HBO: Game of Thrones
Yeah, I should have known better than getting my hopes up it would happen but they got me. They were, once again, so close.

HBO: Game of Thrones
I don't have much to add beyond Vee's initial post on the episode. It was terrific! I'll just do it quickly: Wow wow wow at Cersei and Margaery’s conversation. LOL at Lysa's screams! How much time does Jojen need to mourn and get over his brother's death? “A fortnight?” “That seems reasonable.” Heartbreaking to see Sansa so childlike and let down her defenses and then have Lysa go nuts on her. Brienne and Podrick=amazingness. Jon Snow fighting=sexy as all f.uck. Heartbreaking that Bran was SOOOO close but he and Jon didn't get to reunite.

HBO: Game of Thrones
Very good episode! It was a surprise to see Dany's story open the episode. It was a lovely moment when she declared she was going to answer injustice with justice and you could just see the effort to remain determined, powerful. She's really trying her best but still is very young and knows very little. Jaime giving Brienne the sword and armor and then the oathkeeper scene really got to me. I'm confused as to why people claim they never saw anything between them. If you watched season 3 and season 4, how could you not pick up on it? lol I squealed at Podrick going along with Brienne. Glad to see they stuck with the way Joffrey was murdered in the book. When they didn't mention the missing stone last week, I thought they might have changed it. Petyr marrying Lysa is a great twist. Oh, I cannot wait for that dysfunction to hit our screens again! Olenna's (presumably) final scene was another diamond and how absolutely perfect was Margaery's visit to Tommen? They had to make her put Tommen out of her spell but without crossing that line and, indeed, great execution. Tommen (what a little actor he's growing up to be) played those smitten moments amazingly. Of course, I don't trust it for a minute. Something is bound to go horribly wrong. Jon is really showing truly remarkable abilities and I love how he's actually starting to talk more. Kit Harrington can give all the speeches he wants. Super excited by the stuff with Bran/the mutineers. The lovely Burn Gorman is the absolutely best at these types of character and what a horribly twisted scenario that was over at Craster's Keep. Really loved that Bran, Jojen and Meera were captured. And how exciting with the White Walkers!!! Since season 1 I've had the impression those kids were eaten or something but instead, we get this ritualistic scene and, suddenly, everything changes. Wonderful. I could have sworn Sam told him he saw Bran? Are you really asking why she didn't let nasty sociopathic pig Joffrey f.uck her beloved granddaughter?

HBO: Game of Thrones
Agreed, they're definitely teasing us with it. Then again, theoretically, that would make it more exciting when/if something happens with Loras (who is never going to be anything but a C character, given the insane amount of people on the show lol ... but you never know, they drop like flies). Oh my, why did you have to plant the idea of bisexual Jon in my head? Now I'm gonna wish for it every time I see him. lmao It's definitely a precarious situation they're in. They are damned if they do, damned if they don't. Outcry! and Outrage! if Tyrion hasn't been shown for five episodes, but the more stuff they make up, the more they get yelled at for it... usually. And how much can you expand when your cast makes GH's cast list look small? (As for Dany, season 2 is my least favorite season of hers but I also liked it regardless). LOL Dany's story is especially un-TV friendly. It's all about her learning to lead and to use/gain power while her dragons grow. Hard stuff to make into TV (and yet I think they've been 99% successful at it). I will say this -- no matter what the intentions of cast and crew were, their public relations should have been smart enough to tell them not to ever, ever, enter into a conversation/explanation of the scene beyond some pre-arranged, generic response that left the rest on the audience's judgment. They messed up BIG time by 1) talking about it and 2) not having a common message/response across the board. PR 101.

HBO: Game of Thrones
I think this is mostly an example of a casualty due to the differences between the two mediums of books & TV. Because of the seasonal aspect of the TV show, a character who pretty much does very little from episodes 2-7 is clearly going to be considered stuck/stalling/even boring. Meanwhile, in the book, it can be over 300 pages since we last saw the character and it's absolutely fine because space & time works differently (if that makes any sense). However, what's the show to do? No choice but to create some extra scenes and/or wait until the various plot developments align themselves. Add to that that the books are about the journey and not the destination, as well as their generally slow pace, and it can be very difficult to translate that well into a show for some of the characters.

HBO: Game of Thrones
I really love Stannis and Davos, as well as Melisandre. Even though I do hate to bring it up again, I do think they come off better in the books because so much of that part of the story is very internal. Davos' thoughts/chapters are really great, fascinating, and that clearly is not something you can do much of on TV. And, still, their dynamics, personalities, their little corner of Westeros is great.

HBO: Game of Thrones
Well, the truth is Oberyn really hasn't done much other than talk about sex up until now so I'm not surprised he comes off this way. But (non spoiler) knowing what's coming up it seems they are using these scenes to give the character something to do until some of his bigger stuff comes up later. They might also be building up to sex with Loras, although that's pure speculation. Aaaaw, no worries. That's what I mostly enjoyed: his little side convo about bisexuality (and the later stuff with Tywin, of course). Other than that, the rest of the scene wasn't that exciting lol
-
HBO: Game of Thrones
I mustn't be communicating well today because I never said depiction of bisexuality was new. All I said was that it felt like an authentic representation of bisexuality, when usually it's treated as people being greedy, indecisive, or always needing to like one more than the other. But absolutely YAY for equal opportunity male-on-male nudity!
-
HBO: Game of Thrones
Um, OK. I think it's exciting. Especially, from all shows, that it happened on GOT.
-
HBO: Game of Thrones
All this RAPE DRAMA and yet no one's commented on the fact that we finally saw a depiction/explanation of bisexuality that felt authentic! lol

I don't know what I was expecting to read when I opened the thread but it was definitely not pages upon pages of whether it was rape/Jaime is a rapist! I had kind of forgotten all about it by the end of the episode, tbh. But let me weigh in since I did watch the scene and I don't really care that it was different in the book, even though I love the book: It didn't seem to me that the scene was at all about rape. At all. Save for some discomfort it caused initially because I wasn't sure Cersei would consent, I was more shocked by the fact that these people were going at it by Joffrey's dead body. Which is what this scene was all about: Their sick, twisted, nasty, disgusting desire for each other no matter what. Yes, Cersei objected--but only to the location and timing of the sex, not the sex itself. She clearly said it: "Not here." She kept telling him it's not right yet she kissed him, her hand resting on his chin. She grabbed his jerkin with passion. She wrapped her legs around him. She may have hated herself for wanting Jaime, but want him she did. It was supposed to be ugly and uncomfortable and sick. Welcome to the world of Cersei and Jaime! Anyway, I didn't expect the show to pick up right where it left off. I thought it was very nicely done the way they showed Sansa running through the streets of King's Landing only to end up with Petyr. And Olenna's nonchalant reaction was awesome, as well. Although it appears they have changed the way Joffrey was poisoned, so I'm not sure anymore how they're doing it. The scene with Pod was touching. I was left a little cold in regards to everything with Sam and Gilly. Can't pretend I care much. Davos and Stannis' daughter are fantastic together. The ending scene had excellent FX. My God, how does a show pull stuff like that off? Very nicely done.

The showrunners on episode 4.2. Obviously, do NOT go anywhere near this if you are unspoiled/haven't watched yet. As always, great to hear their thoughts http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/04/13/game-of-thrones-showrunners-joffrey-wedding-interview/

HBO: Game of Thrones
What an exquisite episode. Truly marvelous. The stuff with Ramsay and Theon was very hard to watch. Theon is just a crushed, destroyed man and it's heartbreaking. Talk about redemption by way of total destruction. The slight change in the situation with Shae didn't bother me because I don't believe she truly left. Which means the show can still do what happened in the book. Actually, all these extra scenes work better for me than the book because The images Bran saw in his vision were terrifying. The destroyed, snowy throne room I recall seeing before but I'm not sure about the dragon flying over King's Landing or the white walker looking in the mirror and so on. Truly terrifying if that's a glimpse of the future in the show. I didn't expect the wedding feast to last 21 minutes but it sure did and I loved every single moment of it. Everything set in King's Landing was so marvelously, gorgeously produced. And all the little details--Margaery's looks of disgust. Varys wanting to be anywhere else but there. Cersei's unstoppable hate for Tyrion. Sansa showing some support to her husband. Oberyn and Loras exchanging that sexy look. Olenna remaining expressionless and yet saying it all. Joffrey's slowly building boredom. The Brienne/Cersei exchange. And the death--oh, they made it just as painful and horrible-looking as I had hoped for! Just yes, yes, yes. And I felt for Cersei a little bit as she yelled, "Take him! Take him!" Exciting to read everyone's guesses as to who is behind Joffrey's murder. The answer is fun!

No, Oberyn's sister Elia was married to Aerys Targaryen's (the Mad King) son, and then she and her children were murdered by The Mountain, after Tywin, Ned and Robert took over the throne (following Jaime killing the Mad King). So that would make him... Dany's sister-in-law's brother.

HBO: Game of Thrones
If you're asking whether Jaime knows he's Joffrey's father, yes he does. He doesn't care. He's keeping his distance so as not to raise suspicion and therefore all he can claim to be is the King's uncle. And he has to treat him as the King. New guy? You mean Oberyn, who stabbed the Lannister and had a scene with Tyrion?

HBO: Game of Thrones
SPOILERS for Season 4, Episode 1: Lovely opening scene. The guy playing Oberyn is great and I'm excited they played up his gay side a lot I dare any of the Sansa detractors to not feel for her as she tells Tyrion about Robb & Catelyn's deaths. And there was something very endearing about her in her scene with Dontos. Meanwhile, Olena is killing me with her one-liners. Jaime & Brienne forever. That is all. Daario got a very sexy face change and I love the actor. I can see the pairing happening, now. Jon handled the Night's Watch assholes like a BOSS. Also, I like that they made sure they pointed out the fact that, if Ygritte really wanted to kill Jon, she would have. Squeee! I was very interesting in seeing Arya take that dark step towards killing people off her list. I'm surprised she was shown smiling at the end, but that's just it, isn't it? The rules are different.

GAME OF THRONES broke HBO Go and Twitter has responded accordingly. It's amazing.

Melrose Place
I am. One of the best decisions they ever made. Agreed! It felt kinda sad when every friendship on the show was trashed and backstabbing was all that happened, 24/7. I loved all those friendships. The show would have been wished not to have destroyed all of them. I have never in my life come across people who actually liked Rhonda before I highly, highly, doubt this had anything to do with them only finding use for "one token character." Not that Spelling shows were a hotbed for diversity, but Rhonda was cut for one reason: She was an insipid, boring, utterly annoying character played by an even worse actress. Truly cringeworthy.

Peyton Place
Up to episode 40. The Elliot Carson mystery is so, so good. Paul and his father Calvin just showed up, and in just two episodes already have (deep) connections to Matt, Connie and Allison. It's such a complicated, well-written, fascinating story. I can't wait to see how it develops. Meanwhile, the scene were Betty is almost raped by Roy Roberts because he doesn't realize she was genuinely refuting his advances instead of playing around with him, after which he fatherly comforts her and then gives her money for the train fare, advising her to go back home, is so complex and nasty and heartbreaking. Did they really allow stuff like this to air in '65? Love it!
