DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread
I've enjoyed much of what I've seen for Doug's death and Christmastime. I also semi-enjoyed the Titan storyline, though I don't love John Paul Lavoisier's choice to play Philip like he's Jim Carrey in Liar, Liar. He has a lot of tics and flails about...no child of Kate Roberts and Victor Kiriakis would do that...he has decent chemistry with Lauren Koslow but that's because of her, she could have chemistry with a potato. I think they clumsily wrote out Louise Sorel...it's like they didn't contract her long enough, she needed a couple of more episodes for it to make sense. The Leo stuff is nauseous. The Brady/Kristen stuff is not compelling to me at all. I agree that Kristen is played out. However, whenever they address Drake's passing, I do hope Eileen Davidson will return as Kristen and Stacy can play Susan for the memorial. It must have been excruciating writing around Drake's illness. Deidre looks so sad playing those scenes. I did enjoy the mention of Sami being jealous about Marlena switching calls to speak to Carrie. Nice touch. Still really enjoy Jackee's role on the show, and it appears she has hit the Ozempic because she's looking great and way healthier. The present Paulina gave Abe was a nice nod to Bill Bell, Harding Lemay, and Agnes Nixon. Very meta for one of the books to be about DAYS...

B&B: December 2024 Discussion Thread
A few thoughts as I dip into B&B this Christmastime... 1. Does anyone else find Hope (both the character and the actress) intolerable? 2. The stalking of Elektra is incredibly cheesy and dumb. I almost think Brad knows this is a total dud, which is why he's rushing this crap on (and hopefully off) screen. 3. Brooke needs a new man. This Ridge/Taylor triangle feels like the grossest microwaved leftovers and without any chemistry given KKL is the only original of the triangle left and Budig is implausible casting as Taylor. 4. Is Deacon now the B&B equivalent of Y&R's Gina? Hosting people at his restaurant?

AI Quantifies the Greatest Soap of All Time
This just proves that AI is bullsh*t.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
That whole exchange with Camille was wild and Dorit owned it so totally and unapologetically - I have never seen Camille so lost for words. She totally had the wind knocked out of her. Dorit’s whole aura was as “Does anyone else want some?!” and not one of them did.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I think it's the bad cold (I had a rough one two weeks ago) because I am loving BH this season. I can't get enough of Dorit and how she isn't letting her foot off the gas when it comes to exposing Kyle and all her manipulative bullsh*t. Yes, something is going around - I was sick as a dog with a nasty cold for 2 weeks. BH is excellent this season. SLC is also excellent. RHOP is also having a great season. As did OC. This is the year where a lot of franchises had a great comeback.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
In the statement I read he said that while they respected the jury's decision, they were reserving her right to appeal. I also read the prosecutors were seeking 60 days in jail and then Karen chose to go to trial. I'm surprised she couldn't get it together and plead guilty and cut a deal for 30 days or less. It's just plain foolishness or a lawyer who pumped her tires and gave her advice that fed into her ego.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I think she was either poorly advised or ignored good advice. Those videos are plain and obvious that she was totally wasted. There was no way she was going to win in Court. If a picture speaks a thousand words, a video screams a million words. She definitely should have cut a deal and plead guilty. Apparently the jury took a long time and was deadlocked and had to seek direction from the judge. Karen needs to accept this and be contrite.

Murder, She Wrote
It's so typically Hollywood: mine old IP, who needs original ideas? This will not be good for Jamie Lee Curtis, who I like and enjoy in basically everything she does. This is not good casting and this remake is ill advised. The part is Dame Angela's - her fingerprints are all over Jessica Fletcher's DNA. Cabot Cove will never be recreated.

ALL: Extremely long-held secrets that still haven’t been revealed to other characters?
One of the best secrets never revealed. John loved Ashley so purely and totally that it’s hard to know whether it would have even mattered to him that His Beauty wasn’t biologically related to him.

DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread
That was the part that I thought looked inappropriate for the funeral. The top of the dress was fine, if a bit sexy, but it was how short it was that was like...wowza. Marie should have made a comment about it, being an ex-nun. Stephen Schnetzer was terrific. As he always is. It's hard to believe he's 76. He looks much younger. When they all sang 'Always' that was incredibly moving and beautifully done. But then... Leo is truly an albatross and the show is weaker for him being on the canvas. It's like RC sees the character as his wish fulfillment and he's living his fantasies through him...so great is his obsession and shoehorning the character into every single scene imaginable. I was shocked when he appeared with Stephen Schnetzer. That never should have happened.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
For the comment that Britani acts like she's living out her soap opera fantasies, like she's living like she's in a 90s episode of DAYS. I think she resembles/dresses like Krista Allen from that period.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Bronwyn lost me a while ago but this episode sealed it. She was getting along with Britani and then moments later threw her under the bus and blew everything up. She will end this season with exactly 0 allies. She is playing this show like it's a game of Survivor. Britani amuses me and I think you're so on point about her living out her 90s DAYS fantasies. It helps she looks like Krista Allen. On the Watch What Crappens podcast, whenever they mention Meili, they do the Charlie Brown 'adults talking' sound...like she really isn't there.

DAYS: RIP Wayne Northrop
77 is very young these days. To be diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's is such a tragedy. The Motion Picture and Television Hospital is a wonderful place and I know he would have been well cared for in his final years. God bless him and Lynn, whose in my thoughts. May his memory be a blessing.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
To clarify the difference between Shannon's situation and Karen's situation: When filming started on OC, Shannon's case was over and she had already accepted her plea deal. The case was closed. She could take accountability because there was no longer an active case against her. Karen is not in the same position, either during filming and presently today. Her case is not closed. She faces trial in December. Her lawyer will have advised her, very strictly, to not admit anything, especially on camera, because it can all be used against her at trial. Karen is simply following legal advice and she would be an absolute idiot to do otherwise.

Very sad. 37 is way too young to go and especially by his own hand. I hope he's found peace.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Totally agree - what a premiere. Firing on all cylinders. When I saw Dorit light up that cigarette while traversing the canyon all I could think was We. Are. So. Back.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I agree - if it’s Dorit that does it, Godspeed to that.

ARTICLE: ‘The Price is Right’ & ‘The Young and the Restless’ Average More Than 5 Million Daily Viewers in Delayed Ratings
You're absolutely right. I think it's now a given that networks are looking at all dayparts and seeing where the bang for the buck is and daytime soaps offer a lot. Congrats to TPIR, Y&R, and B&B. None of those numbers are anything to sneeze at - they outperform a lot of primetime and virtually all of the 'hot' cable shows.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
RHOP If what she's claiming is true, then Mia has defeated the opioid epidemic and she must be immediately appointed Health and Human Services Secretary alongside RFK Jr. by the President-Elect. I believe she is so clearly exaggerating. Perhaps she didn't like how she felt on them, and stopped taking them after liking chiropractic. But to say she was addicted, had an overdose, and was magically able to get off the most addictive drugs on the planet without using rehab or methadone (or a like medication) is untrue and a total disservice to those who have been addicted to these medications. Karen clearly has a lot going on that we aren't seeing. I really wish she could be more open, but I realize with an open case that she cannot. Ashley and Wendy should both be canned. They have no storylines and I don't care about their awful mothers. Stacey and TJ. Whew lordy. She'll be back next year but I can't see how this relationship evolves. Jassi should be careful about insulting the short guys her friends are dating given her NFL stud has clearly been cheating on her...or she was the sidepiece who got upgraded...

ALL: Bad Moves by Well Regarded Soap Writers/EPs
And yet I don’t think Ashley’s paternity damaged either Ashley or John Abbott. John loved her, he raised her, she was his “beauty” and Ashley adored her father.

Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
They have looked incredible. I have dipped back into the show to see these episode and Jess Walton's return. She has been typically excellent. Though I don't love the weakening of Jill, it is the most sensible route to give motivation for her to sell Chancellor to Victor. The Sharon story has interested me, though I wish Sharon Case didn't do all the Botox and fillers to her face - she literally cannot emote and her face is unnaturally rounded out. I noticed the lighting changes right away at Society - that set was overly brightly lit in the past. The Newman ranch set is beautiful. Proof that the show can deliver an attractive program and that they've been incredibly lazy and poorly lead for years.

I never liked Teddi. I knew she was rotten to the core. I am validated by this news. What a terrible person. She should not be on TV ever again.
