  1. I highly doubt Tyler Perry fired Jamey. I've heard the dialogue on Tyler Perry shows (I still remember people on this board insisting The Haves and Have Nots was good). If anything he did his show and got out, or the pay over there just isn't that great.
  2. Daniel Cosgrove is a talented actor but the fact is any time he turns up a show is not far from the grave, lol. It's not his fault but it is what happens every time. There's no point in pretending otherwise.
  3. I always forget that it wasn't Marland that brought on Amanda and Lucille Wexler but the Dobsons. How much did they set up with Amanda being a Spaulding, etc? IIRC the Jennifer angle and Morgan were all Marland.
  4. Connor Paolo (Travis O'Connell, OLTL and Gossip Girl) and Jonathan Bennett (J.R., AMC) are playing(?)* gay again in the dreadful-looking slasher Fire Island for Showtime, which doesn't look nearly as fun as the underrated Hulu romcom of the same name and also regrettably features str8 couples on Fire Island. (* - we all know Bennett is gay, I just assume the jury was out on Connor Paolo)
  5. (I like the dead leaves opening.)
  6. I would argue losing Michael Malone not long ago was up there, but that's me.
  7. Vee replied to DRW50's topic in Primetime & Streaming
I'd never seen this Series 2 promo piece with Tennant, Piper and Lis. Thought @DRW50 might like it. Click and zoom in to enlarge: Meanwhile: Radio Times mentions this was cut from The Giggle:
  8. Oh my God, that is Sebastian Roche! Wow. Per silent film, I remember the rumors a few years back that people found F.W. Murnau's 4 Devils. Sadly didn't pan out.
  9. I always enjoyed the idea of GL calling back to Reverend Rutledge and the lamp/lighthouse/etc. near the end of the run. I just think the execution of it was very poor. If GL was ever rebooted it would be nice to find a way to tie all these little details together - maybe a location bit or someone's correspondence, or a character from Selby Flats or Five Points, etc.
  10. What a eulogy! Khan, any SB episode recommendations are welcome; I've never really dug into it vs. her '70s GL which I have enjoyed. I'll admit based on her deeply eccentric online interviews I often thought about crafting a young female writer character for GH based around some of her notoriously outsize reputation. But it felt appropriative (or inappropriate, I guess), as I was never a Dobson scholar.
  11. You'll have to tell us in a GH thread sometime what kind of character you think he should play. I do think it could be gold, though I'm not sure he'd be interested in returning to daytime this point.
  12. This recent loss enables me to dig back into my dive into the Dobson-era GL I began early in the pandemic. It is fascinating, labyrinthian stuff.
  13. So much of her persona has always seemed deeply eccentric. I find her and her husband's GL work very intricate and fascinating, but her strange backstory with her family even moreso. (And their equally florid, convoluted ATWT work also is wild - their touchstones, obsessions, recurring themes at both shows.) What a legend. RIP. I guess I should finally find a good episode of Santa Barbara to watch now. I've never known when or where to look.
  14. Oh never mind. Those sucked. I meant the B&W, slideshow-esque ones from the late '90s/early 2000s, which I could've sworn also had some yellow.
  15. I thought the yellow bumpers were classy. 😩
  16. So did Martha Marceau just fade offscreen in the mid-70s, still in town but unseen like Bill a few years later? What little I've seen of Teri Keane on the show is very impressive.
  17. Little Tate is like 15! How did he already catch a case?
  18. I don't see a point in them promoting many of the current stories or cast either, but that's because almost all of it sucks lol.
  19. We have longtime trolls whose posts are transparently crafted to give blanket contrarian opinions to whatever is being discussed in order to drive engagement. Guess who that reminds us of? Ignore and move on.
  20. I just don't see any point in spitballing about Jason. Steve will never agree to play Jason Q again and the show will never force him to. His looks have dramatically declined in the pandemic and his performance is as banal as it's been for many years. I'd simply kill him for good.
  21. I'll be frankly surprised if they go there again so soon. They could not end Jason/Sam fast enough after almost 20 years not long before he left, and Steve's Jason was quickly hitting up two new chicks in the same year shortly afterwards. This was very unusual for Jason. Something clearly happened with Steve and Kelly BTS. I do think the show focuses a lot on the hospital, frankly. It began moving back to the hospital and its staff as a central hub starting with the soft reset of the show in 2005, when they were in major crisis and brought back Kimberly McCullough (at Steve's suggestion!) and hired Jason Thompson for her. Everything followed from that, and it's only grown since. Today a lot of folks work at the hospital or around it on the show, and it's the mob elements of the show that frankly are out of place and feel extraneous and old-fashioned vs. the rest of the show - it's played out, and only still there through ossified loyalty to veteran actors like Burton and Maurice and their rapt fanbases.
