  1. He's going to lose advertisers and that will make it financial poison. Plus he has ZERO idea what he is getting into. NONE. I still don't believe he ever wanted to buy it anyway. For all the hotness of the used car market, the one thing that wasn't selling were Tesla's. As used cars were getting gobbled up by Carmax, Tesla's still sit on their lots. I do think the GM pulling their ads was partially motivated by Musk, but its going to come. That idiotic stmt he put out yesterday re-assured NO ONE. Maybe it should die.
  2. Now ur going to hear about other platforms in the works . I’ve been reading off snd on for months about the one Dorsey is leading and there are others. Face it Musk has no clue and despite the many issues with Dorsey, he certainly has a better understanding of the issue than Musk. And advertisers IMO will be fleeing twitter in mass give it 6 months
  3. This really pisses me off. I can't speak for Demmings because the Florida democratic party is a mess. Beasley though won a statewide race and they should have invested in her versus Fetterman. Makes me so angry.
  4. I hear you but I choose to ignore all of them. I don't think the Sienna poll was viable due to the small sample size PLUS the swing of independent women in a month from +14 for democrats to +18 for the GOP. That's just not believable. Plus having done deep canvassing I have talked to lots of independents and GOP suburban women and the idea that abortion is not a key issue is *orseshit. Plus we all know the media is hooked on the GOP. And I can't trust the media one bit as they ignore the fact the GOP is threatening to kill the world economy if they take the house. The press has covered it but I have read enough social media to know that the news networks, cable and non cable, have ignored it. For that reason I can't take any of this hyperventilating seriously. Am I scared - yep - will any of this discourage me as it's designed to - hell no. And there are a lot of people that feel the same way.
  5. I don't believe the polls. I hear abortion is not a big issue anymore but I have been engaged in deep canvassing the past 2 months - by phone and in person in Wisconsin. I can guarantee you this is not the case. We have been focusing on independent and suburban republican women. That is not the case. I've also been doing voter registration and women are outregistering men 2 to 1. Do we really beleive this is because of inflation? I know people here know it but stop listening to the Beltway media and work. I am no fan of Michael Moores by any means but he is right. We are more than they are. So get out and help. You can goto Indivisible and register to help deep canvass by phone. And you are not calling die hards you are calling people who claim to be independents. And surprisingly most I have talked to are when it comes to abortion and you might be shocked at how many women are outraged. the media is run by white men. So of course the narrative is going to parrot their own priorities and what they think. If anything it's shaken people to disbelief. I had one GOP suburban voter tell me "even the main stream media lies to us". She was talking about how abortion is not important. It's not to say inflation is not an issue but I can tell you from those I talked to nothing compares to taking rights away. NOTHING. So volunteer, call and door knock if you can. The media has been wrong for how many years. Stop listening and start working, if you can. Although listening just confirms their continued bias.
  6. I doubt anyone cares to be honest . The only ones making this some sort of gotcha are the braindead right wingers. She was always a racist and homophobe and adored that genocider Modi.
  7. I think it's a case of money now. He doesn't have the funding. Point is twitter has not dropped their suit at this point. Probably because they knew why he backpedaled. Maybe if he comes up with the full funding they will.
  8. When he backed out of the deal, they filed suit against him. He was set to lose and was going to testify tomorrow or Friday. In fact he may still be scheduled to. That was the entire reason for his backpedaling. He was going to lose.
  9. Anyone with a brain knew that the only reason he was doing this was to avoid having to testify. Plus the suit was not dropped by twitter against him. I have no idea why the media yet again falls for this or why people frankly here did. He's a bold faced liar.
  10. Good heavens Elon Musk can't abandon HIS legal battle. The suit was filed by twitter against him. I wish these news organizations would get things right or stop framing tweets for clicks and not for truth.
  11. Part of me thinks this is a ploy for him to help CNN and vice versa. Yeah I am cynical enough to believe that.
  12. Thanks @xtrall very helpful. Some of the gvmt stuff is not much different than the private section. You have to use certain keywords in your resume or it will be rejected regardless of your actual qualifications. My biggest ? is the politics. Should my brother worry about that or not and while it should not impact his job, one can never tell in the times we are in right now.
  13. I figured I would start a new topic on this. My brother has a friend who has encouraged him to apply for a job with the US Census bureau. He's a statistician and has a lot of database experience. I know there was someone out here who worked for the federal gvmt. Can anyone share any insight on the process to apply, the interview process, and most importantly is now a good time to apply? I am frankly concerned for him and as much as I don't have a lot of faith in the private sector, I think that would be a safer bet at this point. Thoughts?
  14. Thank you for explaining @I Am A Swede. It's very hard for many of us who have never lived under a monarchy or with a monarchy to understand it. That said, we here in the US have a ton of flaws including the president living in his own "palace" and expecting especially in this day and age for the president to wave a wand and fix everything as a single ruler might do. My dad had Swedish ancestry on his fathers side and on his mothers, UK ancestry and he never talked favorably about monarchy lol. But I consider the source and nature of the times he grew up in. I wonder if you consider your own King similar to Elizabeth in that he became King at a very young age and has been king since what the mid 1970's? He must be in his 70's or early 80's at this point. And I think there might be something to be said in having someone apolitical in a role many in the country has some level of respect for. The Queen did do that in the UK, although I can't imagine her having any sort of favorable opinion of that idiot Boris Johnson. Charles is political so will that change? And his media tour with the new PM? Oh well
  15. Queen Elizabeth had been failing since Prince Phillip died and likely even before. I mean no disrespect, yet her death cannot have been a shock and it seems to me they have been preparing the public for it for months now. I have no doubt it was sad for a lot of people. She's really the only beloved member of the royal family left. There might be some affection left for Diana's children, I don't know. It was not a shock to me. Am I sad for those who loved and/or admired her of course. But as someone who doesn;t really care and who has never cared about the royal family, I won't say I am heartbroken. For those who are I am very sorry. Like Carl said she was basically a figurehead and there is much to admire about her. I would say she knew a heck of a lot more about the Brits than any PM in office in the past 40 plus years. And through everything she managed to master the technique of staying apolitical. That in itself is a huge accomplishment. She was so young when she became queen and there will not be another like her.
  16. I hear you but honestly I think those "celebrations" and dancing on her grave are not the norm. I don't see anything wrong with those saying they are not sad she died. The royal family holdings are estimated to be around 30 billion dollars. That doesn't belong to one person of course and some of those assets are managed by the state, but it begs to answer the ? about reparations and why those talks are shut down such as they are here in the US simply because it happened generations ago. The wealth of the royal family is based on colonization and what was taken from those lands. It's not unreasonable to expect some sort of reparation from them. That said, a lot of the tourism in the UK is due to the royal family. So paring it down versus eliminating makes sense. It doesn't discount the reparations that are owed still to those who were used and abused. On a side note there is ZERO reason for protecting Andrew. I understand a mother protecting her child and allegedly Andrew is her favorite, but there is no excuse and Charles will go up a few points with me if he dumps Andrew and lets the legal system take over. Those who defend him or the members of the royal family that defend him carry no merit. That includes the Queen.
  17. Honestly, I don't care about the monarchy in the UK or really anywhere. That said, I think there is a lot to admire about Elizabeth and it's understandable that so many cherish her. The criticisms of, maybe not her personally, but the monarchy upon her death I don't believe are tasteless. There are people all over the world who suffered and are still suffering from the impact of colonialism. And criticisms of the Irish for their reaction to her death is unwarranted. They also have a very messy history related to the monarchy. And when exactly is a good time. It's the same BS we get here in the US when there is a mass shooting - oh now is not the time to talk about it. There is never a right time. I have reservations about Charles, but frankly if he does reduce the size of the monarchy, use his influence regarding climate change, and does something more about his brother Andrew(rumors are that they are and have been on the outs for years), maybe he just might be effective. Still don't like him and his suitcases full of cash from the Saudi's. It's all good and well that he rebuffed Chinese leadership some years back when they visited the UK, but like many in our own county, has absolutely no issue with the Saudi's frankly is disturbing. He also clearly set up William and Kate for that disastrous tour of the Caribbean. A parent who does that is to keep them "in line", well enough said.
  18. I'm curious what folks thinks about Hugo Lowell with The Guardian. I have always found him to be a pretty solid US congressional reporter and his work on the search and recovery of documents at Mar-a-lago has been pretty good. It seems he has gotten more attention as a result. I just hope it doesn't tarnish him.
  19. I haven't watched cable news in almost a year and it's done wonders for my mental health. And frankly when you look at the numbers compared to the actual population, it's pathetic. I have never understood Tapper's appeal or gifts. I have never seen it. Whatever shift is allegedly happening at CNN - well I don't watch but it's not like they were not pushing GOP talking points already. They are not going to gain any audience and will end up losing some of what they had. Oh well boo hoo.
  20. There should be 13 justices. One for each circuit. And we have a long way to go for expansion, win congress, legalize Roe, court challenges and SCOTUS then overturns a law passed by congress. At that point people will be ready to deal with this crooked court.
  21. Wow she was one of those people I thought would live forever, She had what 3 cycles of cancer. She was incredibly brave and her husband grew marijuana on their ranch for her. It seemed to help her. I saw her interviewed about 2 months ago and she seemed her usual perky self. Such a lovely kind unbelievably talented woman. She will be missed. One of my favorite performances of hers with Jim Brickman.
  22. Leave it to the Beltway media to find a "bad" win for dems in the vote in Kansas. They are not even hiding their bias at this point What does the abortion-referendum vote in Kansas tell us about November? - The Washington Post
  23. Hard to say. I don't know that Kansas is as ruby red as a southern state. I think it's more a victim of the Koch family propaganda. I mean they did chase Brownbeck out of office(his Koch utopian agenda was a disaster) and rejected Kobach as Governor in favor of Laura Kelly. That being said, it may not be Alabama but it still is a red state. And suburban women generally are still lite republican leaning IMO.
  24. The "experts" have been so BAD predicting this. I know there are some here who think abortion rights being stripped won't lead to a tidelwave. The most important part of this in Kansas is that 74% of people that registered to vote after the Dobbs decision were women.
