Guiding Light Discussion Thread
The first group are Meta Bauer, her husband Joe and stepson Joey. They are worrying over Joe's daughter Kathy, who had just been on trial for the death of her husband Bob Lang in a car accident, and is also pregnant. She is now married to Dick Grant, whom she'd wanted to be with all along, and he thinks the baby is his (it's not). The second group are Dick's parents, Laura and Richard. Laura hates Kathy and sees her as ruining the reputation and future of Dick.

I think there was some, but too late in the life of the show, especially for JR.

In good quality too. April 1, 1953. I checked and couldn't find the episode elsewhere, although there is already some March and April around. There's always a double-edged sword in so much of one period being around when so much else is gone but I'm still very grateful and I'm sure you will be too. Most of this is just the Roberts and the Grants, the former worrying about Kathy and the latter having Laura Grant at her most imperious in her schemes to break up Dick and Kathy. One surprise is we actually get to see Joey Roberts. I assume this is Tarry Green. I don't think we've ever seen him before, although I may be wrong. I was going to say he looks a bit old for 18 but this is 1953...not sure how old Green was but I see he had been in Broadway shows starting in 1951.

Thanks for all you do, and the quick response. I guess my days of watching trashy '90s movies still have occasional use.

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
@slick jones I can't find any closing credits for this episode. Is the doctor who pops up in this a few times in the first six minutes Craig Stepp? Or is it another actor? I see that it isn't included in your list of Craig's credits but if it was an unidentified part then we may not know who the actor is.

Trying to watch some of Jean's interview...I don't try to go out of my way to criticize Locher, but he's doing a lot of forced laughing here, seems patronizing, and clearly doesn't have much awareness of Jean's work, especially Loving. Jean barely speaks about Loving. Alan asks how he and Genie felt about moving over to Loving. He said they felt no pressure as they knew they wouldn't be to blame if the show was canceled, and he enjoyed spending time with her and Jonathan Frakes. He talks about the twin story. He says in so many words that the writing was bad, and production couldn't do anything to help. He enjoyed getting to play dual roles, the process. Alan asks him about Jeremy's death (Alan says Gilbert died - wrong!). Jean laughed and recounted the murder. He said ABC approached him about killing off Jeremy by saying they could just bring the other one (Gilbert) back. He said fine. He knew the show was doomed anyway.- ARTICLE: Carson Boatman Confirms ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Exit
I could see him ending up in some type of stuff like those vertical videos that are made very cheaply, although that's probably not something the show would care about getting into.- GH: Classic Thread

That's a great idea - given the current state of mergers and evil money men I could see Drew buying a major studio and bringing Dillon under his wing to spite Tracy.- ARTICLE: Carson Boatman Confirms ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Exit
A shame they never did much for Dillon when he was around.- GH: January 2026 Discussion Thread
I do think Michael and Willow have some similarities to Alan and Monica (more than AJ and Carly did), so I could see that type of tense reunion working, but I agree I'd rather see Michael put in a strong new pairing for a while at least. You knew that Monica was always going to be Alan's forever - he was even brought into the show for her. Michael has a decade history of other women. Willow also has seemingly no love for Michael, even if Michael may still love her underneath all his disgust.- Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
After reading Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's recent comments of how they were told by Netflix to recap the plot 3-4 times during scenes for their movie due to viewers being busy on their phones, I appreciate the intelligence and respect Slesar carried in his work even more.- Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
I do wish that they'd had Timmy (now Tim) come home from college and get to meet Laurie Ann. They could have even had him say he wanted to become a lawyer, like Mike. I guess they figured bringing back two long lost Karr kids would be too much...- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
You're right - probably is the script-writer. I imagine Alex would have reverted if Marj had stayed. I sometimes feel bad for being critical of Marj's Alex as she seems like such a wonderful person and I do think she was a fascinating, charismatic presence. I'm glad she got a few moments at least...and that she stuck it out to the end of the show because for all my disappointments with what she had to do as Alex, it would have felt wrong for me if Alex had not been there at the end.- Dallas Discussion Thread
This is one of the reasons I never quite connect with Dallas the way I do some of the other primetime soaps...I know nothing changes on most of them, but Dallas in particular, the central characters never get to progress.- Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
This is beautifully said. I'm so grateful to all of you here who share your memories of the show. Edge was such a unique show and seemed to be of high quality for such a lengthy period of time. I'm sorry so little of the show is available from those golden years.- Dallas Discussion Thread
That was one of Ken's best performances. I wish they'd done more with that story instead of him being such a caricature.- ARTICLE: Carson Boatman Confirms ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Exit
I was joking about Aiden, but they aged up that character so much, presumably due to panic after making him gay, that I wouldn't care anymore. Jane's worked with her share of iffy actors so I think he'd be OK...but I don't see them adding any more Qs at the moment. I could see him being yet another Noah on Y&R.- Dallas Discussion Thread
That sounds more interesting than the stories Lucy had.- Dallas Discussion Thread
I might have brought back the gay man Lucy nearly married. I know that wasn't likely for late '80s TV but she could have had a bit of comedy with him and maybe moved away with him when they wrote Lucy out a second time. A few years later it might have been interesting to see them appear on Knots and we learn that they decided to raise a child together (through artificial insemination or what have you). - All My Children Tribute Thread
