GL Thread: Week of Oct. 9-13

GL is pushing to hard with this, because they've aged Leah to an unreasonable age. Rick and Mel have only been married four years, last May I believe. Someone would have to help me with that and they had a good marriage up until last fall when it was revealed Phillip was alive, so it hasn't been years.

I agree the aging of Leah has kind of screwed up a lot of the timeline but the line about the marriage being over for years isn't that much of a strecth because if you want to get technical Rick & Mel's marriage began to go down hill when Phillip kidnapped Jude & all the other kids. Mel didn't mourn Phillip's death & if I remember correctly didn't even attend the funeral.

Then Rick/Beth had that kiss at Towers about 2-3 months after Phillip's death & Mel saw them. She confronted Rick & nothing really ever got resolved. So it's been almost 2 years since they marriage has gone to hell so the line didn't bother me so much.

It just would have been such a better story if we saw Rick/Mel more these last 2 years & saw their marriage slowly crumble & see Rick/Beth slowly begin this affair, instead of through flashbacks.

The story could have been so much better but I agree that all included gave AWESOME performances. I have always been a fan of Yvonna Wright & hoped she'd get a story one of these days. IMO she could have been the next Maureen. That would have made this Mel/Rick/Beth story that much more like Maureen/Ed/Lillian (minus the fatal car accident).

The scenes between Leah and Ric were really good. I love Rick. I'm so glad he's back on contract. Then later when Mel was telling Leah that Rick was still her Dad even though he isn't perfect was a good scene too.

I guess Beth better watch her back with Alan. I wonder if he wants her to actually kill Ava, that's so extreme even for Alan :o I think Beth is going to end up going farther than Olivia expects.

I'm not really looking forward to Marina's ITL. Maybe it'll be better than I expect though.

I haven't been able to watch the show for two days. I can't wait to see the Mel/Beth confrontation but the only reason I bothered to tape Marina's ITL was because I heard Alan-Michael was going to be in it. <_<

Uh....what the heck is Beth up to with A-M? Please tell me her "options open" comment doesn't have anything to do with going 3-for-3 in bedding Spaulding males.

I only watched part of Marina's ITL. The interaction with Elanie was interesting. I didn't realize Marina kind of resented being taken away from her Dad. I like Marina following the Cooper tradition of being a police officer.

Marina isn't one of my favorite characters, but I like her better around Mallet and waay from AM.

I got around to watching Marina's ITL last night. Not bad and it showed that Mandy Bruno is a capable actress. Loved her little song and dance number of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'". I like A-M better with Marina than Ava but for some reason, I really like the Marina/Mallet dynamic. I think those two could work. I don't really like or care for either character apart but when these two are in scenes together, I find that I enjoy watching them.

That was the show that I felt like I was lost the whole day. I was enthralled on Tuesday with the Rick, Mel, Alan, Beth, and others on. It was the best show I had seen in several weeks since I started back watching daily. And then Wednesday lost me. There were just so many new faces that I just couldn't get used to it all. I know many of them are old characters but as I said in another post there are just too many new faces and when they are all on in one day - it gets confusing for me as a lapsed viewer returning.

Friday's show was the best to me of the week. I just loved it all. Reva and Jonathan were heartbreaking. I loved the Ava and Olivia scenes, and esp at the end. All were so good. The acting was tremendous. I loved the Josh and Tammy scenes too. It was just wonderful.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Marina or MB so I came into that episode not looking forward to watching it at all. It'll probably be my least favourite out of the week but it could have been much worse. I understand how someone who has just started watching would be completely lost. Marina hasn't been a central character for ages and to give her an ITL which is all about her is like telling someone hooked on drugs to go cold turkey.

Aww, Steve..you have me really excited for Friday's show now! I still have to watch Thursday's..what'd you think of it? I'm looking forward to the Beth/Alan-Michael scenes.

Thursday's show was good too. Not as good as Friday but tons better than Wednesday. As far as the week goes I rate them this way:

Friday - best

Tuesday - 2nd best

Thursday - 3rd best

Monday - next

Wednesday - way down at the bottom

The Beth / Alan Michael scenes were good, but for me the best part of Thursday too was the Olivia/Ava stuff that was building on Thursday and reached a boiling point on Friday.

I know that I have seen really quick that when GL wins a best episode in the Top 10 it seems Gus and Harley are always a part of it. So if they make it this week then some might choose Tuesday or Thursday. They weren't on Friday's show that I remember at all, but it was still the best show of the week to me. It was great from start to finish on Friday.

I think it's those crazy GusH fans that are stuffing the ballots when it comes to GL. Personally, I thought Friday's show last week kicked way more ass than Wednesday's.
