  1. OMG, just look at those shares!
  2. @Antoyne You remember Charlie appearing to her for days, right? Do you remember her getting increasingly upset with the appearances? Besides that I think the only thing memorable was what seemed to be a psychotic break. TB did it up fine.
  3. Yes. The sequence where Shane the king is bored, Kimberly the queen is bored, etc. & many jesters had tried to entertain them & then Kimberly says that they can't be happy until Princess Eve is returned home. So, they're not bored, it's that they're worried, etc. & dressed as a jester Calliope does some bits, pretty corny, and then says she will save the Princess. Supposedly that is the scene that inspired the creator. Key element: female jester. Then, he heard her voice as the voice so that got the next gig underway. Is it at all compelling that this other voice actor announced her death?
  4. RIP Arleen Sorkin at 67, Calliope on DAYS, the inspiration for Harley Quinn.

  6. I'm trying to find the first week of March in 1979 & I'm not finding it. Am I just being blind today?
  7. I love this clip! Donna: Tanqueray! (A gin brand) Donna: Rachel has completely lost her mind. 🤔🙄😦🤨😉👊🤣 Rachel: Bay City seems to be attracting filings like a magnet. Who wrote this script?!!!
  8. The Beverlee petition is at 110 names, shooting for 200 & has been completely rewritten. https://chng.it/JBsh8Y9tkk Growing up, my mother introduced me to the captivating world of soap operas through her beloved show Another World. I vividly remember being enthralled by the mesmerizing performances of its talented cast, particularly that of Beverlee McKinsey, who portrayed the iconic character Iris. Her portrayal was nothing short of extraordinary and left an indelible mark on daytime television. It is with great admiration and respect that I write this petition to urge the National Academy of Arts & Sciences for Daytime to award a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Emmy to Beverlee McKinsey. Her contributions to the soap opera genre were unparalleled, and she deserves this prestigious recognition for her outstanding body of work. Beverlee's portrayal of Iris on Another World was so compelling that it led to the creation of another soap opera called Texas centered around her character. This speaks volumes about her immense talent and ability to captivate audiences with her nuanced performances. Not only did she leave an indelible mark on Another World, but she also graced our screens as Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light. Her portrayal in this role further solidified her status as one of the greatest actresses in daytime drama history. Beverlee McKinsey has been hailed by many as one of the best actresses in daytime drama, often referred to as "the Greta Garbo" or "the grande dame" of soaps. Her ability to bring depth, complexity, and authenticity to every scene is unmatched even today. While statistics may not fully capture Beverlee's impact on viewers' lives or quantify her immense talent accurately, they do reflect some aspects worth considering. During her time on Another World and Guiding Light, both shows experienced significant increases in ratings and viewership due in large part to Beverlee's exceptional performances. Moreover, numerous reputable sources have recognized Beverlee McKinsey's extraordinary contributions to the soap opera genre. Her work has been praised by critics, industry professionals, and fellow actors alike. These accolades further validate her status as a true legend in daytime television. By awarding a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Emmy to Beverlee McKinsey, we would not only honor her incredible talent but also pay tribute to the rich history of soap operas. It would serve as a reminder of the profound impact she had on millions of viewers and inspire future generations of actors in this genre. Join me in signing this petition to persuade the National Academy of Arts & Sciences for Daytime to recognize Beverlee McKinsey's unparalleled contributions by awarding her a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Emmy. Let us celebrate her legacy and ensure that her remarkable talent is forever remembered and cherished. Thank you for your support in honoring an actress who touched our lives through her unforgettable performances on Another World and Guiding Light.
  9. Thank you. I am a fan of PFS but admittedly most of my knowledge of her is about DAYS & GH & I have many quotes from her. Learning more about her at other soaps is a bonus!!
  10. Okay, thanks! I knew there had been a situation where the show & PFS did not gel. It was just GL, got it.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this one of the two times when PFS was only HW of a specific show (GL & RH) for one 13 week work cycle? My information was that this was an example of a HW & a show just not being a good fit. What they wanted her to write she said was impossible. What she wanted to write they did not want.
  12. I'll never forget that pitch fork death. Ugh. Hurt to watch that. And, Liberace & Felicia was HUGE.
  13. No, we've known Ava was in the looney bin for some time. And, I don't believe Susan is dead. No body.
  14. Recall the 1996 LA Times item abt CBS asking the Bells for a new soap the yr before? Basically CBS was using the threat of expanding the Bell "empire" as a weapon against P&G so they would go along with what CBS really wanted. P&G played right into their hands. CBS handed down mandates of changes to ATWT & GL. The 1995 executive shuffle came from a CBS directive. Laibson to GL, Valente to ATWT & Jill to AW. It was the yr before that Trach finally retired as P&G in Charge of Production & Ken Fitts stepped up into that spot, new to it since he had previously only been a show EP. Surmise is that Lucy Johnson waited till Trach retired to pull this stuff because Trach wouldn't have allowed P&G to be their patsy. Under Fitts P&G rolled over & said, We'll do anything you want just don't cancel us. Laurie Caso with his years of experience was left out in the cold during the shuffle. Moonves having no idea what he was doing recommended Black & Stern to HW ATWT! All 3 NY P&G soaps were in the beginnings of big trouble.
  15. I thought someone finally put an end to "Day Ahead". Did they just put morning & afternoon on the same episode & continue to allow the morning broadcasts?
  16. Yabbut they are literally on hiatus half of the time. Being dark is regular as rain to them. There shouldn't ever be an effect showing of them being back at the game.
  17. https://shallotpeelblog.org/2023/08/25/blog-249-v-2-1-star-billing-in-us-soap-operas/ The YouTube link for How to Survive a Marriage was a faulty link & it has been replaced with a correct one & 2.1 issued.
  18. Jean Arley was the Producer of OLTL at this time and the show sucked during her reign. She was not a right fit for OLTL.
  19. Two pix from an Engineer at AW Chris is his 1st day. Bottom
  20. If I didn't know better I would think this was scab writing because Trask seems just all over the place.
  21. Shout out to Shawn Reeves, Costume Designer! If they could've gotten her back to the studio or even if they could've had a crew shoot her at home & edit her in, they would've done so for GH60. They had plans & contingencies & every time they had something set up, some event would happen & prevent it. Er, some event did happen & prevent it. Specifically for GH60 it was a fall & she bruised her face so it couldn't be hidden.
  22. I have a new Minority Rapport! Apparently I am the only person who does not like TempEric. But I love having a new STFU. STFU Roman enough about the chowder!
  23. 5 different entities tried to either buy AW or partner with P&G for AW to air in 1998 & in 1999. Angela Shapiro was ABC's envoy to P&G. She wanted to buy the show. Some said she was prepared to run 5 soaps a day. Not sure about that part. Apparently then after they said no, she wanted to buy the character "Felicia Gallant", which was another no. So, she came up with what I call "Shapiro's Folly", that because I believe she could've had Linda Dano as a successful character on ONE SHOW instead of the failure of Rae searching for that child on each show. I talked to one of the show HWs after the fact about what they thought about it. No surprise they all hated it being thrust upon them & having to work it into their stories. I was one of Tom Freeman's AW Fan Brigade, even though Tom was gone to another country by then, and we were bitterly disappointed that these opportunities showed up in the business news & none of them came to pass. Personally I thought that ABC & Fox would both have been great chances for continued life for the show.
  24. Do you think more "scandals" got reported? I kinda do.
