  1. Ugh. Hopefully Hyeon is getting healthy.
  2. Lol. Cheers to self-awareness.
  3. Oof. I didn’t even think about that. Tennis is such a small world.
  4. That is true, but I’ve seen Ben Rothenberg make huge mistakes (like posting incorrect winners before matches end with scores) and not own up to it, even when called out for it. I don’t have a lot of faith in journalists admitting errors or jumping the gun, so it’s refreshing to me when they do. Speaking of Rothenberg: And Zemek’s response:
  5. Fabio would go to a career-high #12 with a win, while Dušan would go to #19. This is why I appreciate Zemek:
  6. LOL Rafa avoids the bagel. I wouldn’t bet on it, but it also wouldn’t surprise me if Fabio lost this match from 6-4, 5-0, 40-0 up. OK, Lajovic-Fognini M1000 final it is. Stat:
  7. Wow. Fognini is up 6-4, 5-0 on Rafa. Perhaps Roger sensed an opportunity with a less-than-healthy Nadal playing clay this year.
  8. Nope indeed. What a career breakthrough tournament for Dušan. Holding down the fort for Serbia while Novak goes AWOL between Slams.
  9. Lajovic just won the first set from 1-5 down against Medvedev, including a break on a shank lob winner. Wow. Interesting. Two burgeoning stars from East Asia who’ve had major setbacks due to injuries. Never met on the main tour, but Chung won their two previous matches in challengers way back in 2013 and 2016.
  10. If he hasn’t been an extravagant spender or gambler or screwed over by his team (always a question), he certainly never has to work again with the career he’s had.
  11. I saw Berdych is dropping out of the top 100 for the first time since early 2004!!!
  12. Loved NYC this week. Even when they repeat themselves (drunken post-menopausal ladies dry-humping in the Berkshires), they are so funny and fun to watch. I never thought I’d say it, but I kind of love Porsha on ATL now. Her “Nooo. Not Claire’s. They closed” made me chuckle.
  13. And Rafa gets another player who can challenge him on clay: Fognini.
  14. I saw. I wonder if Novak should take a wild card into a smaller tournament to get some matches under his belt.
