  1. I've seen some fan comments upset about this because it means Sonny, Michael and Carly will be in the right. I suppose it tells you how much Rory Gibson has managed to pivot Michael for me away from just being Carly's son or Sonny's progeny because I don't even care. Oh and Drew's little tantrum on the stand may be one of Cameron Mathison's most effective performances. I laughed because Drew is a fool, yet I also paused because he reminds me so damn much of the people running companies and governments these days. Michael coolly smirking at him was also fun (and hot).
  2. I remember watching this one on Youtube. I agree it was well done. AW seemed to use their television station better than some soaps (until WBAY was presumably dumped by JFP).
  3. I could see Drew doing that for sure. He won't want to let her go. I could also see Michael and Willow carving out their own Monica and Alan lane (Monica never shot anyone but she did almost lobotomize them). It would be easy to write Chase out now, but I'd rather they just show his slow degradation. (and maybe some sleazier wardrobe)
  4. I also never bought Michael being an international spy. I am not sure why the show went so crazy with Michael when his early story would have been enough.
  5. @zanereed Thanks for giving the info on the stories Mike was meant to have. I never knew any of this. I do think he would have added more heft to the Barbados arc and bridged the gap as the stuff with the on the way out Reardon brothers/Annabelle and the never again seen Victoria/Sharina/Brandon ultimately went nowhere.
  6. I thought it might be Scout, but that may have been too cliched in the wrong ways. I also half-expected Wiley, which would have been a bad idea for several reasons. I mostly just want to see Chase get shaken to his core by this - I want to see a full breakdown and losing everything and then maybe he can end up as Willow's manwhore on the side while she bleeds Drew dry and continues to have feelings for Michael.
  7. Justin rarely went to awards shows. He didn't care about them. If he gave them away recently, it may be down to him having stage 4 lung cancer.
  8. I didn't realize she had been on Y&R. I'm glad it helped pay for her health insurance, if nothing else. Just last year I watched her in Little Murders. I wasn't entirely sure how to take her performance, but it stays with you, as does the film. A very disturbing work which, cliche as it is to say, feels very current.
  9. Now there's a prequel I'd watch! My favorite part is about Rachel shoving Donna into a fruit basket. You can see why Anna Stuart was not happy with the writing...and also why Victoria Wyndham was so often unhappy with the writing to a point of leading her into Couplets Meets Bay City.
  10. They are scrounging around for any known property in talent show form. I'd say they'd bring back the Gong Show but that's probably been trademarked by someone in the government. This should be Netflix's next revival: Stairway To Stardom (1983) - show open with montage
  11. I haven't watched any of that period but I wonder if he interacted with Ada during the point where Rachel and Michael nearly married and moved to Hawaii (I still can't imagine any of that - and I don't believe Rachel would be interested in him either).
  12. It's interesting how they are slowly dropping all the charm they thought could get Martin by and just have him there to pull nasty stunts against Tracy to move the plot along. I wish she could make him pay for what he's done but Frank will probably not let this dud character go.
  13. Sarah Michelle Gellar and...two other people are on the latest revival of Star Search. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/netflix-star-search-judges-sarah-michelle-gellar-jelly-roll-chrissy-teigen-1236465624/
  14. Beautiful and romantic is a good way to describe them. The women were allowed to have more complex inner lives and feelings and yet we could also aspire to their world. As the '80s go along the women become more like cardboard cutouts, with a few exceptions, but we see some glimmers of that era again here.
  15. Given their demoting him I don't think we're meant to care about him.
  16. Thanks @Maxim . It's interesting seeing the levels of self-righteousness - Jason going off on Dorian even though he has no real right (although he was right to call her out on just why she went in on Marty), then Leanne taking the moral high ground on Jason when she of all people has no legs to stand on. I assume Leanne/Jason are still meant to be the rooting couple here, but it's difficult to care. Dorian pointing out Jason's roster of damsels amused me. I find the Jason/Marty relationship more interesting than his relationship with Leanne because I don't think he loves Marty, he just cares about her and wants her to be better, but not in a way I find heavily patronizing. I'm glad Dorian asked Jason why he even wanted to be with her if he has such a low opinion of her. At least that led him to say he cared (I wish he'd said a little more but clearly it's a struggle).
  17. Jonathan Jackson Releases First Solo Album, ‘Under the Sk...General Hospital favorite and six-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer) has dropped his first solo album today on January 6 entitled, Under the Skies of Babylon: Volume One. Th
  18. I see the show wants to make fans hate Trina by having her accuse Michael of the shooting. (maybe that isn't the goal but this being one of her very few moments of story in ages makes me wary)
  19. Thanks again @Maxim . Great clips. Marty and Dorian of course (Dorian walked right into that "money can't buy class" retort - I wonder if one of the other reasons Dorian hates her is because she had to fight for money while Marty was born into it [more of the Viki resentments being transferred]), but also Dorian and Bo/Nora. Robin Strasser and HBS always spark well together. Robin and Mark Brettschneider had such a tender and believable chemistry. You're right about the writing being willing to put some of the blame on the women - it's a fine line because soaps can be very misogynist, but I don't think that's happening here (you could argue about Tina though).
  20. If she did, she should have just stuck to her plan, although with Hope gone and the Bauers so diminished it wouldn't have had much impact without Don Stewart. On top of the loss of Mike, Ed was, as you said, poorly recast. And while I liked Peter Simon, his Ed was never going to work as a patriarch (Simon also likely would have balked at the idea). They should have tried to do a better job with bringing in a new branch of the Bauer family than they did with Johnny. And then brought back Mike and Hope. Ideally Stewart could have returned permanently post-Kobe.
  21. Soaps had had graphic attempted rape prison stories from the '70s through the '90s. This was more challenging in the sense that they went further with Michael's rape, but they were more low-key with the moment. (this story was later extensively retconned due to the show's love of the Franco character - originally, Franco was the one who ordered Michael to be raped)
