  1. Yes, I guess DYNASTY as we know it was more like Season 2 or 3 (although, you can see some of the elements in Season 3 that overtook after it and destroyed the show). I believe the Bollocks were there until almost the end (THE COLBYS wasn't there until Season 6 of DYNASTY). They only relinquished control during Season 9.... And they were responsible for the brilliance of Season 2 and they UTTER HORRIBLENESS of the rest. :S
  2. LOL I never thought of that as a reason not to like it... I guess because I didn't feel that anything was dropped, just evolved. Walter, Matthew and Lindsay I liked, but it was OK that they were gone. But that's not any more or any less than any other show's exiting characters between seasons. Unless you're talking about something else I haven't thought of?
  3. How can you say that!!!??? REPENT! Or I shall call the Soap Police. Season 1 is probably the best first season out of all the Big Four. Yes, I believe it even surpases KNOTS LANDING. Season 2 was great, but the brilliance of Season 1... wow... there is this bitter humor and social commentary that Season 1 does.... just fantastic. And greatly plotted, fantastic dialogue, great performances  REPENT!
  4. I've never heard of FRESNO either!!!
  5. Word, word, word to everything. Season 3 is just brilliantly dark--even the weather seems bleak, dark, moody, versus the sunshine of previous seasons. "The Three Sisters" is one of the most brilliant hours of TV... just a fabulous episode on all levels. There is just no denying it! And, yes, Silver Shadows is also a wonderful episode. It's such a great study of Abby's character, it's worth it even if you just watch the episode through that prospective. Joe was just great, I really missed him when he left. And the cliffhanger for the season was just wonderfully, wonderfully climactic. Great stuff. But that episode with Cricket, the little girl Val takes under her wing? Boringness! Possibly the worst of that season.
  6. I haven't even watched since Season ... 3 I believe? I came back for Season 4 for a little while but then completely gave up on it. Such crap!
  7. I believe I watched the first episode of HIDDEN PALMS... or did I? I wonder if it's online....
  8. Great post, Eric! I'm glad you started the thread. I'm only on episode 10 so it's all pretty new; however, I have remained basically completely unspoiled (I believe I only know of something bad that happens to Betty in a few episodes' time) and it's amazing discovering the show. I have shared many of the same thoughts concerning the show. I am amazed with the wonderful production values; the show looks terrific, very cinematic and very, for the lack of a better word, moody. The acting is also wonderful. I had never seen the actors of the show in any other roles before, so it is very easy for me to accept what I see. But, to me, the biggest success is the writing; such wonderful, layered, multi-dimensional writing and the scripts, as you say, are ALL top notch. Not one moment of bad writing, no WTFs or ridiculous dialogue. At all. It's really fascinating for I don't think I have ever seen writing like this. Who's your favorite character? I definitely adore Betty. That moment in, I think, the second episode were she "reveals" her more angry, vengeful self is probably one of my favorite soap moments ever; up until then, she was sweet, wholesome, just a tiny bit slutty. And, when she is terribly hurt by Rodney's leaving her, she adopts this look. And you knew inside that this would happen, and at the same time you didn't. Just amazing. They're doing a great job of showing her hurt, thus being able to really justify her actions. But--I don't know how popular this will be--I am also completely fascinated with George. I LOVE the character and I LOVE the actor. Such a multi-faceted, complex character. He is not turned into some monster, even though he is an abuser, and the actor imbues him with such heart and unspoken pain that it's hard to describe. The scene were Dr. Rossi confronts him about his addiction to pills and then George goes into this looooooooong monologue about something that happened to him when he was an athlete is just chilling. I hope great things are in store for George (please don't spoil meeeee!) I'm surprised to hear they didn't have a bible, though.... Everything is so well-planned out that that seems impossible! But who knows. By the way, this Robert J Saw, didn't he also write for FALCON CREST? Or am I just making that up? And you skip the titles? Tsk tsk tsk, never! All the soap's titles are part of the experience for me. I cannot imagine watching DALLAS without listening to that theme first! Of course, I do not watch the previews, those are evil. But I do watch the previous episode's preview to remind me of what happened before I go on to the next I also have one episode of OUR PRIVATE WORLD and I remember it looked cheap. It was a few years ago, so I'll probably rewatch it and see how I feel about it now.
  9. I thought it was LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING....
  10. All of the episodes of TITANS used to be on YouTube... I've downloaded them but am not sure if they're still up there....
  11. Ricky Martin--She Bangs
  12. OMG What a shock to see her in her first episode! I had never so much seen a single photo of hers from an earlier era.... I just feel sad they didn't use her more since the 70s... it was decades before they brought her on permanently.... She will be so missed.
  13. Just go with CORRIE.
  14. The way Blanche insists that Ken is gay--and the random references to his gayness--always got me.
  15. Oh, Maggie.... The AA meeting scenes were indeed just pure gold... Meanwhile, Joe smashing his way into the medical centre in search of pills made it far easier to accept all the months of his addiction. (yeah, I'm still watching Aug eps ) It was a good, unexpected climax.
  16. I'm just watching July episodes, but it's plain that Syd has GOT to die! Don't tell me if she does, I wish for her to die an unexpected, painful death!
  17. And so it begins. I just hope the whole show doesn't become just a promotional vehicle--that they keep using songs for their connection to the plot, and not because Madonna offered it to them or something. On a more positive note, I just watched the first three episodes--I am very much enjoying the show! Really fun.
  18. All I have to say is that I hope he can make the show a bit better than it is right now.
  19. That's it? Just a Beyonce/Lady Gaga rip-off? No obscene threesome other than a few vague dance moves? Britney, Queen of the Scandal, you disappoint...
  20. Screw that, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and buy Circus
  21. Hold up! Don't tell me that's how much this box set costs???
  22. Damn! That looks fabulous! Maybe buying the box set will make up for not buying her previous album (Shhhhh)
  23. I might buy the album just for that!
