Agreed on that aspect. I like Eric Martsolf, but having Brady appear older than Sami & Eric and also seeming to be the same age as Kristen (Stacy Haiduk's version at least) is jarring. Kristen used to babysit Brady as a 3-year-old. But it is what it is, and it's been that way for 13 years now, so :::shrug:::

Continuity Errors in Soaps
I mostly didn't watch the final 2 years of Guiding Light, but wasn't the Peapack era riddled with continuity errors, left and right? Certainly, the weather was the biggest factor. I think I tuned in for the episode when Olivia came out to Natalia where they were outside in the snow on a cloudy day, and in another outdoor scene across town there's zero snow on the ground and it's sunny.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
100% on everything Potomac related, and yes @NothinButAttitude I'll contend Candyass could stay one more season to get her just desserts. However, I've seen this scenario play out in the past with housewives on Beverly Hills who seem to weasel their way out of their comeuppance. I do love that everyone in her corner is calling her out on her childish, petty behavior, as well as questioning whether she learned anything from last year (and whether her "trauma" was really genuine). +1 on the Ashley/Karen friendship that has developed and Ashley's ability to jump in and out of arguments with nary a scratch. Her messiness is done in a clean manner. I didn't even connect the dots on the irony of Gizelle/Robyn not having their own bathroom after their shadiness towards Wendy at Gizelle's driveway event. Karen specifying she's married to Ray to a group of strangers.... the salad tossing, the tea-bagging, the tongue wagging... LOL. The gift that keeps on giving... Robyn is the poor man's Cynthia Bailey. I'd keep her around, but damn girl, step it up. Comparing her to a chihuahua is an insult to chihuahuas, lol. I prefer guinea pig.

Wow, that would've made total sense. No wonder it didn't happen. 😄

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
100% truth. Gosh, just those writeups at the end of the season finale shows the majority have nothing going on in their lives. ITA that a friend of Garcelle's needs to be added to the cast next year. If Crystal is to stay, I see her cozying up to Producer Kyle, a la Terri DeMarco. The kiki between Kyle/Rinna/Dorit/Erika sadly seemed like the "core four" of the show as it now stands, but it also showed just how vapid and hollow this foursome really is. A shake-up and some familiar faces returning are definitely needed for next season. But no, Teri, you are not welcome back.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Looks juicy With the LVP / Garcelle love, my true wish for next season's cast would be: Garcelle, Sutton, Lisa Vanderpump (return!), Camille (return!), Kyle, and Lisa Rinna. Plus one or two other peeps (Crystal? Kathy full-time?) but it's key that they lose both Erika and Dorit unless Dorit and Kyle have truly had a falling out. Why? Because I'd love to see a gang-up of Garcelle/Sutton/LVP/Camille vs. Kyle/Rinna. With only two from the Coven left, they'd have a hard time controlling the narrative and coming out looking rosy (besides, we know we'll never get rid of producer Kyle until the show itself ends). I would particularly love to see all 4 of the fabulous women go HARD on Rinna. And a special guest star pop-up from Denise f**king Richards to top it off. Sigh... dare to dream.

Word. Who's the real hood rat here? What a trash couple. +1 on Mia not working at all.

Idea: devote one whole episode to Katie hysterically crying over Eric’s limp penis so Heather Tom has this year’s Emmy reel, and put Katie on the backburner for the rest of the year.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Ooh honey! He's right up there with Lisa Wu's Ed Hartwell for me... ::fans self::: But I digress... Admittedly, I haven't been following the gossip around ATL too much, so I'm very surprised we're just NOW getting casting scoop! Wouldn't they normally be half-way done filming by now with a December release of the new season?

50 years of soaps: An All-Star Celebration (1994)
Same; I've got 2 moving boxes full of VHS tapes I always intend(ed) to convert, first to DVD but now just straight to digital. On my To-Do bucket list. It's mostly DAYS and GL, along with the Daytime Emmys and Soap Opera Awards.

Days of Our Lives: September 2021 Discussion Thread
Agreed. My first thought. MarDevil is a lazy drag performer now. I definitely preferred the distorted voice of '95 much better. And I think the colored contact lenses of '95 were better too because they looked like actual eyeballs, versus the current ones which look like CGI. I'll never understand why they brought back Ava Vitali. I mean, Tamara Braun isn't that good. It gives Tripp something to play off of, but again, was it really that important? He's got Steve and Kayla for that. Meanwhile, Jake is the perfect example of why you need to plan ahead. If something was sparking between the actors playing Stefan and Gabi, keep him on as Stefan. But to kill him off and bring him back as a lookalike twin with no meaningful reason to really be in Salem, you've failed. What a dud of a character.

Potomac: Oh yes, the GEB's were trying to poke the bear with the shady game. Sadly, Wendy doesn't seem to know how to play the Housewives game and she is just sulking and sucking all the energy out of the room driveway. Watching this past Sunday's episode gets me feeling we're due for a shakeup on Potomac because a lot of them genuinely do not like one another. Perhaps I'm wrong and things will work itself out as the season nears the end and we have the reunion. I need Ashley to come out of baby mode and get back in the game because I enjoy her presence in the group. She stays unbothered by Candaice who always makes the extra effort to diss her. Yawn. The Grande Dame in her vassination trip was indeed a trip! LOL Mia. Hmm. Jury is back. One and done in my book, unless something significant changes in this final stretch of episodes (reunion is about to tape already!).

Agreed. Cynthia was a needed calm in the storm of the ATL. I'll miss her. Her presence was appreciated and necessary. Too bad

I have the DAYS 1998 and 2010 CD's. I had wished in '98 they would've released more of the music cues used during the '93-'96 era. It started getting a lil hokey as early as late '97. For the Possession reboot story, I'd love it if they used their old cues from 1995 as a throwback (also, they were much better, even the one where you hear a sound like birds squawking at one point). DAYS would be wise to start each week with the possession story. The B team can play in the middle of the week. Soaps get their best numbers on Mondays anyhow.

Yes, that lil pow-wow did not sit right with me either. I liked that Garcelle got to be frank about what it's like trying to fit in in a white world, but the way they pat her on the back afterwards was so surface level patronizing. Sutton sat back and watched because you could tell she and Garcelle already had this discussion a long time ago because, you know, they're actual friends. Kathy is doing to Dorit what Kyle wishes she could do. #BobbyFischer First of all, I either forgot or just now realized both Vicki and Tamra are in this! Secondly, get Jill and Dorinda back on the RHONY mothership! Same with Vicki/Tamra. I know this is Peacock mandated, but I'd sooner worry about strengthening the original shows and not focus on the spinoffs.

Days of Our Lives: September 2021 Discussion Thread
There really is an A Team and B Team for storylines on this show. And they are definitely the B team, along with Ava/Rafe. Meanwhile, now would be the perfect time for NBC/Peacock to experiment with putting up classic DAYS eps on Peacock and see how many eyeballs would watch it. The episodes of choice of course would be the OG Possession, Dec. 1994 through July 1995.

"Wonder Years" reboot in the works
Thanks for the reminder! I'll be checking it out. The original is one of my all-time favorites shows.

Ya know, I actually thought the same thing when I watched the latest episode. It felt like an act. I love the bold colors actually. Kyle is such a Basic Betty.

ICAM. I love how Candiace is so bothered by Ashley for no good reason (except pure jealousy) and Ashley sets her straight without breaking a sweat. Ditto ICAM on the mutual respect and friendship of Ashley & The Grande Dame. I love it because they both got so down and dirty with one another but managed to behave like mature adults and bury the hatchet for the greater good (the show). Candiace and her crusty napkins will no doubt be her own worst enemy yet again while trying to paint herself as a victim. P.S. Please continue using that Lana del Rey meme. I chuckle every time. lol

DAYS: Something Wicked This Way Comes
Well it sounds like we'll be getting return visits from old faces, whether for good or for bad... which makes me think another Isabella-like demon goblin will be haunting us. Question is, which deceased individual(s) will it be? (Don't worry, the obsession over Daniel Jonas is thankfully over. Blocking this to remove it from the stratosphere, heehee)

DAYS: Something Wicked This Way Comes
Definitely. I loved the work she did when Marlena woke up in the hospital after showing up at Bo/Billie's reception naked and shooting a cop and almost shooting John. That episode right there should've been what she submitted for an Emmy (and what she shopped around to the soap industry as a "For Your Consideration" tape that caused some controversy).

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Glad to see Potomac and SLC pulling in healthy numbers. @Cat & @Taoboi and everyone, thanks for the awesome recaps. I'm swamped at work these days so I'm just dipping in to get caught up on the gossip. My excitement over SLC's Season 2 premiere reminded me of my same feelings when the second season of Beverly Hills began. I love these "characters" and what they bring. With Whitney, I know her premiere was soft, but she is full of win in my book because she comes off as dumb but is smart. That cake! Falling off the plate THREE times! LOL That was funny. I loved how she still presented the busted cake to the family with candles lit. I'm glad they're going to bring up the "cultness" of Mary's church. As much as I can giggle at her and her church folk all pumped up with the Holy Spirit on their non-aired podcast, at the same time I roll my eyes at the lies ridiculousness of it all. I'm still Team Heather, but I do see the cracks in the facade. I tried to navigate her viewpoint on WWHL when she says she stands by Jen Shah, warts and all. It was telling that she admitted she realized a long time ago that something about Jen's business wasn't 100% ethical, but I disagree with her standing by her friend's side -- a friend who knowingly, methodically, and purposely targeted individuals to scam them. No, you HAVE to speak up and state your thoughts. We don't need a Rinna 2.0. Fabulous Ice, lol, definitely won me over come reunion last year. Before that, I thought she was the weak link of the group. But having an alliance with Jenn, a friendship with Meredith that's on thin *ice*, plus the ongoing tension with Heather makes Lisa Barlow an integral part of the cast. Meredith is just a joy to watch. That slow, thoughtful way she speaks. Her family dynamic. Plus, watching her go from calm to angry is fascinating. She's one of those who remains grounded even when pissed off, but you just know one of these days she's going to POP off on someone (watch out Jen) Side Note: The winter wonderland porn is back! So smart to keep filming during the winter months. The views from Meredith's house and Jen's rental are GORGEOUS.

DAYS: Something Wicked This Way Comes
I was just thinking about this Possession 2.0 thing and thought of the original, and I 100% agree that the beginning months of the possession were the best part. The scary unknown of what was happening to Marlena. Once MarDevil spooked Celeste into getting her colored contact lenses so she could prance about Smith Island and her penthouse trying to seduce The Priest, it got hokey. Plus, there was that last battle between Marlena vs. Devil when she had to stay inside the church to be safe, but was lured outside by "Sami" (really a zombie Curtis Reed), which was also hokey. The exorcism itself of course had its great moments, but that middle part of the storyline in the spring could've been tightened up and Marlena could've been back to her old self by Memorial Day, 1995. However, I understand them wanting to drag it into the summer months for us kids to see And the only way this storyline will pack any punch [again] is if the possessed person is Marlena. Can someone else also fall under the devil's spell? Sure. Heck, Tony (or Andre, whoever) was in his fugue state at one point when the MarDevil got into his mind re: Kristen & John. +1 on a Return to Aremid: The Town of Secrets. But again, we can't have a Lady in White haunting a park bench. Spacious sets are key to making Aremid feel like a real murky New England town.
