  1. Someone on this show must have really loved The Carpenters (who, by 1973, WERE one of the biggest musical acts in the business). Penny and Mike met at the ice cream shop, where "I Won't Last a Day Without You" was playing. In one of today's reruns, Mike was getting high on "pep pills" while "Top of the World" played. I don't quite think that's what Richard Carpenter and John Bettis had in mind when they wrote that song!!
  2. If they ever do an EDGE revival, maybe DEK could write it.
  3. Sometimes I wonder if David E. Kelley ever watched EON, because he was also terrific at writing courtroom drama.
  4. Not really. He was just one of those characters who vanished with no explanation.
  5. Thanks for clarifying. I wish more of their GL work was available.
  6. I had heard about Farrah being up for that role, but not Donna. I cannot see Donna as Julie Kotter at all!!
  7. He was also a soap writer, wasn't he?
  8. Plus, Ohrbach's provided the fashions for both shows.
  9. Here's an interesting article on RH from September 1977: http://archives.chicagotribune.com/1977/09/18/page/222/article/care-to-watch-someones-life-fall-apart
  10. Bond Gideon's real name is Donna Kathryn Hosack, by the way.
  11. David Elliott, who played The Doctors' Billy Allison from 1972-77, is now a published novelist: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-elliott-36438911
  12. Agreed. Even though those shows had their own problems, they are still heads and shoulders above anything that is on now!!
  13. Didn't Nancy Barrett have two OLTL roles? I think she played a dying patient in the mid 70s. This would have been her first soap role after being the second Nurse Cathy Ryker on The Doctors.
  14. I've said this before, but I am still jealous of Marcy Walker's hair from back then!!! She and Robin Wright definitely had two of the most gorgeous manes in daytime history!!!
  15. Great to see you back posting, saynotoursoap!
  16. How long did the Pollocks write for this show? What were the stories under their watch? I ask because they are the headwriters on the episodes of The Doctors that are rerunning on Retro TV right now.
  17. He just never seemed to fit in on OLTL, at least as Kevin Buchanan.
  18. Another real treat about these episodes is that we are seeing Julia Duffy in her first big role before she headed west and became a beloved sitcom actress. She definitely had the same pout and whine down cold a decade before they became trademarks of her Stephanie Vanderkellen character on Newhart!!!
  19. Was that Dorothy Lyman's first big role?
  20. I'm trying to think of how many cast members TD and DS had in common. The only ones I can think of right now are Nancy Barrett, Virginia Vestoff and James Storm.
  21. Supposedly, he had a thing for Susan Misner (Grace Davidson, OLTL) and she didn't reciprocate. He began a short-lived marriage with a different woman not too long afterwards. Other than that, I don't know.
  22. I went back and looked it up. According to the DS Movie Book by Kathryn Leigh Scott, VV was going to be in Night of Dark Shadows. The role was re-written as "Laura" and played by Diana Millay (who had played a different Laura on the soap).
