  1. Indeed, the SAG Memoriam is like that of BAFTA and the British Soap Awards. There is no cost to use footage because the clips are so short, so they fall under the fair use exceptions in the Copyright legislation. Instead, it's that the Academy is simply so lazy and heartless that they do nothing to honour the people who created and sustained the industry. I only hope Jackie Zeman, Andrea Evans, Billy Miller and all the other talented performers that died this year will be properly remembered by SAG as Jeanne Cooper, Stuart Damon, and John Aniston were. Apparently, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences doesn't give a damn. The country is utterly fucked. I thought it interesting that Susan had notes for her speech, but didn't look at them once and went off book. She went with her heart. What a classy person. I hope there is big success around the corner for Krista Allen. I love both Olivia Newton-John and Suzanne Somers...but I agree. If excluding them would have meant Jackie Zeman and Andrea Evans could have had a moment of footage in tribute, I'd have been for that.
  2. I'm glad to spot the back of Lauren Koslow's head, with Kate clutching a martini.
  3. Nice, sure...but I did not appreciate that he was singled out while other actors were shelved into the Memoriam. Exactly. The Memoriam was OK - but I think given the magnitude of performers who died, they could have done a tribute to several of them incorporating at least a moment of footage. The BAFTA and British Soap Awards do it and it's so effective and beautiful. No offence to the performer of the song, but had they used simple instrumental music, this could have been easily accomplished. Yes, Liza commented on Instagram that she had long been estranged from her parents when Helmut died. Susan was clearly emotional in her speech but given she's never discussed the estrangement, I thought it interesting that she specifically paid tribute to her son. I really liked how Susan pointed out the actors she'd worked with who were now elsewhere. Although I doubt she'd do it, I would love to see her guest on Y&R and share a scene with Peter Bergman. They have always seemed to have a warm friendship over the years. He has always seemed like a kind son in the little snippets you'd see of him over the years when La Lucci was interviewed. Just my two cents but I hazard to guess that Liza is the problem given Susan (& Helmut), Andreas, his family, remain close. As well, Liza's tone when Helmut died was cold. I just wonder what Brooke Kerr is thinking given she worked with Liza for years. Really disgusted by that. Jackie was part of the bedrock of that show. Overall, a really dull show. The tributes to Y&R and GH were incredibly bad. The lack of footage for actor nomination packages, no clip packages of any value for each show, the ceremony is a husk of itself.
  4. This is actually heinous. Krista Allen stepped in as a recast and was Emmy nominated in her first year. She flew in the part. This is a really hideous decision on the part of B&B and Brad Bell. Per the Deadline article, she's moving to Atlanta so I think she's past caring about daytime.
  5. SLC It's been a good season but I think after this episode, and what appears to be coming, that they're in need of a few cast changes. Little Girl is trying to stir up problems wherever she can because she has nothing going on. Monica is not someone I can get behind. She feels very dishonest. She's now posted on her socials that her mother had nothing to do with her family not seeing her in Bermuda. I feel like she went for the pity instantly to try and soften the cast up for what was to come with Heather. Monica somewhat revels in her 'honesty' about what a terrible person she is. Affair, criminal arrest, debts, lawsuits. She is not someone I would want to be around. BH This is a very good season with a few false notes. Dorit's time is up. She brings nothing to the show and her attempts at conflict fall flat. Crystal was very effective at shutting her down at the Sutton event by basically yawning. Annemarie is insufferable. Please get her off the screen. Her comments about Sutton's esophagus problem being "medically not true" is actually ridiculous. A narrowing esophagus is a common problem. Many people struggle with swallowing or have an issue called achalasia. Also, her husband must be a real prize to say she's straight 8.5s. Like vile Kyle, she laughs at her own jokes. She is such a flop and clearly brought on to prop Kyle. Crystal is dull and I don't see any storyline for her aside from arguing with Annemarie. Erika continues to have a great season. She's way, way more likeable than she has been the last few years. Sutton is a chaotic mess but I like her. She isn't being pushed around by anyone. Garcelle is fabulous. Kyle tried to divide her and Sutton about the ring comment, but Garcelle owned it. I love her family scenes too. The situation with Kye's friend is obviously a tragedy. However, I struggle to muster up sympathy for her because she had none for LVP when her own brother committed suicide and openly told them she was in trouble and needed space and peace. No, back then Kyle and her coven attacked LVP relentlessly. Now Kyle has an idea of what hell it feels like. She remains transparent with respect to her sisters...they will never be close or trust her.
  6. Y&R Jess Walton as Jill: 1989 when Philip dies and it's just Jill and Katherine in the hospital room and she looks at Katherine, with this look of sheer horror on her face, and says "It's your fault, it's always been your fault. First the father and now the son!" Jess captured 16 years of history in that scene and she was indisputably Jill from then on. DAYS Lauren Koslow as Kate: 1996 first day in the role...but there is another date, when Kate framed Sami for Franco's murder, in 1998, where the culmination of Sami vs Kate started to reach its fever pitch and nobody could dispute Lauren made the role her own.
  7. Agree - Peter Porte is a good, talented, actor and was wasted in the role and by the writing. Ron is a problem and his propping of useless Leo is an issue.
  8. So not a single appearance for Lauren Koslow in November since she's been dropped to recurring? That is so disappointing.
  9. Shannon has been such an entitled pig about her DUI that I can’t have much sympathy for her. Back up the Brinks truck to Alexis and let’s get this season rolling.
  10. Linda was a workhorse and stayed at Attitudes for a long time - that exposure was so good for her career. Her cohost in that clip, Jerry, went on to be a very well liked and respected correspondent for Extra - he always got a warm welcome from anyone he met on the red carpet.
  11. Make that money Lu and Sonja!
  12. Harmless, cute, light as a feather TV movie. I'm glad they all got to do it and qualify for their SAG/AFTRA health insurance. My bet is the part Morgan played was originally written for Dame Joan. The mention of 5 husbands and cooking English Christmas cake, and the dialog in general, had Joan written all over it. Loni's part also sounded like Morgan when they mentioned she studied rare diseases (Morgan does this IRL). The irony is for my griping that Loni did not have the soap pedigree, she was actually the best part of it and that's because she's a sitcom actress. She knew how to liven up the lines. She looked and sounded very much like she did in the 90s. By far the most vibrant and she's 78. While Donna looks good, she's very stiff and her voice, like Linda Gray's has aged considerably. Both Donna and Linda seemed a bit frail. Nicollette looked really hard. Morgan is certainly zaftig but she still sounds like herself and has her swagger. I wonder how this might have been different if produced by Hallmark - their movies tend to have a sweeter tone.
  13. Agreed on all counts. Morgan is bizarre. It took about 2 minutes of exposure for me to dislike new girl. Kyle is such a hypocrite - always has been - but I'm glad Sutton came ready to play. I thought the eating disorder comment from Kyle was really ugly. Scratch beneath the surface with that one and she's a horrible person.
  14. I always wondered if Aaron knew Bill or was a fan of his. That's nice to know.
  15. I’m no wig expert but I think Donna’s is a human hair lace front while Morgan’s is not - more like shake and go.
  16. I recall Jeanne referring to her as "Maria Arena"...she left off the Bell.
  17. RHOBH Kathy Hilton couldn't help herself and made some definitive statements about Kyle and Mauricio's breakup: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12796997/Kathy-Hilton-breaks-silence-Kyle-Richards-split-Mauricio-Umansky-saying-sister-strong-hinting-separation-serious.html
  18. I really do not enjoy this Nneka at all. She is very impressed with herself and I see no reason for her to be. Agreed on all counts. I did not enjoy last night's episode at all and think this season of Potomac is a dud. Given the woman who made allegations against Chris Bassett has now admitted she made all of it up and is admitting that she's 100% in the wrong it's time to take a look at who instigated and promoted that lie. Robyn and Gizelle both fanned those flames on their podcast. Mia is a dud. Everything Wendy said about her appears to be true. The sole redeeming feature of the season is Karen. She is still hilarious.
  19. I have always thought the reason why I consider Bill Bell's Y&R and B&B to be a 'cut above' the rest comes down to a single word: control. Bill had a singular vision and executed that singular vision for 25 years at Y&R. After 1998 through to his death in 2005, he still exerted an amount of control that no other soap opera writer/producer did at both Y&R and B&B.
  20. That is exactly the problem. Morgan apparently had a health issue from exposure to mold and in her own words, she "ballooned" and she's struggled to take that weight off. Fillers are so challenging to balance against symmetry and weight gain throws it all off. Morgan is a nice, well liked person and I wish she hadn't had to deal with this. I also dislike the wig she's wearing there - I think she recently cut her hair for a role, but she would look better with a more voluminous wig like the one Donna is wearing that would frame her face and give some balance.
  21. Susan Sullivan would have been wonderful. She recently had surgery for lung cancer (she never smoked). Joan Van Ark might look like a burn victim but she has a sense of humour about herself. I enjoyed her scenes in the Dallas reboot. I loved that Morgan pointed out that Loni wasn't like the rest of them. She knows what's up. Nicollette should loosen up. Knots Landing was a primetime soap - it just happened to be better made than the rest of them and lacked some of the melodramatic production flourishes.
  22. Yes, this really makes me sad. Sad for Lauren, sad for those who love to watch her, and sad for the show. There is certainly every possibility that she can be recurring like Judi Evans is and have good scenes to play. DAYS has done recurring better than a lot of shows. What I do not want to see is an unceremonious exit for Kate and LK. That is not how a character like Kate Roberts goes out. That is not how an actress like LK goes out. She has been a 27 year veteran of the show for an uninterrupted run. No one on the cast could claim that anymore.
  23. I didn't see this elsewhere, but I am really sad to hear this. She has been a favourite of mine for decades and always made whatever nonsensical writing they threw at her work.
  24. That press release was about as laudatory as I've ever witnessed. Whew.
  25. It seems that after the GEB tried, and failed, to take down Karen, that Wendy is the only option they have left. I hope she doesn't go down without a fight. Robyn deserves all the misery headed her way. This Nneka seems like a terrible person, so I won't be surprised at anything she pulls. Ashley should be ashamed of herself. She has no scruples or morals or ethics.
