I'm sad that this is the end for A/C. But there's so much going on, Hogan's so busy setting up new stories... would it really make sense at this point to spend alot of time focusing on two characters who are going to be gone soon, anyway? I'd rather use what time I had to set up the new material for characters that viewers were going to be invested in for the long-term.

Still though, as an A/C fan from the early days, I'm a little sad. :(

You just summed up my feelings too. I love them but Hogan has so much going it wouldn't fit.

I understand where you're coming from King. I'm an Austin/Carrie fan as well. Austin/Carrie/Sami/Lucas is what got me hooked on DAYS in the mid-90s.

As of right now, people need to go and I'm sorry, but Austin and Carrie are expendable. They're not needed right now and could be sacraficed. Of course there's story to tell for every character, but when the soap needs to cut people, fans are going to be upset. That doesn't mean you stop watching the show. You get hooked on new material that interests you. What were you doing before Austin and Carrie got together? What were you doing when they weren't on the show? There's other stuff to seek interest in.

Exactly and I do think both characters need a break after the JER hell. They were both dragged through the mud. Sure, the exit deserved more then this but A&C just don't fit anymore. They haven't fit in for some time now and I don't know why. It's almost like the show passed them by or something. I do think CC will be back in the future but I don't know about Peck. I would rather see Muldoon next time but whatever.

The show is just too good right now to quit over A&C. A year ago, maybe but not now.

Haha, it all makes sense now.

Yeah I learned that lesson too. Just let RionPassions go.

How is the show good? I'm sorry, but no one can make it as good as JER. Anyone who says otherwise is talking nonsense.

It just depends on taste. What you like and what you dno't. Some people like alot of camp, some don't. Some like plot-driven, some don't. Some like character-driven, some don't. Different strokes for different folks.

Look, I was a JER supporter and still am somewhat to this day. Clearly, you have no idea what good writing is but, then again, being exposed to the inconsistent drivel Passions calls writing would do that to you.

Comparing Days right now and Passions (which is getting better but still) is like comparing the KC Royals to the NY Yankees. I can't tell you what to like but when you start comparing both shows it comes off as ridiculous. No one else would ever make that claim. Others may not like Days but saying JER could make it better then what we are getting right now is completely ludicrous. I understand your faves are leaving and you like JER but that statement really bothered me.

I was a JER supporter too. Maybe not to the extent that some where, but I had my moments when I defended him, and he had his storylines that were genious. I have to admit that.

Did JER ever "FIT" Days??? Not in my opinion. But thats just an opinion. I've watched for a very long time, and I think he was good, just not a good fit for "Days of Our Lives".

Does Sheffer "FIT" Days? In my opinion....Yes, so far.

So, taking the course of history and all the facts, I agree with your post. Saying any one writer can write a show better than another writer just doesn't hold water. Every writer has his or her niche. JER changed Days, but he didn't fit Days.

IMO, it's really hard to write a suitable send-off for A/C when they were brought back so weakly and given the flimsiest and silliest of stories. They were *very* heavily featured over the last few months as they slowly found their way back together. Now that they are together, however, where do they do from here? As far as I'm concerned, neither one of them should ever have been brought back in the first place (at least in the capacity that they were). It's obvious now, in retrospect, that they were clearly not brought back with any sort of definitive long-range plan for either characters. They were immediately thrust into a tired retred of their 1990s storyline (which, by the time it had concluded, had even grown stale *then*). They were horribly islanded and not connected to anything else going on on the show. At least they're going out together this time unlike the last time. At least this time they get their happy ending --- at least until one or both of them are brought back again. (and you know at least one of them will be at some point. No big Days star ever truly leaves Days for good)

Well, yeah. You're not a big A/C fan so why would you care?

I didn't give a rat's ass when it was J/J.

But I recognized that they have fans and plenty of story left. Saying that A/C are done and have no story is just silly. Welcome to soap operas. It's never ending storytelling. Being creative and making new stories for characters who have been through it all....that's what soap operas are.

Whatev. I'm sick of beating this horse.

Hey King... A/C were my favorite Days couple of all along with Bo and Hope. If this were their first go-round, I'd be honked off. But they've been on before and I view it as a chance to correct the royal F-up this couple got before (ya, Christie Clark's leaving the show caused it, but I never bought into Carrie/Mike).

For me it's not goodbye, it's just so long. I'm glad they got their happy ending, but so much more good stuff is going on for a change that their exits won't shake the show to its foundation.

How is the show good? I'm sorry, but no one can make it as good as JER. Anyone who says otherwise is talking nonsense.

Rion, to each his own... but as someone who would have loved to drink a whole keg when JER's last episode aired, I count my blessings this show has Hogan writing it now.

As of this episode, I am done with Days for good. I hope we Carrie/Austin fans get the happy ending we so deserve, and have been waiting 14 years for. It would be totally insulting for Hogan to cater to the Sami fans and make the Carrie/Austin departure even more painful for us fans than it already is. :(

Well, it's a shame that Days loses a viewer. The show needs all the viewers that it can get!! But if you feel that Days is no longer entertaining you, then you gotta do what you gotta do. I know I took a sabbatical from Days for about 2 years or so and threatened that I would NEVER watch the show again and teased people on this board and others about how Days' ratings were going to go down b/c JER killed off Alice, the matriarch of the show. Then I would get really upset when the ratings stayed the same or increased b/c I was so unhappy and frustrated with the direction of the show. So even though I don't agree with your assessment of Hogie's writing, I understand how you feel b/c that's how I felt when JER wrote for the show.

I truly hope that JER writes storylines that you like and makes you as happy with his writing on Passions as I am with Hogie's writing for Days!!!

Good luck and I'm going to miss seeing your comments in these Days' threads.....

Exactly. It was JER who ruined their return by regressing them back to the 90s. At least Hogan and his crew managed to give them something before they left (Austin finally realizing Sami was not the damsel that needed to be protected, and Carrie finally doing what we thought should have happened to Lexie during the SSK).

Sad to say, but A&C just didn't fit the new direction Hogan and his people are taking DAYS in. I'm sure they will be back in the future. You can never say never with DAYS.

I understand where you are coming from Rion, because I am a big A/C fan so I am sad too and was totally angry when it was announced they were fired. However that news broke in July or early August, so my anger has sizzled down and watching what Hogan has does and will do with the show helps get rids of the anger, I am still sad and a little bit mad about it, but I am able to deal with it now.

I do agree being a Caustin fan that they should have more than a one day send off, they deserve better because number one they are a big couple who has been apart for YEARS, and they unfortunately were brought in very bad under JER and got bad material under JER. But, I expected this, just because Hogan writes twice the pace half of the other writers do.

And I understand where you JER fan's are coming from, because I am kind of a fan too (after his last run on Days I started to dislike him, and some of what he did on Passions helped with that) and I was a little bit sad about him getting fired, but now I am not at all, I think it was Corday's best move ever because Beth and Hogan both ROCK!

But how can anyone honestly say Days was better under the JER we had to put up with the past three years? Yes I did enjoy the SSK storyline very much and some others of his during his last reign, but I mostly disliked all of his storylines (excluding some) from 2004

-2006, he did good in 2003 three though. I know he has his fans, but Days is ten times better now than it was under him, I mean it hasn't been this good in YEARS! If we were talking about the ninties JER I would understand better, but Hogan beats JER out in my book and unless Hogan falls like JER suddenly did after the nineties, he most likely always will.

I was fairly happy with Carrie and Austin's exit. I loved how she talked a lot with John, and he called her "punkin". After all, John raised her from 1986-1991. He's her real father, no matter what biology says.

I also like that Carrie mentioned returning one day, leaving hope for the future. And unlike last time Carrie left, she and Sami still hate each other, setting up future catfights. YAY! :D

It was a great episode. The wedding was great. Hall, Koz, AC, CC, DH, and AS were all great.

But their send-off was SO lackluster and insulting - the last scene, that is. No flashbacks or anything? They couldn't even get the end of the episode? Eh, WHATEVER.

At least everyone gave outstanding performances, and Austin threatened so throw Sami out on her ass.

I about died laughing when Austin said that to Sami, it was too funny.......
