haven't watched a full episode since last Tues... and with the holiday coming up, it will probably be next week before I do.

Southern Honey, I'm not so sure it'll be Victor coming out on top, Jack looking like a buffoon. I'll type up part of an article in SID about this story.

Indeed, perhaps the biggest change ahead for fans is not Victor's new attitude, but rather that this may be the first time in the history of the two moguls where they are evenly matched. "These men are both smart, driven, competitive. It doesn't serve anybody in storytelling if the adversary is not strong," Latham declares. "I certainly don't think of either one as a lesser character. And at this point, Jack has made a lot of in-roads. He owns NVP. He secretly owns Jabot. He has been very, very successful. I certainly think of them as equals. If I didn't, I wouldn't think this story would be as interesting."

For the moment, both men are engaged in a covert operation, warily circling each other, testing their strengths and trying to spot the other's weakness--all with smiles pasted on their faces.

"I have to stop working to watch the two of them when they're on screen," Latham confesses with a laugh. "The way they interact with each other, guard their motives and yet project friendship is fascinating. It's a very craftly and subtle time right now for these two characters."

The big question int he next two weeks, adds the wordsmith, is: Who will be the first to uncover the truth? "Is Victor going to find his proof that Jack actually is deceiving him? Or will Jack--by his questions and observations--learn that Victor has developed an interest in business again and is closely examining Jack's work?" Latham teases. "We're looking at two men who are trying to find what is driving the other. This isn't about fireworks--this is a detective story!"

"It's like a game of cat and mouse," concludes Braeden. "Only it's two very Machiavellian characters going after one another!"

I agree w/ SouthernHoney...So SID wrote an article about the Jack/Victor storyline; to me, it really doesn't matter what is said in the magazine. If Latham wants Jack to fall on his face once again, she'll do just that...Whether it be Victor or someone else, Jack is going to be exposed for what he's done, and his possibly going into politics will be just that; Jack's secrets will be exposed.

I don't believe anything LML says. She's anti Abbotts.

My point in posting that part of the article is that I disagree with Southern Honey's statement that Victor is basically being propped up as God, with Jack as the buffoon. I think both have been portrayed on equal footing. Jack is not unaware that Victor is on to him. He's been discussing it for weeks with Ji Min and working to cover his secrets up.

Yes Jack will probably be exposed in some respects, but in that case I think it has merit. With Jack taking advantage of Victor in his sad state, he needed to be exposed eventually, but I think the story was interesting and made the plot twist worth it, even if Jack loses in the end.

But I also don't look at it as one person winning or losing. I do think Jack has developed feeling with Victor that he wasn't expecting. The story isn't that black and white. I personally have been enjoying the new twists on the Jack and Victor relationship. I have no complaints in this department.

I don't believe anything LML says. She's anti Abbotts.

How? When she came onto the show, there were three Abbotts (Jack, Ashley, John). Did she magically do away with the rest of them years before she came? Because the Abbotts were dismantled many years ago.

Big yawn for today's show.

Katherine's story had me interested, but like everything else, the lead in is so boring.

Jana is Lauren's new nurse? I already see where this is going...

Victor wants Jack to go into politics? Does he plan on humiliating Jack in front of everyone? Are we really going to have to wait until next November for Jack to be exposed? Not interested.

I am, however, enjoying the Jill/William/Gloria triangle that's starting to build up. That's the only thing that has my interest with Y&R right now.

Others shows have a line of the day...

It seems Y&R is keen on having the creepy-line-of-the-day. The honor today belongs to Jana (to Gloria): “You modelled yourself after his [Will Stiffwell] late wife, how could he not like it!?”

I don’t know what’s worse: Seeing a ghost, or seeing Gloria? LOL!

You could see Doug Davidson misses working with Carolyn Conwell in his scene today.

Liked everything Katherine today!

STFU Bardwell.

ITA.

And Gloria is SOOOOO pathetic. All right, she's still grieving - and pigs will fly by tomorrow.

Phyllis. STFU!!!!

I still don't understand why Phyllis is trying to act like she's some damn holier-than-thou-never-done-wrong saint and her insistence that Dru is evil incarnate, going so far as to act as if she knows this from personal experience. What heinous thing did Dru do, that Phyllis herself hasn't done 10 times worse, that backs up Phyllis's claims? And she's been on this trip even before the Dru/Carmen confontations. A part of me is tempted to believe that perhaps Phyllis really is Sheila, perhaps explaining the exaggerated animosity she has for Dru and the Stepford wife routine; but that wouldn't make much sense for many reasons, including why would Sheila care.

Clearly, LML does not understand the Phyllis/Dru dynamic, nor does she understand most of the characters through-line on the show or how to write a consistent story.

Jana the Jack-of-All-Trades... what is up with this chick and why should I care?

Ji Min is growing on me. Too bad we won't get a Ji Min/Ashley pairing.

BOO HOO HOO, Gloria.

I mean really. Apparently getting knocked up by a Newman infects the women with Holier than Thou syndrome because Nikki and Sharon have that problem too. I think its a disease passed on by Victor. But hearing it come from Phyllis crazy asz is galling...At least Sharon is getting cured from by her divorce and seperation from them.

Jack Abbott is such a ASS! I hate him so much. It's not even the hate when fans are supposed to love hating the character. I really hate Jack. There's nothing about him anymore that I like. People refer him to Dallas' JR Ewing? No. JR was a likable bastard. Jack Abbott is not. If he's the last standing Abbott in Genoa City, then I want this family GONE!

Ji-Min is growing on me too. The actor does have chemistry with the cast. It's nice to see an Asian character in a front burner storyline as well.

I cannot wait until Phyllis has this baby. Hopefully, after the birth, the hormones will be gone and we'll get the old Phyllis back. That is, if this really is the old Phyllis

Why so much hatred for Gloria? I feel for Gloria. Sure, she's selfish, but she's in mourning. I hate what LML is doing with her though. Smith wrote Gloria as a loving wife to John. At the beginning of their marriage, I believed, like everyone else, that Gloria was into John for his money. Then, I started doubting that. I felt that she truly loved him. Then, LML is the new head writer, John dies and Gloria becomes obsessed with the suddenly rich William Bardwell.

Did anybody catch the man in the red sweater (no not Santa Clause!)? That was Andre Leblanc, the real life father of Christian Leblanc he was doing a cameo on the show.
