Y&R and B&B March 2022 spoilers
The producer Casey said the Brooke announcement isn't the big event that he's been teasing.

Knots Landing
I seem to remember that season being in two parts with the story pivoting at some point. I remember loving one half of it, but I can’t remember the particulars of it.

Falcon Crest
I’m 3 episodes into season one and it’s very good. I wouldn’t recommend skipping it. I think Falcon Crest was smart with how they handled it by including a mystery story arc to tie everything together. That’s actually very modern of them. The location and winery also lended itself well to those self contained episodes. It allowed them to develop the characters as opposed to Dallas and Knots which sometimes felt more “story of the week” in those days.

Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
I enjoy the character of Leo and had hoped he’d bring some life to this awful Craig/Nancy story, but nope. They have no chemistry and the show didn’t do a good job of convincing me (or Chloe or Brady) that it makes sense. Ite sad because Chloe suddenly became interesting when her parents returned, but this is such a cursed story. They should’ve just brought back Joy or literally anything other than this.

Falcon Crest
What a nice surprise! I haven’t rewatched Falcon Crest in many years. It’ll be nice to revisit it!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I did see that about Kiki and was disappointed! I know it’s easy to say she didn’t bring much, but I think she brought a special joy that Miami needed. She brought that element of kindness and kookiness that Mama Elsa brought to the show. I don’t necessarily need her full time, but to me she was the perfect friend.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
It was hard enough to watch the last two episodes of the season. There’s no way I can sit through that Salt Lake City reunion. I’m ready for a loooooong break. We have some good stuff coming up (Married to Medicine, Dubai, Beverly Hills and Atlanta) and I’m hopeful these shows are a good palate cleanser so I’ll be willing to give season three a shot. They just have me exhausted and it’s no longer fun to watch. I’m ready for new stuff! Also, in other pretty minor news (for us at least), Real Housewives of Cheshire has delayed filming of their new season because 3 of their 9 housewives have quit. OG Tanya, Debbie and Nicole. Pretty amazing that they wouldn’t continue with the cast of six they have, but that should tell them just how weak the overall cast is. Now would be the perfect time to bring back Ampika and Magali, but watch them fumble the ball once again.

Y&R February 2022 Discussion Thread
I’ve seen a podcast used for story that is interesting, but of course this ain’t it. It amazes me that they keep getting these dead end stories approved. They don’t even seem to do those Emmy bait episodes anymore. It’s just nonstop snooze.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Our girl is about to debut this Wednesday! Its a shame based on ratings it looks like it won’t be renewed because the show is actually not bad and her character seems amazing! I hope it leads to more opportunities for her.

Y&R and B&B March 2022 spoilers
I love that nobody has faith in B&B to pull this twist off lol. It’ll either be underwhelming or ridiculous (possibly both!) and the effects will subside in three months.

Beverly Hills, 90210 Discussion Thread
There's interviews posted a couple pages back with some of the writers and Ray was meant to stay long term and be redeemed. Aaron Spelling thought that it made Tori look dumb to stay with an abuser and forced them to write him off. I hate they ever went with the abuse angle. Especially with Dylan leaving, he would've been a good character to have around to fit that brooding thing that Luke brought to the show. Another story he ended was when they were going to pair Cress Williams character with Donna. He didn't want his daughter to have a Black boyfriend, so the character was written off.

Primetime Soaps
I loved The Monroes when it aired on SOAPnet. I'd never heard of it and thought it was pretty good. I loved Susan Sullivan and William Devane as the heads of the family and wish they at least got one full 22 episode season.

Beverly Hills, 90210 Discussion Thread
I was having so much fun watching those first four seasons, but now that I'm in season 6 it's more of a challenge. It's like a completely different show now, very Melrose Place, which I don't mind, but the quality isn't there. The casting of all the new characters is good, but the writing is weak. Right now they've brought Emma Caufield on as an Andrea 2.0 basically repeating the storyline that Andrea and Brandon had in the early years. This is yet another example they could've just kept Andrea. I'll also say, they are fools for making Ray a woman beater, because the actor is good and actually has good chemistry with Tori Spelling. I find that as time goes on, the most interesting things (other than Valerie) are the side stories. I love the comedy we get from Steve and Clare and it's always nice when we get a scene of the girls or the boys together. Basically, whatever character moments slip through because the storylines (especially this season) aren't really hitting.

Knots Landing
I will never understand how John Romano got hired. He's a good writer, but this seemed like an odd choice for him. I wonder why they didn't go back to Peter Dunne or one of the former writers, or even someone from Dallas. What Ann Marcus did with the rest of the season and season 14 was truly remarkable. To be gone for so long and have to get up to speed during a crisis, she did amazing work. To this day I wish Joan Van Ark didn't leave because the story they were developing with William Devane was clearly going to be something special.

Y&R February 2022 Discussion Thread
I tuned back in for the first time in a year for the Keemo mentions. This week I found the scenes on Tuesday to be very well written and they set up years worth of story with Keemo and Jack’s strained relationship. To then kill him a couple episodes later is typical modern Y&R. I have no interest in what comes next. How do you bring up a core characters child after 25 years and just kill them off in a week?! This is a soap opera. A procedural would’ve given us more than this.

Knots Landing
Yep and that’s why Dianne didn’t go anywhere, because their focus was on the plot driven stalker storyline. Prior to that on Knots, whatever the business was, took a back seat and the focus was on how that particular job affected the characters personally. They didn’t even need the Jeff character to tell a compelling story. That was a frustrating story for me.

Scream 5
I mostly enjoyed this, but I agree that the actress who played Samantha was just awful. I hope they look at the successes of this film and minimize her role for a sequel. The actors who played Tara, Mindy and Chad were all fantastic and I'd much prefer the sequel focus in on them and also the return of Kirby. Sam can be an opening kill or a killer, but I can't do another film with her blank expressions like she's Kelly Monaco.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I don't know if I can stand this SLC reunion. Like @Catsaid, this season has been long and exhausting. I'm ready to be done with SLC for a LONG time! Throw in the pictures of them on a five girl cast trip with no newbie, I just am not interested in what they have coming. They should've made episode 20 the finale. It had lots of fun bits and the final episode felt more like a Lost Footage episode. The ending with Jennie attacking Mary and everybody ignoring it was disturbing to watch. Then to see Lisa and Jennie still cheering about it on the after show made me feel even worse. I need Beverly Hills and Atlanta to return.

Knots Landing
The most important thing to the Lechowick's was STYLE! Style came before story or character, which is why the show had such slumps at times when they couldn't think up compelling stories. You saw the same thing when Lynn Latham joined Y&R. I actually feel she had potential to be the best post-Bill Bell HW (had she kept the old team), but her desire to change everything ruined her tenure. When it was still a collaboration she brought great ideas to the show that worked well, but once she got total control we got silly things like one minute scenes, no jewelry because of the way diamonds are mined, no bottled water because it's bad for the environment. Just silly stuff that has nothing to do with creating a good show.

Knots Landing
As many times as I've watched the series, I can't decide if I liked Claudia or not. I thought Kathleen Noone did a great job in the role, but the connection to Greg and Kate's existence were weak. I feel like Donna Mills left at the right time. You could tell in her final season they were close to taking her too far, but they bundled replacing her. Claudia was too dark and Anne became too comical. I feel like the real missed opportunity was with Robin Strasser's Diane character. She had amazing chemistry with Michele Lee, which was critical to an Abby replacement and she could've easily moved into the cul-de-sac and mingled with The Sumner Group eventually.

Knots Landing
I’m going to have to look for Angel Falls and Orleans, but 2000 Malibu Rd was amazing and deserved a longer run. I’ve read it’s ratings were good but something behind the scenes caused it to end. It was such a unique story for a prime time soap. And another one with a Knots connection!

Knots Landing
I recently bought Second Chances/Hotel Malibu on DVD. These are two series CBS used to try to replace Knots, along with Four Corners, which was created by David Jacobs. Second Chances was created by Lynn Marie Latham and Bernie Lechowick and Hotel Malibu was created by them and developed by James Stanley and Diane Messina Stanley. Considering Knots ended due to budget issues, not ratings and they used so many writers from the show to create replacements, I’m surprised they didn’t try to tie one of these series to Knots. The show has a loyal fan base so it seems like a no brainer considering. The pilot of Second Chances was great and would’ve been easy to write as a spin off. Hell, they could’ve just made Michelle Phillips character Anne Matheson since they’re written in the same way.

Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
Thank you for this! I’m going to buy it mostly to hear about the failed reboot and dreadful Burton film. I still have hopes the new reboot gets picked up. I was really impressed by the Bloody-Disgusting interview with the writer. I hope their wish of finding a streaming home comes true.

I am so happy for her! After everything she's been through, to be back in primetime on CBS is amazing.

Great Pitch, Poor Execution
I'm glad yall are talking about the Maya storyline. It was an interesting idea, but the wrong character I feel. I hated how once she was revealed as transgender, she lost all of her layers and deviousness. It was like had to be a saint now that she was trans. It just felt regressive and I knew the moment they did that storyline that her time was numbered. She was literally the lead of B&B for a while and as soon as Brad put that story on her back he pulled back.
