IMO GL should have just kept Hold on to Love as their opening with updated visuals again. The Lifesavers opening was nice though. The 2003-05 opening was a disaster as others have stated LOL, the 2005 opening was okay but felt like a news theme with a very busy screen, while I have no comment on the Peapack opening. The worst IMO had to be the 2007 "hairy arms and hands" opening. Ugh. I could understand for the 70th anniversary special, but to last all year? Flushing toilets at ATWT LOL that was the last real opening the show I had. The music was alright. The 2002-07 open was very generic, at least the blue color was much easier on the eyes than that awful gold color I never understood why they stopped showing the globe in space until the 2009 opening, which really was just a title card. The 2007 opening was extremely pointless except for including old clips in the background.

LOL!!!! What I laughed at the most is the whole video scene ended on a classic 70’s Y&R musical cue LOL.

Ehh was a bit disappointed and underwhelmed by TEB’s anniversary episode today other than a couple Sheila clips I don’t even think this episode even highlighted her best clips. Plus having Gloria, Kevin, and Chloe there smirking and mugging, ugh. Should have been just been family dinner with just Michael, Scott, Fen, and Trey at an empty Society or some makeshift home dining room geez. That said Fen and Trey were cute, and Fen should have been gay back in 2012 from the get go. Making him instagay is so lazy but typical of Griffith’s dreck. Enjoyed the Mary Williams clip the most. Weird Brad wasn’t acknowledged at all.

Yeah. Scotty’s return was long overdue but just horribly miscast with the greasiest slob lol. That lame triangle between him, Sharon, and Abby was painful to watch.

Fen & Trey look adorable together!!! 🥰 ….Bur typical Josh Griffin this revelation came from nowhere and will undoubtedly not be brought up again save for in six months time when Lauren just casually mentions Fen and Trey are getting married and later what a wonderful wedding it was, all happening off screen of course. No Scott Grainger? Now I don’t want to see that greasy guy who played Scott a few years ago, but the show could have at least reached out to Blair Redford to appear for one ep.

So Thomas is staying with Paris (or the other way around.) Given what happened to Zoe, you’d think she see all the red flags but hey not in Thudley’s world lol.

Exactly why it was extra unnecessary melodrama lol IMO. Also a bit strange how fast John and Jill reconnected, reconciled, and married in 1982 after the initial John/Jill/Jack triangle of the 1980-81 occurred, a story which was never really brought up again even with Jack & Jill trapped in the cabin.

In retrospect I think Jill’s child in the 80’s should have been born alive as Billy and that alone would make Phillip III feel displaced …like Mike Horton before it and Lily Winters after it there would have been substantial questions and shock. I feel like like Jill getting pregnant again in 1993 was a complete redo of the story even though I remember a few pointing Victor might be Billy’s father 🤢 but the show never went there or acknowledged that timeline or events

Maybe I’m misremembering it but I thought it was also bizarre that when Jill told Phillip III she was marrying John he objected to it and asked to go to boarding school instead…? Either way I though it was a strange reaction from a child.

Initially it wasn’t received by well with fans as I clearly remember there was fears about Goutman and a AW takeover of the show online at the point especially since ATWT also was moved over to AW’s old filming studios. I think the backlash is why Cass and Lila didn’t stay permanently as was intended. Oh for sure Jake & Molly were great but in the end Jake and Vicky both were killed off violently on ATWT while Marley & Donna were portrayed as mean spirited and heartless when it came to abruptly yanking the twins away from adoptive mother Molly.

It was originally Michael and Phyllis as friends for many many years. Then there was the particular period when Nick & Phyllis were married they were always over at Michael & Lauren’s and the four became best friends. It was odd but it was something I found decent about the Latham era even though I disliked Nick & Phyllis together. But then Lauren and Phyllis stayed friends on the side for several years as well. I recall Lauren and GT Phyllis fell out after GT Phyllis and Michael had schemed to throw Victor’s case which led to Michael almost getting disbarred, but then Lauren asked for Phyllis help during Fenmore’s troubles after she and Jack split. I don’t even feel Phyllis has a friendship with Michael anymore as well. @Soaplovers I had known that was the case but the show took it to the extreme that Holden and Emily never interacted lol. @Darn I recall buried somewhere in the archives on this board during the 2020 quarantine we had an extensive topic about what you mentioned, definitely be worthwhile to talked about again. 🙂🙂

LOL well Galen Gering and Eric Martsolf have been Days stars for almost 15 years now after Passions was cancelled. 🤣🤣🤣 But I understand your point. ATWT took in a few AW stars for a couple years there with storylines that ended up displeasing both ATWT and AW fans. Marcy Walker was shoved down GL fans throats as Tangie. MAB’s Y&R misused, abused, and obliterated John Driscoll, Jeff Branson, Maura West, Debbi Morgan, Darnell Williams, and Jennifer Landon. Did I miss anyone? B&B threw around some Sunset Beach actors for a few years there as well as reuniting two former GL actors for a storyline that went went completely awry.

Something more recent I’ve noticed Lauren and Phyllis as friends on Y&R. I’m not sure when their friendship went awry but they hardly interact anymore and both are now apprehensive of each other for the most part. Holden and Emily on ATWT is another one that comes to mind. Also unfortunately Barbara lost her ties to Kim and Lisa following the spa storyline and just never fully recovered them. And yes there was there was strange disconnect on Days after John realized he wasn’t Roman, which is why I always thought the Tale of Two Romans plot was so pointlessly unnecessary in the long run of everything. And the strange connection between Nicole and Chloe has felt a bit lost over the years, although their unlikely friendship was strange to begin with but was fun because it occurred when both characters behaved at their worst lol. LOL. Sami and John were on decent terms until JER regressed her substantially and she absolutely hated John. Then during the Sheffer years she and John made up, she even named her son in his honor as he was presumed dead at that point. Then in 2011 under Poulter/Thomas she regressed again towards to John.

Thanks @will81 and @Paul Raven for the history as always! Yeah I was thinking 1981 going into 1982 always sounds like a mess. The idea of Andy and Jill as a couple sounds wrong lol even if it was Adair as Jill. The Paul/April/Barbara story reads as very, very bizarre. I’m not sure what the point of bringing back Sally & Chuckie was other than have it serve as a closure story for the 1973-82 era or at the least the end of Snapper and Chris.

Interesting…Danny’s earliest years mystify me. I’ve seen some sources mention he came on as early as 1980 but I had have zero clue what he was doing other than occasionally hanging out with Paul and Andy. I’m familiar with his 1983-84 involvement with Lauren, Traci, and Patty but then there is a gap concerning Danny, except his summertime charity concerts lol until 1988 or so when of course he gets involved with Cricket. I know it’s been said Bell adored Patty Weaver and she had been a leading lady at Days, but it’s unfortunate Gina never amounted to much either on Y&R

I so meant to post on this yesterday when I saw it. Thanks so much @Chris B for the cliff notes version. As others have already said, her stint was the last time I felt Y&R actually felt like Y&R overall and I’m not surprised it was micromanaged to death. Sure there was some dreck like the Charlie/Maddie soarsing, miscast Scott, and some storylines ending on a whimper but by summer it felt like it was finally coming together until they abruptly axed her. I had wished Alden had been Co-HW instead of consultant. Alas. I do wonder who reached out to her and why they bothered at all. I figured Brent Boyd would have been the natural successor to be HW of the show at some point. As for Mike and Carrie I’m glad she mentioned it. I did like parts of their story and felt Critchlow and Clark had chemistry. I was entertained by the crazy Ali McIntyre and her “Carrie Reed Barbie” doll. However, as with a lot the SSM there were some really dumb moments. Their magical flying bed had to be the worst, while literally riding off into the sunset on horseback to go the airport together was a silly end. Not mention Mike talked to Carrie about his marriage to Margo…which put Mike in his late 40’s as opposed to mid to late 30’s.

LMAO I watched the first 15 minutes of it last night out of pure curiosity and was taken aback how awful it was. Side note was I didn’t realize how old and how washed up Todrick has become lol. I remember he performed at a Pride event here in my neck of the wood years ago.

Yes to all of this! Annie’s descent and Dinah’s descent in 1997 were absolutely amazing to watch as two characters who I previously couldn’t stand suddenly became amazing to watch.

Yep lol. Same with Greg Vaughan if hasn’t been mentioned yet. Oddly the only actor I know who appeared on all of the last four major CBS soaps was Zack Conroy of all people lol. A minor role on ATWT (I think he was on ATWT’s little web reality acting show InTurn), James on GL, and of course Oliver on B&B/Y&R. I say odd because after he left B&B, he quit acting and is now a financier of all things.

I was thinking Marla had been on all four but wasn’t entirely sure about the GH role. As for B&B she briefly played Beth in ‘91 shortly before she returned that year as Dina on Y&R. I thought about the Tylo’s being on all four between the two of them lol. Michael was on GH, Y&R, and B&B, while of course Hunter was on Days and B&B. I don’t ever recall Hunter crossing over to Y&R although she made an appearance as herself in a Nanny episode when Fran got a role on Y&R lol.

Ya if there is one thing (or only thing lol) Y&R does well at all these days is the nostalgia factor with anniversary tribute episodes or anytime the show actual makes an effort to visit its history. Probably because going down memory lane is the only window to a time when the show was actually good.

Exactly! There’s some great content out there, unfortunately it seems to me as of late the content that is getting presented and hyped to be “mainstream” just isn’t watchable or likable. I had more fun watching Tom Selleck in In & Out and or the movie Adam & Steve back in the day as opposed to some dreck we’ve gotten lately.
