Grey's Anatomy: Discussion Thread

Well, yeah, Helen Keller could have predicted Ellis' death.

The season's overall theme is death of loved ones.

Izzy - Denny

George - Dad

Dith - Ellis

I also think Burke is going to die and then complete the cycle, giving Christina the death of her loved one, even though she's already mentioned her dead father.

As for Thursday's episode it wasn't as heartstopping as last Thursday, but still really good. The ending was really surprising when Meredith was "dead", but I doubt she's actually going to die. I'm really glad Izzie's suspension/probation is up too. Pretty good.

I disagree. I Found it to be a really powerful episode. I really can't stand Izzy. This started from the end of last season for me. Glad that Callie didn't smack her up, because then that would've given Izzy a reason to bad-talk Callie to George. Though I am annoyed of Izzy and not really a Izzy/Denny fan, I still loved the end with the two of them. All the actors blew me away in this episode. It even managed to make me care about Derek. Extra-big shout-outs to the portrayers of Meredith, Christina, Chief, Burke and Bailey.

I was having my problems with the show this season but since the buildup to George's dad's death, I have been hooked.

I had a feeling it would be meredith's mom who died, but I have to say this, "WHO THE HELL CARES." This character was on like 5 times total, it was a huge letdown, they acted as if a main character would die. I'm sorry but fans just weren't that invested in Meredith's mom, she wasn't on long enough for us to really care. The episode was very anticlimatic, but it wasn't a terrible episode.

I thought it was cool that Meredith and the spirits were walking the halls of the hospital. That scene at the end where Izzie & Denny sensed each other had me bawling.

I also cried when Christina entered Meredith's room and started crying, probably because she never shows emotions like that. I loved how the first thing she said to Meredith was that she's engaged to Burke. It seemed like she just had to get it out in case anything else happened to Mer.

I wasn't feeling Derek's pain as much. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the acting.

I disagree about Callie & Izzie, though. I thought Callie was cruel to point out how everyone close to Izzie dies and was hoping Izzie would slap her.

She was from the episode about the train accident. I think it was called "Into You Like a Train." She and an older black guy were attached by a steel rod that had penetrated through both of them and the docs could only save one. Her injuries were worse, so she knew she was going to die when the doctors pulled the two of them apart.

    • Another lot of skipped episodes to look forward to when the time comes on Videoland. So annoying. They have skipped so many, especially in  season 15 where they skipped 19 episodes throughout the season. Is it just me or is the vault down? It's like a different error message this time so it's hard to know if it's me this time.
    • thank you for uploading the rest of season 12!!! I hope i can get them soon the links down! Thank you again for posting the B&B classic episodes to revisit!!!!
    • Hmm, okay.  BTW, my only problem with Kai & the surgery story is where is this guy's family? And, another BTW, I think I may have inadvertently added to that rumor from last year about a male descendant of Justus Ward. You see, that is an idea I could really get behind! Like I would pay to see those scenes. And, true, I did hear it ... [sheepish grin]

Yes they can. While rare, its not like soaps in the past havent said F that and used flashbacks of a scene even when a recast has been done. OLTL used to do that
    • Well, I am glad to know that & for it to make sense, so thanks for the info &  the perspective, also. At the end of AMC 1.0, I thought the new young talent was really quite good, but I missed Eden & NuBianca just ... well, I wasn't 100% sold on her & Bianca was so important to me. But then, Tad & Dixie were also important & yep, there's another problem, for me I mean. I'm not your typical AMC fan but I hung in there anyway. I know what you mean because it wasn't as good as it once had been but it was still Agnes's show in Pine Valley. Some of that is a bittersweet nostalgic clinging to the past, I guess. By that time I'd been through so many show cancellations. AW, Santa Barbara, PC, The City, GL, ATWT.

Betsy Snyder, when she was at DAYS was part of the WGA winning writing team before she died, tragically far too young.
    • Yep Edmund and Tad went under cover to infiltrate the... Willow Lake (I think?) old folks community scandal that was exploiting Phoebe, etc.  (Which at one point led to Edmund rescuing Brooke from quicksand--common around Pine Valley I guess

) EDIT maybe I'm wrong.  I found the quicksand scene

But for the story all I can find is Edmund going undercover as the gigolo "preying" on older women, Eduardo (no one would recognize him with that disguise and name ) so the drag must have been.. a different story?
    • But then he HATES the original Heather Webber (Cher's half sister played her, right?) and we know what happened when Robin would step into the role a year after this.  He does seem pretty spot on about actors who show promise otherwise.  It's interesting he knocks OLTL early on (though I loved all the recently released episodes from this era we got) but does give a lot of credit to the actress playing Cathy despite earlier complaining about her story.  And over all, while quite negative, his various pros and cons on the shows sounds about right with what I know of the shows at this time. This was a July dated issue of the magazine but and I know they date mags a month or two in advance--obviously when he wrote this he didn't know Lovers and Friends was gonna go off the air (in May I think).
    • You know one of the soap outlets posed that question just last week: Who do you want Trina with Spencer or Kai? And, of course, the picture of Spencer was NAC. I said, well, a lot. I chose Kai. I said that Spencer had been an entitled brat & that some people valued him over her, when I valued her above all others. I guess we'll see.
    • You're right. The only thing I can think of is if GH finally decides to bring back Spencer.
