Falcon Crest
I know! Pre-Internet, they were still afraid of leaks. According to his memoirs, even the cast (save Bob himself) was in the dark about what was going to happen until just about tape time!!

Even though she only played drunk in one episode, Kerry Sherman (Amy Perkins on fellow NBC soap SB) played it perfectly. Amy was drowning her sorrows after having been dumped by her boyfriend. (15:45 mark): (4:40 mark): Getting back to AW, it's sad but so not surprising that the young crop of actors would have no idea who Linda Dano is. Not only that, she and Stephen Schnetzer as Felicia and Cass proved that a man and woman can be just friends.

I think she is on FB, though I am not connected with her. Plus, she didn't give up acting until a few years after this commercial aired.

I loathe it, too - and anything that is plot-driven rather than character-driven.

@DRW50, the actress sure looks and sounds like Carrington Garland. I just don't know for sure.

John Shearin, who originated the role of Roger Forbes in 1983, has passed on: http://www.reflector.com/News/2017/04/10/Longtime-director-of-ECU-School-of-Theatre-and-Dance-dies.html http://www.theeastcarolinian.com/news/article_6c73305e-1fd9-11e7-97da-179acd4c95aa.html

Yes, she did. I don't think she would have gone wrong with either guy being endgame.

Had she stayed in the acting genre, I think she could have eked out a very interesting career as a character actress. She had verve, quirkiness and a twinkle in her eye.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
John Stamos has, more than once, called her the one that got away. (They had a brief bicoastal romance back in the early 80s, when she was on EDGE and he was on GH - several years before they played husband and wife on Full House.) Didn't she also have a real-life relationship with her EDGE leading man, Mark Arnold?

Apparently, it never occurred to her that if Rob Reiner hadn't watched her on SB, she never would have gotten the movie role that put her on the map. I think a lot of her bitterness about the show stems with Dane being let go so early into the show's run, and maybe her relationship with him in general. Or maybe she was upset when Marcy Walker (who in 1984 was already a seasoned soap actress with a couple of Emmy nominations under her belt) came on a couple of months into the show's run and became the show's leading lady (it was almost all Kelly/Joe pre-Eden). Whatever the reason, SB opened up a lot of doors for Robin Wright. Regardless of her personal feelings towards the Dobsons or anyone else for the show, she should be grateful for what the show did for her. Maybe Julianne Moore should shake some sense into her.

What did you think of Pam Long as an actress? Do you think she could have made it on another show if she hadn't pursued writing?

In many ways, those shows were ahead of their time.

Some of her co-stars like A Martinez, Richard Eden (Brick) and Robert Thaler (Pearl) have praised her to the skies. Ironically, Mark Arnold said that along with A and Marcy, she was amongst his favorite co-stars. A said on FB once that he and his wife ran into Robin several years ago and had a joyous reunion. Page Moseley (Dylan Hartley) didn't share those sentiments, as he told in an interview from a few years ago: http://santabarbara-online.com/InterviewPMoseley2.htm Or Nathan Fillion, Judith Light, etc....

I agree. Maybe it was the idea of Michael Malone or one of the other writers.

I asked Susie Bedsow Horgan that question on FB. Here is her answer: "You know I don't remember. Could have been but I really have no idea. Sorry!"

I don't think they would have withstood losing them. They were the heart and soul of the show. Besides, the show didn't really groom any of the secondary characters that well, especially in the last couple of years. When SFT ended, the only actor besides MS and LH with any significant tenure was Marcia McCabe (Sunny), who had been on for 8 years. The final two years had seen the departure of longtime cast members like Rod Arrants, Sherry Mathis, Maree Cheatham and Lisa Peluso (though I believe they all left of their own accord). Most of the cast at the end had only been there for a year or two.

I think that Marie and Palmer stayed until about 1976. I don't know whether or not it was their choice to leave. In a vintage soap magazine interview, Palmer Deane mentioned that the character of Hank was written with no particular actor - black or white - in mind. Hank and Lauri's stories are not racial (though they might be down the line), but problems that any person of any color could face. They have both suffered injuries/losses that threatened their dreams...he was shot trying to rescue Matt from a junkie and lost the use of his arm, critical in his goal to be a neurosurgeon (though he is coming along well in his rehab at this point in the story), and she lost her singing voice and along with it any hope of continuing her singing career. I think anyone watching today could relate to them.

She basically said the same thing...and that watching these episodes over four decades later has brought back a lot of happy memories.

I can't believe it has been nearly two decades already...and I remember when the announcement came down, too. I still miss the goings on of the folks in Bay City.
