  1. LOL. I think I saw it mentioned about Nina slapping Stafford’s Phyllis but before that pretty sure Sharon and Phyllis had a couple go arounds as well in 2007 I think and then again later under MAB they had a catfight involving a chocolate fountain at the Chancellor Estate.
  2. LMAO @YRfan23 I see Sheila didn’t lose a shoe, so I guess that’s “original” in Thudley’s head? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  3. Leanna Love being in town as a busybody for the 50th Anniversary has been a nightlight of the week so far. Nina tearing Abby down after Amanda ripped her a new one last week was delightful to watch. And yes I agree Jill should have been in line next instead of reminding Nina of her history. The Diane & Phyllis scenes were great, it’s been a long time coming for Phyllis. Phyllis is completely unhinged and Stafford isn’t giggling for once. Why the heck is this show not using a handsome hunk like Connor Floyd as Chance at all?
  4. I thought it was a fun little special going into it with little expectation, the classic rarely seen clips and classic behind the scenes clips and pictures (the 1995 Jill and Katherine courthouse fight!!) were definitely a treat. The Thudley and Lauralee scenes were surprisingly poignant as was EB’s thank you at the end. I definitely agree it definitely felt rushed and fast paced, I wish it had been a two hour special done something more in the vain of CBS Sunday Morning or something. BTW what has happened to Penn Badgley?!
  5. Yep! The first time was after giving up Eric III to Deacon after holding him over the cliff, the second time of course involved who else but Dollar Bill again lol. What’s funnier is that Sheila is wearing the same or a very similar jacket in the ad as Caroline did in her fall 🤣🤣🤣
  6. LOL. Just another Thudley Way to fall!!! Am I missing any?
  7. Not the first time Sheila’s gone off a balcony either as she jumped off one in her wedding dress in 1997….. I’m wondering @YRfan23 if Thudley will give us that scenes of Sheila’s body laying on the ground and missing a show 🤣
  8. Was about to share the CBS Sunday Morning video as well but the full video is already posted in the Old Articles section I just noticed. Well, happy 50th anniversary Y&R!!!
  9. LOL want did Hyde even do before and after Passions anyways? At least his screen partners Kim Johnston-Ulrich and Dana Sparks (who was Chelsea’s therapist last year) had lengthy acting careers before (although Sparks was dreadful on Falcon Crest).
  10. It probably did as I only did a quick scan of 7 pages quickly but now that I’ve reread it I understand and respect your point in regards to all of GL’s 2003-09 openings as I did misunderstand your point. I do find this opening more comparable to ATWT’s final generic openings it’s last 8 years though as well as the overall state of the show. Yet it in a way it perfectly symbolized something classy and sophisticated Y&R was supposed to be. Of the earlier 1988-93 had unique animations, and we all saw Brad, Ryan, Cole, and Malcolm shirtless in the opening credits as time went on, but the simple opening with cast in formal wear really spoke for itself. I do wish the show had kept up with the cast drawings though.
  11. I was never a fan of the red 1999 opening & music and they never updated it at all except to edit out the cast who left. So the 2003 opening was a relief to me as we had the classic score back, and it felt so classy and innovative initially, problem was they never updated those intros as time passed. How many years did we have to see Graz running on the beach lol? The 2012 opening was just something enhanced & refreshed, and Justin Hartley’s personalized version the only thing I remember clearly aside from Jeanne’s last opening of Katherine tossing cash in the air. The 2017 open has been okay but nothing special. I just saying the other day how nice it was to see MM look fierce again in the opening credits. And no contrary to a few other posters about saying this was worse that GL and ATWT, no I don’t think this is worse at all. Cheap and tacky for sure, but GL, ATWT, OLTL, and GH all have had worse openings. The saving grace is keeping classic Nadia’s Theme.
  12. Now this is EMBARRASSING. Back in the day sure every soap experienced the occasional end credits goof every now and then….but to have such an egregious error in the opening credits and just let it hit the airwaves without noticing…yeeesh. I’d say somebody needs to be fired for not doing the one job they had to, however my money is on Josh Griffith personally making these credits himself 🤣😂
  13. Thanks for sharing that, and I am glad to see Esser was interviewed as well. I had no idea Esser was still Chicago based to this day; between that having witnessed so many shenanigans between production teams (including Latham firing her before MAB & Co rehired her) I figured Esser didn’t want the HW role at all, even if she’s probably been best for the job.
  14. That would’ve been fun!!! I was actually wondering what your thoughts were (sorry if I scrolled past them though funny I found this thread just as I had watched today’s opening lol). I don’t mind the font, it would have been better if it was in gold than the red for the 50th. The city skyline is completely out of place. As far as Y&R goes it reminded me of the Newman Enterprises logo font. The bad thing is this still looks better 29 years later, Nikki head spin and all:
  15. I somehow missed this thread and saw the opening today. Wow so underwhelming and cheap. The could have easily recreated the 1988-99 opening on a white background and I wouldn’t have minded it at all.
  16. I’m not sure how reliable this spoiler is or if it is a prediction of some sore but I did read the following: Now that everything else has failed to get rid of Diane and she’s engaged to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) Phyllis’ hate and thirst for revenge is in overdrive. Jeremy was going to have her steal something and frame Diane for theft, but Diane caught her in the Abbott mansion and stopped her. He came up with another plot that they could pull at the Bicentennial Ball, but they’ll have to disguise themselves to crash the party. That could be tricky considering it’s not full masquerade, it’s just masks over the eyes and no costumes. Then Phyllis gets a brilliant idea; fake her own death the same way she faked hers, and frame her for her own murder-all Jeremy has to do is supply a corpse. Phyllis thinks it’s time to fight fire with fire, and she has nothing left to lose-she blames Diane, of course, for turning her children against her when it’s really her hatred. Of course it’s Diane’s fault that Phyllis got fired by both Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) because Diane’s the psycho, never Phyllis. They will stage a funeral and everything, with Phyllis supposedly dying in a fiery crash into a ravine, and her ID will be found outside the car. There will be bones but they will be so burnt no DNA is salvageable-Jeremy’s impressed, this might actually work; Phyllis changes her will for her life insurance payout. She’s lost her relationship with her kids, so it will go to Jeremy’s shell corporation. There’s the question of where Phyllis will go, and Jeremy has that all figured out. Keemo Volien Abbott’s (Phillp Moon) house is still vacant, Diane having purchased it as a ruse but never rented or resold. The big question here is one of trust – can Phyllis really trust this man who is being so kind and hates Diane as much as she? Will he follow through on their contract, or will Phyllis be out of luck and maybe out of time? It doesn’t matter anymore – he’s got to be more trustworthy than Diane, and Phyllis is in such a state of desperation she’s really the psycho here. She’s grasping at straws and Jeremy has one, and he keeps convincing her to team up-maybe she will.
  17. I never found Melanie bad she was goofy and funny, liked her with Phillip and being annoying to Vivian but unfortunately I feel like once it was established she was Daniel’s daughter she immediately became completely irrelevant, especially after the Parker paternity scandal. Melanie and Chad 1.0 were so underwhelming especially since I was rooting for Will and Chad 1.0 to hookup 😏. I don’t even remember how she left exactly except for testifying in favor of Nick getting released.
  18. Per Jason 47’s Days page…. Ashley Benson (Abigail Deveraux) 11/12/04-5/2/07 Mandy Musgrave (Chelsea Benson) 11/12/04-4/26/05 Rachel Melvin (Chelsea Benson) 5/12/05-6/11/09 Shayna Rose (Stephanie Johnson) 7/4/06-1/18/07 Shelley Hennig (Stephanie Johnson) 4/20/07-4/6/11 (recurring 2/15/17-2/16/17) Didn’t remember Chelsea starting the same day as Benson’s Abby at all but I think I do now because Jack had just “died” again (seriously it became a running gag during JER 2.0 that Jack was always dying lol) I didn’t like Hennig as Stephanie at all in the beginning but by the time she left she was one of my favorite characters. Likewise I hated Kate Mansi’s Abby in the beginning because she was so completely immature to Benson’s usually grounded Abby.
  19. Oh it was so nice to see MM in the opening credits again and sadly Amanda being a furious scorned woman is the most interesting thing we’ve seen of this character in quite some time. Audra has been a schemer in the classic sense but her motivations are still quite murky. She had a history with Noah, was secret lovers with Tucker, dallied with Chance briefly but has been purely interested in Nate since day one. No doubt she has an ulterior motive to snag Nate for herself by doing something to take one stone to knock out the two birds of Elena and Victoria.
  20. Nah in the case of Sheffer I have to believe that’s all on Sheffer. Like a daytime version of Ryan Murphy there was always a honeymoon period followed by an epic implosion with permanent irreparable damage done. After spending most of fall 2007 at #8 in the ratings even behind GL Corday was actually right for his annual Plan to Save Days that time around whereas Sheffer was left to rot on his own devices at ATWT and Y&R for years. Although Corday had a history of trying to act like Days’ white knight during the 2000’s so much it was laughable. That said I didn’t mind that 2006 set of Max, Abby, Nick, the red haired Stephanie, and the bratty but still likeable/redeemable Chelsea at all compared to what happened to all of those characters in that disastrous Touch the Skies story the following year. I think I’ve said all about I how hated the show did Nick Fallon wrong in the past and hate how his killer is still on this show. @carolineg@Antoyne I remember the first Chelsea but I don’t remember her even staying too long, maybe three of four months at the most. First Chelsea was introduced as Abby’s best friend at a time Bo, Hope, and Billie kept talking about Georgia. Then there was some huge silly plot contrivance about how Billie was best friends offscreen with Chelsea’s parents and when they died Billie became Chelsea’s legal guardian to which Chelsea resented. Flash cards much LOL. The only thing I vividly remember about the first Chelsea was her watching Patrick Lockhart take laps in a tiny above ground swimming pool and telling Abby she was going to make Patrick her man, even if she was underage.
  21. Yeah this plot twist is horribly bad and laughable. I predict the next twist Bill & Ridge will discover this Sheila is actually Sugar and the real Sheila is seen on some South American beach with toasting mojoitos with Finn’s dad Jack or something. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  22. I thought Sloane’s first year was pretty solid I myself enjoyed the Christy Carson caper, Felicia’s alcoholism story, Jake/Paulina, Ryan/Vicky/Grant, Sharlene’s return and Matthew/Donna. However Sloane’s second year went off the rails between Kyle Barkely’s murder and then the complete and abysmal destruction of Iris as well as shoving Morgan and Brett as the “perfect 90’s couple” down viewers throats.
  23. Today’s Y&R featured Jeremy and Phyllis talking about an evil master plan in the works, so I figure Phyllis faking death and getting it blamed on Diane.
  24. In a way yes and no. I think if Holden and Lily had stayed in more supportive roles they would have been fine long term. In a way the couple was usually self-destructive. Holden became such a boring leading man and his various affairs were usually boring and/offensive themselves. I guess that’s why I enjoyed Lily’s not-Holden relationships a lot more i.e. Damian, Dusty. Similarly, Tom and Margo came very close to self-destructiveness in the late 90’s with the amount of toxicity in their marriage from 1996-2000 thankfully the show took a step back from that for awhile, although their airtime was reduced.
  25. Yeah I think that picture is from early 2007 when Leanna came back to cover Carmen’s murder case and interviewed David Chow, reuniting with her exit GL co-star VI.
