  1. True. Very true. Not so bad being that it's on a Wednesday, but enough where people were actually blind sided by this. And for how soon the change is happening. There's not even time to "celebrate" the show in terms of how long it aired on NBC. Usually when a show moves from one network (or service in this case) to another, they get to have some kind of celebration for the time they were on the original platform before moving on. Key word is usually.
  2. Here's what I know thus far...releasing this at the end of business on any day of the week ain't the best time to make "good news" announcements.
  3. So I barely had time to sit in my chair before the news got officially announced. Been on the phone with some peeps. Trying to find out more details beyond what NBC announced. ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Making The Shift From NBC To Peacock Starting September 12 "Days of our Lives" to end its historic run on NBC with a move to streaming service Peacock, becoming the first daytime broadcast series to do so. The soap will be replaced by "NBC News Daily" or local news on NBC stastions.
  4. Beginning Monday, September 12, “Days of our Lives” will conclude its broadcast television run on NBC and will move exclusively to streaming service Peacock, it was announced today. The series will be replaced by “NBC News Daily” in the soap’s former network timeslot. In making the announcement, the network noted that the flagship series will debut with all-new episodes that will be released daily on Peacock as part of the services premium plan. Previously, the soap had been available to stream without a paid subscription since joining the platform in mid-2020. It became a Peacock exclusive for streaming purposes in July 2021. The soap now joins the spinoff series “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” for what is being billed as the ultimate destination for daytime fans. Since its debut on November 8, 1965, “Days of our Lives” has wracked up 58 Emmy Awards, including its most recent win for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series in 2018, and has received 372 nominations overall. The soap has aired more than 14,000 episodes and had been NBC’s longest-running series. Ken Corday is the executive producer and Albert Alarr is the co-executive producer. Ron Carlivati is the head writer. With “NBC News Daily,” the network is offering stations a first-of-its-kind, live in most markets mid-day news, an hourlong program anchored by NBC News’ team of journalists, including Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen and Morgan Radford that’ll provide viewers with up-to-the-minute national and international news. NBC stations will also have the option to add local news instead, should they decide to go that route. “NBC News Daily” will also be streamed simultaneously on NBC News NOW and Peacock. “This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers,” said Mark Lazarus, Chairman, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “With a large percentage of the ‘Days of our Lives’ audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.” NBC-owned stations will announce their specific daytime schedule soon. 5. Ahead of the show’s fourth season finale airing later this month, Freeform has given a green light to a fifth season of drama series “Good Trouble.” The announcement came during Tuesday’s virtual TCA press tour session. “Freeform is evolving with young adults because we are not about an age — Freeform is an attitude,” said the network’s president Tara Duncan during opening remarks. “Series like ‘Good Trouble’ — which I am happy to announce today is being picked up for its fifth season — and our flagship series ‘Grown-ish’ and more recently ‘Cruel Summer,’ ‘Single Drunk Female,’ ‘Everything’s Trash’ and ‘The Come Up,’ our newest series which we are paneling today.” “Good Trouble” follows the residents of Downtown Los Angeles’ The Coterie as they juggle career, love and the 20-something growing pains at a time in your life where your friends are your family. “General Hospital” alum Bryan Craig joined the cast during season four as a series regular, playing the role of Joaquin, an independent investigative journalist with a mysterious background. Created by Joanna Johnson (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), Peter Paige and Bradley Bredeweg, the series, a spinoff of “The Fosters,” stars Maia Mitchell, Cierra Ramirez, Tommy Martinez, Emma Hunton, Sherry Cola, Zuri Adele, Beau Mirchoff, Josh Pence and Priscilla Quintana along with the aforementioned Craig. Johnson serves as showrunner and executive producer. Christine Sacani, Greg Gugliotta, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez also executive produce. So far this season, “Good Trouble” ranks among the year’s top 10 ad-supported cable dramas among Women 18-34, a core sales demographic for the network. 6. “One Life to Live” alum Trevor St. John (ex-Todd Manning/Victor Lord, Jr.) is joining the cast of “The Young and the Restless.” According to Deadline, which first reported the news, St. John begins taping this month and will first air sometime later this fall on the drama series. No additional details have been released, particularly regarding who he’ll be playing on the soap or the actors/characters he’ll be interacting with. Since “One Life to Live” concluded its ABC run in 2012, and its brief online reboot in 2013, St. John has gone on to appear in episodes of “The Client List,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Mentalist,” “CSI: Cyber” and “The Fosters,” among many other shows. He starred in multiple episodes of the “Youthful Daze” web series and The CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico.” More recently he appeared in ABC’s “Promised Land.” Set to premiere its 50th season in September, “The Young and the Restless” remains daytime broadcast’s most-watched scripted series. 9. Monte Carlo appears in scenes through at least Wednesday, August 3 or Thursday, August 4.
  10. For the first time since their characters parted ways on “The Bold and the Beautiful” after being shot by Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) in an alleyway, actors Jacqueline MacInnes Wood and Tanner Novlan reunited on-screen during the Friday, July 29 episode of CBS’ “The Talk.” The pair discussed Steffy and Finn’s emotional reunion that will air next week on the daytime drama series in scenes that were shot on-location from Monte Carlo during last month’s annual TV Festival. They also shared insight into their personal lives as both Wood and Novlan’s families recently expanded. Teasing what’s to come on the soap, Wood told the co-hosts, “Steffy is heartbroken. She’s grieving. She has to try to move on with her life and try to heal. She can’t be in Los Angeles anymore…just everything reminds her of Finn and she has to raise their son on her own, so yeah, she is truly broken so she decides to go away, go to Monte Carlo… beautiful place, and just try to move on the best way she can.” Meanwhile, Novlan points out, “It’s nice to see that Steffy is kinda mourning because usually she kinda takes off with another man, so I think Finn’s like, ‘I gotta get to Steffy in a hurry, you know what I mean? We got a reputation around here!’ [sternly said in a joking manner], but no, their love is so deep and so connected, and I think they have a really mature relationship and he’s doing everything he can to get back to his family.” Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Tanner Novlan (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) Photo by Sean Smith/CBS When Sheryl Underwood pointed out how much she was looking forward to the reunion between the characters, which will likely include music and slow-motion reactions, among other things, Novlan promised her, saying, “It’s gonna be epic.” He added, “This’ll be one of the ones that I think they play the reels and the highlights over the years. It’s so good.” Chiming in, Wood revealed, “It’s romantic, it’s passionate and raw too. There will be real emotions so the SINN fans will be so excited to see how we reunite.” “I got to meet a prince!” Novlan said when asked about the experience of being in Monte Carlo. “I’m from a small town. I was a little nervous. I didn’t know what to do. Do you bow? I don’t know… [they were like] ‘No, you just shake his hand. It’s fine. He’s normal.’ He was cool.” As for shooting scenes in Monte Carlo, Wood said, “It’s incredible, it’s so amazing that we get to film there, and the 35th anniversary was just such a moment for us especially when we haven’t been back in years, but to know that the show has been on for 35 years and we all got to celebrate. It’s really, really special.” Welcoming her third child in May, Wood shared that the experience has been amazing. “I guess you could say I’m dancing in the chaos right now because technically it’s like three under three, but I just tell myself to enjoy this moment because it goes by so quickly and just to appreciate the little achievements. I think we all try to get everything done all in one day and we’re so hard on ourselves, and if I can get three laps around my kitchen island and get dishes done, laundry…yes, great!” For Novlan, his second child came in early June. “Our little guy came a little early. He surprised us seven weeks early which was pretty crazy at our house. He’s happy, he’s healthy and very grateful. He had to stay in the NICU for five weeks and so much gratitude to the nurses and the doctors and those kinds of people when you really need them, they’re there…it blew me away. All through his rehab at the NICU was wonderful but now he’s home with us, and he’s beefing up and he’s healthy.” Natalie Morales noted to Novlan that he and his newborn son, Jones, are birthday twins as they were both born on June 6 and that she really liked the name. Novlan shared that he and his wife Kayla Ewell named their son after the title character in Indiana Jones. “A little nod to Indiana Jones… my wife’s a big Indie fan.” Check out Wood and Novlan’s appearance on “The Talk” below. 14. On the Tuesday, July 26 episode of “The Talk,” co-host Natalie Morales announced that beginning next month she will be joining “The Young and the Restless” in the recurring role of Talia Morgan, an investigative reporter looking into Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). Her first airdate is set for Wednesday, August 17. “I have some exciting news to share!” said Morales as she began making the surprise announcement. “Starting next month I have a little role; well it’s a recurring role on the CBS Daytime drama ‘The Young and the Restless.’ I am playing investigative reporter Talia Morgan, yes, and I’m investigating Diane Jenkins, played by Susan Walters. You know she’s the one who faked her own death. She’s returned recently to Genoa City after just being gone for 10 years. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” When asked by fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood who she’ll be playing opposite on the soap, Morales noted that in addition to Walters she’ll also share scenes with Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), among others. “I’m having so much fun. These ladies are incredible,” said Morales of the experience thus far. Of the current co-hosts of “The Talk,” Morales joins Underwood and Akbar Gbajabiamila who have also appeared on CBS daytime dramas. Underwood, a big fan of daytime soap operas, most recently appeared on “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Emmy, a role she first portrayed in 2016; and she also had two roles on “Y&R” from 2012 and 2013. Earlier this year, Gbajabiamila appeared in two episodes of “B&B” as Max, a Forrester Creations executive. In addition to “Y&R,” Morales has also appeared in episodes of several television shows and movies, although this will be the first time since 2011’s “Los Herederos del Monte” in which she’ll be playing someone other than herself. Check out Morales’ full announcement in the clip below. 16. The second chapter of “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” debuted with the first of five all-new episodes on Monday, July 11, and with today’s release of the show’s fifth and final episode of the season, multi-Emmy Award-winning composers D. Brent Nelson and Ken Corday have unveiled a 44-minute score soundtrack in support of the popular daytime spinoff series which is available now across all digital platforms, including Apple Music. Corday is the executive producer of “Beyond Salem” and the parent series “Days of our Lives.” Released by Corday Productions, Inc., the album was recorded at Eastwood Scoring Stage on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, CA where Nelson and Corday gathered a 44-piece live string orchestra and a harpist, a unique feat for a daytime series as most programs in the daypart don’t use an orchestra for music used in episodes. Having pre-recorded woodwinds and prominent percussion, the majority of the project was recorded in an unprecedented four hours, including the main title track “The Quiet Storm,” making it the duo’s most ambitious endeavor to date. “There are places in our show where a cinematic approach enhances the storytelling in a BIG way,” explained Nelson in a statement. “Yes, we are absolutely pushing the envelope in terms of putting music to picture in our genre… And sure, we could settle for a string section half this size. But why? 44 strings sound AMAZING, especially on the Eastwood Stage at Warner Bros. It’s very exciting and so much more fun doing it this way. There’s a sense of tradition and magic happening as the cues are being performed. For me, this is it. This is the thing.” Courtesy of Corday Productions, Inc. To highlight the big moments on screen, Nelson and Corday pulled out all the musical stops to help bring the storyline to life. Since 2012, the two have been incorporating live string orchestras on “DAYS,” and they wanted to go even bigger for this series. “This score for ‘Beyond Salem’ as with the mothership, ‘Days of our Lives,’ is always meant to enhance the story and in doing so only serves as a frame for the big picture,” said Corday. “There are times when the music is played in scenes without dialogue and in those moments the composers have an amazing opportunity to enhance the story in a much more direct way. It has always been my greatest pleasure and creative outlet to have been able to score ‘Days of our Lives’ since 1979. ‘Beyond Salem’ has given us an opportunity to raise the bar and somewhat change the game of composing Daytime Drama.” For more than 18 years, Corday and Nelson have worked together in scoring “DAYS,” winning multiple Emmy Awards for their work, which has blended a complex palette of music styles, including traditional piano/string writing, and acoustic guitar cues, full-blown string orchestra, and smaller orchestra ensembles. Even live choirs have been incorporated into the signature of popular storylines. They have also written and produced all the original set-specific source music, ranging from country, jazz, roadhouse blues, coffee shop acoustic, solo blues piano, dance club, strip lounge and industrial, among others. Additionally, working with local singers/songwriters/lyricists have helped curate a rather large catalog of original songs, many of which have been used on “DAYS” in place of expensive licensed songs. Three have been Emmy-nominated for “Best Original Song.” All five episodes of “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” Chapter 2 are now available to watch exclusively on Peacock. According to a tweet on the show’s official Twitter handle, today’s previously scheduled all-new episode of the daytime drama series will air tomorrow, June 29. All other scheduled episodes will now shift forward by one day, and in time zones not impacted by news coverage, a repeat episode will be shown. The first committee hearing took place on Thursday, June 9 and aired in primetime. All other hearings have since taken place in the daytime and have impacted the airing schedule of many daytime broadcast shows particularly “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” “The Talk” and “The Young and the Restless.” Note: The post ‘General Hospital’ Preempted Nationally appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 23. Right! Time zone adjustment is not being kind to me. LOL. I knew that number sounded weird when I wrote it. Haha.
  24. Peacock Releases Key Art + Official Trailer For ‘Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem’ Chapter 2 Peacock has released the official trailer and key art for "Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem" Chapter 2. The five-episode series begins streaming Monday, July 11 with daily drops through Friday, July 15.
  25. Peacock is ready to unveil the next chapter of the “Days of our Lives” spinoff series “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem.” The streaming service today released the official trailer and key art for the show’s five-episode second season which drops daily beginning Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15. In the minute-long trailer, we stumble upon Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) tied up in a room planning their escape which likely takes place later in the plot as we’re then shown scenes of Steve appearing alongside Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) as they pay a visit to their children in Seattle, including Stephanie and Joey (Abigail Klein and Tanner Stine), and Tripp (Lucas Adams) who Steve had from a prior encounter with Ava (Tamara Braun). Earlier this month on the parent series, Tripp left Salem with plans to connect with his siblings. Meanwhile, for the first time in two years, Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) is reunited with her daughter, Ciara (Victoria Konefal), and for the first time ever is introduced to her grandchild, Beauregard “Bo” Brady Weston. Also shown is Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) who has been MIA for more than 34 years but somehow pops in with ties to Hope while appearing in several disguises, including as a Naval officer, a pizza delivery man, a police officer, and a secret government spy. Ciara is later heard asking Hope who is at the door when we’re shown a stern-faced Harris standing opposite a stunned Hope. Their encounter is set to take place in Montreal. Leaving Salem in November 2018 after learning Will (Chandler Massey) still had feelings for Sonny (then played by Freddie Smith), Paul (Christopher Sean) is back in San Francisco and this time it looks like he’ll be finding love again. Appearing in a fitness gym locker room, Andrew Donovan (Colton Little) is seen asking Paul, “How are you on frequent flier miles?” Andrew is the eldest son of Kimberly and Shane Donovan and hasn’t been seen or heard from since at least 1997. Paul is the son of John Black from a prior relationship with Tori Narita. Look for John to travel to San Francisco to see his son. With the next chapter promising old favorites and brand new faces, the globe-trotting adventure jumps from Montreal to Monte Carlo and to Hong Kong, among other popular destinations, as viewers are pushed even further beyond Salem where the past and present collide for the ultimate “Days of our Lives” event. The trailer includes an appearance by Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) who wonders what his “fancy face” is up to when Hope is shown pulling out a top secret folder with the ISA logo on the front. Bo died a few years ago but recently appeared as an Angel to help save Tripp’s life after the young man had sacrificed himself to help rid the town of the Devil. Also shown is Angela (Loretta Devine), an angel who interacts with Bo and is none too pleased with his recent actions. Gabi and Li (Camila Banus and Remington Hoffman) get busy on the top floor of a high-rise tower while Kristen (Eileen Davidson) is shown being her normal sneaky self. Look for Joey and Tripp to place their bets when their encounter with Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) goes from catching a mystery person off guard to them putting all their cards on the table for some fun and games. Lastly, Harris can be seen holding his own mystery person at gunpoint on the open seas. With a mix of sex, gambling and heaven, John and Steve prepare to take on the big bad villain when Steve proclaims, “Now, let’s get to work.” And so begins another chapter of “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem.” Watch the official trailer below. As shown in the official key art below with the “B” and “H” weddings rings, the overall plot will center on Bo and Hope and their decades-long relationship in a tale filled with larger-than-life romance, jaw-dropping twists, and high-stakes drama that all connects back to a memorable plot that originated on “Days of our Lives” long ago.
