I know that Y&R and Days l were already mentioned, but two from ATWT came to mind: 1) Holden Snyder jumping out of the stable loft in front of Dusty and Lily. 2) Rosanna discovering one of her lost cousins was actually her half-sister and her decision to search for her. Of course Carly would then find pretty much be a leading lady for rest of the show’s final 15 years.

Given that Taylor gave Douglas his phone back I suppose I’m expecting Douglas to play the call in the middle of the wedding. It be a nice touch for Douglas to continue his trend of honesty between “Beth is Phoebe!” and “I saw Grandma kissing Santa Claus!”

SMH that’s absurd. Sad that a 5 year old with long hair triggered some grannies, I would hate to be that person’s children & grandchildren lol.

LOL. I liked their friendship/fling and appreciated the tension but as a couple? No. Not to mention Richard would be the death of Maggie.

That 1985 write-up: Last year, FALCON CREST finally came into its own, becoming much more than the soap that simply followed DALLAS. We are also happy to report that as of this writing, they are keeping up with last season's high standards -- even surpassing them. FALCON CREST has become a first class show. All around acting last year was superb with honorable mention going to Lorenzo Lamas (Lance), who grew with performances that combined vulnerability and humor. Jane Wyman (Angela) was never more acerbically witty; in fact, most of the cast seemed to get the notion that humor was necessary, and were allowed to poke fun at themselves every once in a while. We were particularly engrossed in the love story between Lance and Lorraine (Kate Vernon); Emma's (Margaret Ladd) great desire to fall in love; and the heat and longing that existed between Richard (David Selby) and Maggie (Susan Sullivan). Stay away from Nazis and treasure hunts, FALCON CREST -- keep the writing and acting at its present caliber and MIAMI VICE will never rest easy.

@slick jones I honestly thought you had tossed Y&R by the wayside long ago while I’m still grimacing trying to watch the last soap I’m even clinging onto 😅 Connor & Johnny are cute kids and can act but the dialogue given to them Is terrible/dreadful. . Sheesh that dialogue would be absolutely terrible even if had been given to Sharon & Nick. Faith and Moses being ridiculously aged from high school freshman to college freshman in a year span and shipped off just pure laziness when Faith & Moses could have experienced similar issues Nick & Sharon faced in high school, or even a retelling of the Kevin/Lily Internet story for Faith & Moses. But NOPE! The Winters family right now reminds me of Guiding Light treated the Bauer family for that show’s last 15 years. Remember how how 2-year old Leah Bauer was SOARSED to age 16 while older brother Jude Bauer remained age 5? I think the show would at least be wise to bring back Lucy on screen so it could tie up a lot of loose ends, let Sheila appear as part of Y&R’s 50th, and leave Phyllis responsible with dealing with a younger version of herself. But I predict Lucy would probably be sweet and innocent as Phyllis and Sheila marvel together that their granddaughter has resilience they never had. 🙃

The transition from MAB to JFP was messy as JFP did a clean sweep of non-working stuff. Both Graz & Landon were fired and written out together. Landon apparently had PTSD from the whole ordeal and didn’t act for a couple years. At least when Victoria slept with JT there was some shock and minor scandal a pushing 30 career woman had an affair with the young 20-something mail office worker lol. Lol she mentioned today they’re staying in their boarding school in Philadelphia for the the holiday. The rush to SOARS in the past has seriously had a detrimental effect and wasted an entire generation already, with Kyle, Summer barely hanging on. I do like your ideas @DramatistDreamer. Heather could easily come back into town after Daniel but get tied down by a lonely Adam when they remember what might have been.

Never been much a GH fan but I do recall at the time from just casually curious about it there was widespread mixed reaction. Likewise I curiously did tune into OLTL’s 40th anniversary after seeing almost universal praise and friends telling me to as well but the aftermath seemed to leave the entire band wagon left in righteous indignation for good. Yikes.

Oh for sure, CK always comes alive with Graz. The runaway story remains unforgettable. I remember that time back in 2011 when Daniel and Lily were paired back up they two still clicked. I think the Davetta Sherwood firing, Latham’s mismanagement, the actor and character who shall not be named, having to audition for your own role by accident, and well as ridiculous SOARsing has done a number on CKLily over the years. It be nice if she could go back home to “Daily” while JTBilly waffles between Victoria and Chelsea in her face. Indeed. Graz seemed busier with additional projects when he was actually on Y&R…remember when he was on American Horror Story and doing movies? I wonder if Y&R would be willing to bring back Heather by spring in spite of what’s going with DD. I’d say bring back Vail Bloom since she’s in a good spot now. Landon’s successful on Yellowstone at the moment while I don’t need to see ER ever again on Y&R.

On another website I had seen someone post a few TV schedules from that time period and had seen the show get listed which brought back a faint memory so I got around to looking it up. IIRC someone at WOST had brought this up as being the first “reality soap opera” at the time when the board was dissecting Mary-Ellis Bunim and Millee Taggert’s Starting Over, which was billed as a reality soap at the time. Oh definitely more of talk show/round table discussion for sure; probably the only soapy aspects to it is opening & logo, music, and having Hal Simms as the show’s announcer.

The Good: ATWT’s 30th, B&B’s 20th & 25th, AW’s 25th, Days’ 25th, GL’s 60th and 70th, Y&R’s 25th The Bad: GL’s 40th on TV primetime special, ATWT’s 40th, Days’s 50th The Ugly: Days’ 40th, Y&R’s 30th and 45th The So-So: Days’s 35th, ATWT’s 50th, Y&R’s 35th I always liked Y&R for the most part did actually long term “anniversary stories” mired in history for their 25th and 30th anniversaries, and to some extent their 20th and 40th as well.

Apologies if there was a thread already I looked all over but didn’t see one, but a couple videos from The Lives We Live, a WCBS/syndicated reality soap that aired 1980-81 have surfaced. I remember discussing about this in length wayyy back in the mid-00’s at the old WOST website, but digging up any information has been difficult. Neither Schemering nor Waggett mention this show at all in their books.

Ya I am glad Steffy did not get thrown under the bus either and hope that Taylor does not get thrown under the bus either. As for Thomas I wonder what’s next for him….collude with Sheila again? It’s hasn’t been revealed he has before same thing with him and Quinn spiking Brooke’s drink a couple years. Ya this show fails when it comes to stuff like that.

Let’s all be thankful that the actor who shall not named dictating stories has not darkened Y&R for almost exactly three years now. 😏 Lord knows what he had on someone at CBS or Sony to last so long.

Oh for sure. Probably one of my biggest complaints especially in the later seasons was complete lack of follow-up for a lot of stuff. For example just saw your TiananmenSquare interruption, despite the dramatic cliffhangers we saw for Season 8 weren’t even touched on in Season 9 aside from a sIngle line in the first episode that Pilar had visited Tommy & Kelly still recovering from their lake ordeal. Other than Robert Foxworth and Dana Sparks i felt the main cast overall did a good job, but as @j swiftwas saying sometimes the acting of guest stars was also horrendous. In the case of Chase I do want to sympathize with him but Foxworth was socold and stark it made Chase unlikeable at the same time.

After doing a second/third rewatch of Falconn Crest I just have to laugh/mourn over what FC could have been vs what it could have been. Mark Snow’s score for seasons 6-7’ was the definite highlight. Snow of course cemented his career with the X-Files. Yet every episode had to have Angela and David making callous pointless remarks. Falcon Crest sucks especially after Season 5 and the whole Pamela Lynch face lift thing. Who the heck cares about Morgan Fairchild, Erin Jones and her sister lol

My speculative guesses are we’ll see Billy ditch the Abbotts and Lily to bring Chelsea a Thanksgiving dinner while Devon and Abby canoodle again in the misery.

Is CBS airing any classic eps next week? Hopefully with we’ll get a semi-decent Thanksgiving episode this year after last year’s trashy fantasy garbage with Phyllis and Gloria 🤮

In a way it worked because Tom had easy chemistry with both Reeves and Peck, and both Tom and Cast were fierce as playing bitter, jealous rivals. But it definitely dragged on, and there was some unnecessary moments like Nina’s miscarriage, and strange plots like the the Jeri lady who was obsessed with Cole, the mysterious psychic, and missed opportunities like a Ryan/Jill one night stand to throw into the mix. The original story was great but by 1997 it was really grasping at straws and of course went in the direction of Tricia and Ashley.

LOL I had figured but saw it was making its way into a couple reliable/reasonable groups. It just had a hint of truth feel to it in regards to Walters and Floyd but Grossman just sounded out their, like someone put their delusion out there to make it reality. 😂

I didn’t know where else to post this but there is currently some unconfirmed posts/rumors running amok amongst Y&R Facebook groups that Susan Walters, Adam Grossman, and Conner Floyd all have been let go……Delusional social media fantasy or not? Major yikes if any of it’s true.

Another daytime legend gone. I know Aniston was on SFT for several years but was he on any other soaps before that? Always enjoyed Victor a lot on Days at lot as one of the town villains on the show and was glad he was still able to make occasional appearances even in this past year. May Aniston RIP he will be missed.

It’s funny on a rival board/group someone mentioned Morina & Griffin have totally lost control of BTS ongoings…this sounds like it confirms the rumor. This show is in a total flux at the moment…Nick & Sally wrapped up quickly, Chelsea hauled off again to the psych ward, Devon & Abby finally have an affair but it’s revealed in a day, Billy and Lily on the verge of breakup after two years, Chance and Abby at the crossroads, Tucker’s arrival, Diane’s story changing, Imani disappearance, Amanda recurring Audra/Noah/Allie now possibly halted altogether, it really begs the question of who or what is in charge over there. This all began after Diane’s return and Rey’s abrupt death.
