Netflix: Stranger Things
Agreed on the multiple locations and therefore lack of character interactions, and I'm glad to read the final season will take place only in Hawkins. For all the buzz about the new characters in this season, I felt nothing super special about Eddie, and certainly nothing at all for the permanently stoned pizza guy. In fact, I would say the weak story arc was the four of them (Mike, Will, Jonathon) on their road trip.

DAYS: July 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
I'm a couple weeks behind on DAYS, but something that's looked off to me is the lighting outside. It started with Abe/Paulina's wedding and it's continued on with scenes of Leo, EJ, Clyde etc. where it's supposed to be daytime, but there are bright spots and extremely dark spots outdoors. And the sky in the background is certainly not of any hue of blue I'm used to unless there's a storm on the horizon. Like, what is up with this botched up lighting?

Melrose Place
I have nostalgia for it, but I'm certainly not holding out hope for any reboot of any type at this point. Just as Roseanne will always be my all-time favorite 90's sitcom, Melrose will always be my favorite 90's primetime drama. And yes, it's Season 1 through 4 for me, with the latter half of 4 being its descent. Anyhow, happy 30th anniversary! Strange how I remember watching the first episode 30 years ago even though I'm still 29.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I'm still rolling from that moment. LOL. Last night's show was delicious. I've been waiting for Jill Zarin to finally arrive, and she did not disappoint. I couldn't wait to hear the Dorinda vs. Jill tiff explained, and I always enjoy when they're open and frank about the show itself and how the show causes friction and drives them apart. LOL at Jill saying she didn't invite Bravo to Bobby's funeral, when everyone else said she did (to be fair: it was *outside* the funeral). LOL later at the dinner when Brandi calls out everyone on their thirstiness to be back on their respective shows. LOL at Eva's fart analogy of saying Jill has something burbling up, and she's gassy and she just needs to let it out. And then the Phaedra/Brandi crackup about Dorinda. Fun episode! Side Notes: But yeah, Dorinda reminds us every week why she was "put on pause." For some reason while watching last night, I was thinking: "Who would I want to go out drinking with?" NO to Dorinda (Mean Drunk) NO to Brandi (Messy Drunk) No to Taylor or Vicki (potentially mean, potentially miserable) YES to Tamra (she says she doesn't drink but she DRINKS) Yes to Eva (I think she'd be cool actually) Invites to Jill and Phaedra, because even though they don't drink I would enjoy the conversation. Anyhoo... finally caught up on this board. Sigh.... BUSY work week. Ready for that drink with Tamra. Oh YES! Good mid-season teaser. She by She Better Do It! C'mon girl, bring it home. We're rooting for ya lol.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Sounds good!! I'm down for it all. Awesome analogy, LOL. Diana is an epic fail. What a mess of an argument. Sutton may not always be able to articulate what it is she wants to say, but she was high above those two heifers trying to gaslight her.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
RHUGT: I echo the sentiments here. I went into this thinking Vicki & Tamra are going to remind us all why they're needing on the mothership. Tamra? Yes. Vicki? Nah, I'm good now. Besides being Debbie Downer on steroids, her overly prim, conservative reaction to anything sexual is old and tired (fitting, huh?). Plus, the whole anti-vax thing? Yeah, let this be your Housewives swansong. I'm still good with Tamra though. She's still a Housewives pro and plays the game well. Taylor and Eva are surprising breaths of fresh air. I'm digging their friendship. Eva definitely seems more at ease in this setting and gives great commentary. Too bad they can't plop onto another city franchise. Face work and badly done makeup... yeah, it can be harsh looking at Taylor, Brandi, and Vicki. At least Taylor's face has recovered from her years of drinking. This Phaedra is the Phaedra I know and love and... miss. I was side-eying her return to Housewivesland, but her comments, reactions, and her ability to make it nice with all the women of the group has been a welcome return. Jill. I love my thirsty Jill Zarin (LOL at Brandi calling Jill out on her thirst to rejoin NYC on WWHL with Jill right next to her. Jill was noticably irked by that). She's a little underwhelming in terms of a personality so far, but her side digs (watch out Dorinda) and talkative nature is always fun. Sounds like she'll get into the mix more later. Dorinda's reaction to Brandi's "national television" reminder to Jill while they played that game was classic Final Years of Dorinda on RHONY. Girl, you need to give up control of EVERY single aspect of every function during this "Girls Trip." On one hand, I would love her to be on the NYC OG cast, but she's gotta tone down the nastiness. Can't wait for Episode 4!

Is Rob Wilson going to play another role on Days?
LOL.. this is what happens when the headwriter has a raging hard-on for you. Congrats RSW on keeping your job.

B&B June 2022 Discussion Thread
Zende is basically a new character with Forrester family ties. There is nothing about this new version that reminds me of the Rome Flynn era of the role. Meanwhile last week, I was just amazed to see Paris' mother on a set that wasn't the left office of Forrester where she's always popping in just at the right time. LOL, this story has been told in such a vacuum, up until the wedding day.

Days summer preview
Ugh. I don't get the appeal of him (Brandon Barash) At. All. He came in as a sub to finish out the Stefan story because the other guy couldn't show up to work sober. He strikes up maybe a teeeeeny amount of chemistry with Camila Banus, and now we're stuck with him in the land of misfit characters that have no need to be on canvas.

Billboard Charts
That's pretty frickin' awesome. Behold, the power of popular television series. I'm definitely one that has been playing this over and over for the last 3 weeks and counting!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Good. They deserve higher numbers. The cast changeup has turned out well for them. I love that Drew is the show punching bag. And I don't know what it says about me, but Marlo always has me cracking up. Say what you will about her checkered past, but she's really livening up this season. And Sheree came back to play! Not to mention, we finally saw real, genuine tears from her after 14 years. BH: I didn't finish last night's episode, but the shifts in alliances or budding friendships/co-conspirators is quite interesting. Kyle/Dorit with Sutton/Garcelle, while Lips/Succubus were with Crystal/Diana (or is it Diane? Meh, who cares) makes the coven more bearable, especially the camp with Sutton/Garcelle. Sutton's continued cool demeanor is such a wonderful switch from last season; I love that she can't be bothered and that others (Kyle, Lips, Garcelle) already know of Crystal's not so stellar history with keeping friendships. Dubai: Did hubby and I pass judgment too soon? With less than 10 minutes left to go in the second episode, hubby was like, "I can't do this one," and I didn't object.

Feel the heat campaign from 1985 returning to CBS
Oh God that would be amazing, complete with the dramatic turns to the camera.

Married to Medicine
Thanks for the heads up! My husband will be excited. I don't watch it, but hubby keeps telling me I should. He *loves* him some Dr. Heavenly.

It was kinda ho-hum for me, too. The Naomi Campbell wannabe already has me rolling my eyes. But we'll give it a try...

Days of Our Lives: May 2022 Discussion Thread
Side note: My mom loves to recall the time she and her mom were watching a soap called Somerset in the 70's, and they went on vacation for 2 weeks right when a character was shot dead and fell behind a couch out of sight. They thought for sure they'd be so out of the loop with the storyline when they returned, but as it turned out, 2 weeks later and the people of Somerset still had yet to discover the body!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Definitely. My husband is a psychotherapist and he was eyerolling SO hard at that scene. It paints his profession in a bad light, especially in the black community where there's already a negative stigma. I need one of them (preferably someone from the inner coven, dare to dream) to ask Erika, "Exactly HOW are you exonerated?" I thought Sutton handled her apology well, and until it was brought up a second time in front of the whole group (not your best idea, Queen Garcelle), she explained her viewpoint to Dorit rather well (her previous trauma with home invasions and guns). Kyle can go eat a thousand dicks, starting with Erika's bumpy log. Look at Terri DeMarco's thirsty ass trying to get in some camera time. Next week looks rough as they target Sutton yet again and try to paint her as a racist.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Same. I love how production clowns Drew & Ralph at every chance. Makes me wonder what they're like behind the scenes, or if their delusions of grandeur are just too big to gloss over.

Does your soap have a "Red Swan", a s/l or phrase or character that makes you groan?
DAYS, back in '96.... Kate using the phrase "schemed and plotted" when referencing Sami's manipulative efforts to keep Carrie & Austin apart. I actually kind of loved it though, lol. Years after the fact, I'd still use that phrase with my sister and she'd instantly know what I was referring to.

Best/Worst Production Value Periods on Soaps
Yikes. Right around the time DAYS was gearing up for their 50th anniversary, with their returns of Steve and Bo, suddenly everything was lit with a greenish hue and it stayed that way at least through 2016. Nowadays whenever it's nighttime in Salem, everything is lit up with a harsh blue, like it's a very bright moonlight even indoors. I don't get it. At least get back to the moody dark shadows of the mid 90's (think: Aremid, etc.) to help cover up the cheapness of the sets. Speaking of Aremid, I definitely appreciated DAYS' production values in the 90's up to the mid-2000's, when sets were large, mostly lit properly, and sets of homes and establishments had multiple parts to them, instead of just one flat room that everyone goes in and out of like a highschool play.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I am so ready for Sheree to redeem herself for her mostly disastrous 1st return (See: Season 10 reunion), and she is BRINGING it. And to go up against that lil yapping puppydog known as Drew is delicious to watch. In the words of Melissa Gorga, "you messed with the wrong one!." Drew is SO extra and she's lucky she got second season by default since they lost two heavyhitters from last year. Re: Ralph gay rumors. Methinks the lady doth protest too much. That said, he can be on my team any day. This season is shaping up to be good so far!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
BH: Okay first of all, I did love the premiere episode of Beverly Hills. Love 'em or hate 'em, there's always something good happening. I actually don't think the Dorit robbery was a scam. It felt very raw to me, and she seemed genuinely disturbed to the point that she was obsessively worrying where PK's phone was and then tried to calm herself down while waiting for him to return. It humbled her (we'll see how long it lasts), and my golly is this the first time we've ever seen Dorit with ZERO glam on her face? Speaking of suspicious burglaries though, I thought it strange how Kyle said she couldn't imagine going through someone breaking into her home. Um, wasn't she robbed like 2 or 3 years ago? Or is she referring to being held at gunpoint? Something about Kyle's wordings made me side-eye her. Erotika continues to be a cesspool of suckage and blowing the wind out of anyone's sail that comes her way. Rinna's confessional look with the sleek long hair. That's a keeper. I'll give her that much. Meanwhile, I'm sorry, but you shouldn't include your daughter in your promotional shots for your makeup line. Jussayin'.... (or at least choose more flattering shots. Rinna was probably only looking at herself). Okay, so Kyle is going to play up the idea of Sutton only being into herself and not caring about anyone else's problems. First of all, a big F-U to thinking Sutton should give a damn about Erika. And secondly, it seemed like Kyle/Sutton were playing catch-up on their own lives, but Kyle was so heavily focused on Dorit that God forbid they talk about anything else. I see you Producer Kyle. Some things never change. Garcelle continues to be the Queen goddess of reason and smart remarks, taking the throne from LVP. Oh. Hi Crystal. Look forward to next week!

Days of Our Lives: May 2022 Discussion Thread
I've been under the weather and caught up on the last 3 weeks and one thing I can say is that the canvas is BLOATED and it's no wonder stories and plot points are dropped and picked up at awkward times, killing momentum or making weird gaps in time. Wouldn't it be cheaper to cut the cast by a 3rd and focus on giving more airtime to a smaller amount of people? Everything is so frenetic and all over the place. There's no character development. Ron C is burnt out.

Days of Our Lives: May 2022 Discussion Thread
He's such a waste of airtime. With the crazy cast size, whether they're on contract on heavily recurring, they desperately need to trim the fat and cut the dead wood. Jake and Ava would be the first to go IMO.
