I tried to find it, but couldn't.

Using explorer:

- Tools

- Internet Options

- Settings (middle.....right)

- View Files (make you have enough room though......and scoll down)

Hopefully, we'll get CLASSIC (and I mean CLASSIC) episodes of GL and ATWT soon.

  • Member

The admin on the official site said they can't show ATWT/GL episodes because you have to get permission from EVERYONE involved in the episodes and it's a pain to do. When a show is cancelled it's different apparently.

I wonder if this is the same for DVD?

Grrrr.

Now, this is going to sound completely assbackwards, but I wish I could PAY for these episode. Damnit, why do they have to be free?! Granted, free is good because you get to watch them for...well...FREE. But I'm more than willing to fork over the dough to be able to d/l them and OWN THEM -- to be able to burn them to disc and keep them forever and ever. Damnit, P&G, charge some money! You've got at *least* 25 years of vintage soap opera (not counting ATWT & GL, you've got TEON, Texas, AW, & SFT and, surely, occaisional eps of Somerset, Lovers & Friends, FRFP, and others). I'd pay the $1.99 and ep (or more for a package deal or subscription) to own the soaps. And the revenue off material P&G just has laying around could surely be funneled into the production of both ATWT & GL.

Charge me some money!

Wham. Bamb. Some answers.....

AW#4081 (the 1st episode posted) aired Friday, 8/1/80. It was the final 90 minute episode of AW (NBC 2:30pm - 4:00pm). The following Monday (8/4/80), AW would shrink to 60 minutes and move to 2pm making room for the premiere episode of Texas at 3pm.

Thanks to the AW Home Page where I looked up the date of the wedding of Russ & Tracy.

It might be a good idea to download them, or if you can't, to watch them as soon as you get the chance. If that channel turns out to be like the In2TV channel, the early posted episodes might cycle off or disappear after a time. They might be showing them in chunks of episodes or staggering them. I posted that question at their message board so I'll post here if/when I get a reply.

Edge of Night...you're first on my list! I've missed ya so much! :D I've got DSL and the download is coming about 12 mbs a minute. Not bad. It's pretty cool that you can just add eppys to that Hi-Q Delivery Manager and just let your puter work overnight! :P You can also start watching before the download has finished. Cool beans!

I wonder what is the difference between old variety shows and other shows. Doesn't a channel like TV Land, for instance, not get to air as much classic variety shows because of all the guests involved? But then, why would all those old sitcoms with their guest stars be different? Or something like GSN, with its old game shows full of celebrities?

How do you download them to your computer?

  • Member

You must click on view it big size or something like that. A new page appears and you only have to follow instructions (download one or two things if you don't have them already) and it's perfect!

Just two dumb question, please enlighten me. :)

a) do you have to pay for those episodes (how much?)

B) does AOL's video program require any special demands. Re: does it work under Windows 98SE?

  • Member

sheilaforever -- it's free. And I'm not sure about it working under Windows 98. Odds are -- no, but give it a shot anyway.

Eeee ... I saw my first episode of Texas! And I'm off to watch some Edge of Night. I love this!

quite liking the EON episodes.

Is this thing causing fatal errors with anyone else's IE though?

I can't see the episodes. Can you tell me what to do?

It says in their FAQ that the minimum system requirements for watching the videos online (not downloading) are:

Windows® 2000 or higher, Mac OS 10.3 or higher

Windows Media® Player version 10.0 or higher

Internet Explorer 6.0, Netscape 7.2, Safari 1.0, Firefox 1.0.7, or AOL Explorer 1.0

An Internet connection: BYOA/LAN, DSL, Cable, (Dial-up users will experience long delays in playing videos.)

Pentium® class multimedia with sound chip or dedicated sound card

Pentium II (300 MHz minimum)

128 MB RAM

800x600 monitor resolution with 16-bit color depth

For downloading them, at minimum you need:

Windows® XP SP1

Windows Media® Player version 10.0 or higher

Internet Explorer 6.0

An Internet connection: BYOA/LAN, DSL, Cable (Dial-up users will experience long delays in playing videos.)

Pentium® class multimedia with sound chip or dedicated sound card

Pentium II (300 MHz minimum)

128 MB RAM

800x600 monitor resolution with 16-bit color depth

So you can't download them unless you have Windows XP.

BTW, a mod over there is checking into my cycling out/removing of videos question. He's not sure so he posted this:

Well I do know that they do cycle out old video assets from the In2TV video listings and continue to add new content. I am not certain that they will handle the other sponsor channels in terms of archiving assets, but I will inquire and repost when I have an answer.
