  2. Correct. I’ll make light of that next time. Thanks for the reminder. LMAO. For a second I thought I used the wrong photo or wrote the wrong words. Haha. Wendy had a 0.8 Household rating last year. So “Sherri” is mostly on par.
  3. As has become a tradition, an upcoming episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful” will feature stars from the most recent season of “Big Brother.” In a video posted on the show’s social handles earlier today, “Big Brother” winner Taylor Hale can be seen standing center to houseguests Joesph Abdin and Monte Taylor outside the soap opera’s soundstage as they discuss their upcoming appearance on the soap. “You won’t believe where we are,” teases Hale at the start of the video. “We’re at ‘B&B’! Not ‘Big Brother’ … ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ and we’re so excited to be here filming a really awesome episode to show you all. We can’t tell you when it’s airing but stay tuned!” In winning her season of “Big Brother,” the show’s 24th overall, Hale was part of “The Leftovers” alliance and won Head of Household two times (weeks 6 and 11). Overall, she spent 82 days in the Big Brother house and is the first Black woman to win a civilian season of the U.S. version of the reality franchise. In terms of “Big Brother” history, Tamar Braxton was the first Black woman to win a season of the game, albeit the celebrity edition. Check out a clip of them teasing their upcoming appearance below. 4. “Big Brother” alum and “Tainted Dreams” star Jessie Godderz has been tapped to host “Whacked Out,” a brand-new series in development from the creators of “Whacked Out Sports,” which is being earmarked for an early 2023 release. ”Whacked Out” (Poster) Courtesy of Whacked Out TV, LLC Whacked Out TV, LLC has partnered with production and distribution company Stream Go Media on the new project to bring back the concept of a show featuring professional and amateur clips highlighted by sports-related mishaps, crashes and bloopers. The original series debuted in 2006 on FOX stations and continues to air today (check local listings). In a statement, Godderz tells Soap Opera Network, ‘Whacked Out Sports’ is one of the most popular and well-known franchises in TV history and I’m incredibly honored and excited to join this legendary brand as the host of their brand new series.” He adds, “We will be bringing laughter and joy to a whole new generation of fans and I cannot wait to get started. ‘Whacked Out’ is now truly PEC-Tacular.” Joining Godderz as correspondents will be viral sketch comedian Ryan Decker and famed stuntman Jason Gupton. Together, they will showcase stunts, sketch comedy, amateur action sports, fail videos, and viewer-submitted actors of “Whacked Out” craziness. In addition to his reality TV stardom and acting career, Godderz is an OV Wrestling (OVW) superstar. The syndicated wrestling series is available on the following networks and digital platforms: YTA, Next Level Sports, Game+, The Action Channel, Astound TV Network and FITE TV. Distributed by Broken Icon Comics as part of their “The Adventures of Al Snow and Head” series starring WWE Legend Al Snow, Godderz has a brand new “Mr. PEC-Tacular” comic book coming out soon. In 2017, Godderz made his daytime acting debut, guest starring in an episode of “The Young and the Restless” as a security guard who encounters Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Noah (then played by Robert Adamson) at the Crushfrest Music Festival. That same year, he also appeared in the premiere episode of FX’s “Snowfall.” From 2014-2017, he starred as Dylan Buckwald in “Tainted Dreams,” a web series created by Daytime Emmy Award-winning director Sonia Blangiardo Goins (“Days of our Lives”). He went on to play Evan McLaine in the Amazon series “New Dogs, Old Tricks.” Check out a clip of Godderz discussing “Whacked Out” below. “Whacked Out” Teaser Clip Note: The post OV Wrestling Superstar Jessie Godderz to Host New ‘Whacked Out’ Series appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 5. Note: A post in this thread was deleted because it referenced a person who is not to be discussed on this forum, ever. Person is the Voldemort of SON and is oft referred to as “She who shall not be named.” Now, I won’t go into details of who that is, or why this is, but there is a long history behind it and it’s best we keep them from being referenced on this forum. It’s nothing personal against them. There’s no beef. It’s just best for all. Thank you.
  6. Two weeks into their debut seasons, both “Sherri” and “The Jennifer Hudson Show” are off to solid starts in daytime syndication among talk shows, reports Next TV and TV News Check. During the week of September 19-23, 2022, the most current week available for daytime TV syndicated ratings, “Sherri” averaged a 0.7 rating in Households while “JHud” averaged a 0.6 rating. Compared to their debuts one week earlier, “Sherri” is flat while “JHud” is slightly down (0.6 vs. 0.7 rating). The latter series was up substantially from the year ago performance of “Nick Cannon” which it mainly replaced on stations across the U.S. (0.6 rating vs. 0.4 rating). “Nick Cannon” was canceled after just a few months on the air. “Live with Kelly and Ryan” remained the highest rated syndicated daytime talk show among both Households (1.5 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.6 rating), averaging 2.200 million viewers, to score its most-watched week in four months (since week of May 23, 2022). In fact, the daily series delivered the largest weekly growth of any daytime talk show – network or syndicated – in Total Viewers (+13%; 2.200 million vs. 1.941 million) and was the only daytime talk show to post week-to-week gains across all key Nielsen categories (Households, Total Viewers and Women 25-54 rating). The show has now ranked as the highest-rated daytime talk show among Women 25-54 rating for the 37th week in a row, including 15 weeks of ties. “Dr. Phil” remained second among Households (1.4 rating), Total Viewers (2.017 million) and Women 25-54 (0.4 rating). Rounding out the top three in Women 25-54 was a five way tie between “Kelly Clarkson,” “Tamron Hall,” “Drew Barrymore” “Steve Wilkos” and “Sherri,” each with a 0.3 rating in the key women sales demo. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime syndicated talk shows performed during the the week of September 19-23, 2022, sorted by Households. 7. While there are many factors that could have contributed, none of them have solid stats to support them. With that said, Peacock previously attributed its gains in subscribers this time last year and in Q1 to sports, specifically “Sunday Night Football,” the Olympics and “Bel-Air.” Q2 was stagnant because they had nothing to offer while Q3 had the movies “Minions,” “Jurassic World: Dominion,” “Days of our Lives” move, next day airings of NBC/Bravo shows (after deal at Hulu ended) and a huge discount of $1.99 a month or $19.99 for a year. I personally do not think you can grant a two million subscriber gain on a soap opera, especially when Peacock didn’t mention it once in any press release or announcement citing the increase in subs.
  8. Since “NBC News Daily” (1.312 million) replaced “Days of our Lives” on NBC three weeks ago, the news program has gone from a significant sore spot on the network’s lineup with just 935,000 viewers in week one to a potential winner in week two after tying both “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.595 million) and “The Talk” (1.358 million) in the all-important key women sales demos. Now in week three, the new series not only continues to tie its ABC and CBS competitors in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, but the show is now less than 50,000 viewers away from topping “The Talk” in Total Viewers. For the week of September 26-30, 2022, just 46,000 viewers separated “The Talk” and “NBC News Daily.” Week to week, the program gained +191,000 viewers, the largest weekly gain for any daytime broadcast series. In just three weeks, “NBC News Daily” has dropped the viewership gap between the two shows from +419,000 to just +46,000. Last week the gap was significantly higher with the CBS talk show leading the NBC news show by a much healthier +263,000 viewers. In Women 18-49 viewers, “NBC News Daily” beat “The Talk” by +15,000 viewers (126,000 vs. 111,000) while in Women 25-54 viewers “NBC News Daily” led “The Talk” by +1,000 viewers (179,000 vs. 178,000). In positive news for “GMA3,” the ABC news program was the only broadcast series up year to year in Total Viewers, gaining +80,000 viewers over the year ago period. The show is also up from its performance during the same period in 2020. “GMA3” leads both “NBC News Daily” and “The Talk” by significant margins in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 viewers. “General Hospital” (2.191 million) was not only the top ABC series in Total Viewers and demos but also showed significant gains over its comparable 2020 performance when a rained-out baseball game forced the network to air an all-new episode of the soap opera. Despite launching their latest seasons on CBS, “The Young and the Restless” (3.169 million) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.801 million) lost the most viewers overall week to week, with the former down -131,000 viewers. In the demos, both soaps were tied for second place with the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.575 million) in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, each with a 0.3 and 0.6, respectively. The second half-hour of “The Price is Right” (4.102 million) retained its number one position in all categories. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of September 26-30, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted on Thursday. 9. The picture I was given to use for the article does NOT do him justice. This is who I hope to see on my screen later this month:
  10. It’s been 14 years since “Passions” concluded its run, and actor James Hyde (ex-Sam Bennett) is finally heading back to daytime TV. He’s been cast in the recurring role of Jeremy Stark on “The Young and the Restless” and will first air over multiple episodes beginning Friday, October 21. Hyde’s character is said to have shared a connection with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) during her time away from Genoa City, which will hopefully help fill in the gaps both Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) are seeking to get the goods on their nemesis/rival. Following the 2008 finale of “Passions,” Hyde has kept himself busy with guest appearances in several notable primetime shows such as “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and the TV series iteration of “Rush Hour.” He more recently starred in the Netflix Mexican drama “Monarca,” which deals with a family’s tequila empire threatened by corruption and deadly secrets. Hyde played Martin Ross, the husband of Ana Mária Carranza Dávila (Irene Azuela), the only daughter of the powerful family. The series was canceled after just two seasons. Hyde has starred in two TV movies this year alone, including “Prisoner of Love” and “Love Under the Lemon Tree.” The former features his “Passions” co-star Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald), who also directed the movie. In addition to his TV movies and “Y&R,” Hyde can also be seen playing a recurring role in the upcoming third season of the Telemundo series, “La Reina del Sur,” which premieres Tuesday, October 18, on the Spanish language network. The show stars Mexican superstar Kate del Castillo as she reprises her iconic role as Teresa Mendoza and takes place four years after U.S. authorities convicted Teresa for the murders of three Drug Enforcement Agents. Separated from her beloved daughter Sofia (Isabella Sierra), Teresa lives behind bars in a maximum-security prison, stripped of all freedoms. Devising a highly sophisticated escape plan, Teresa’s old friends Oleg (Antonio Gil) and Jonathan (Tiago Correa) daringly extract her from prison to take her to Mexico, meeting President Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita). In a world motivated by alliances and secret deals, Teresa agrees to embark on her most dangerous mission yet, taking her throughout Latin America with the urgent hope that she can end her fugitive’s life and reunite with Sofia at last. “La Reina del Sur (Key Art) Courtesy of Telemundo For five seasons, USA Network produced an English-language iteration entitled “Queen of the South,” which remains a massive acquired property for streaming service Netflix. 11. It’ll be two months since it was first announced that Emma Samms would be reprising her iconic role as Holly Sutton on “General Hospital” before we see the actress back on our screens. According to Soap Opera Digest, barring any last-minute preemptions, Samms will make her on-air return to the daytime drama series beginning Wednesday, October 19. Note: Game one of the Major League Baseball Wild Card Series on Friday, October 7 was already built into the schedule. No additional details about her return have been revealed, however, when the character was last seen in 2020, she was believed dead by Port Charles. Viewers would later see Holly very much alive and locked away in a cell in Monte Carlo where she’s been held captive by a mystery person. The storyline was to be picked up shortly after the reveal but Samms had contracted COVID, more specifically long COVID, which the CDC defines as people who have been infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 who “experience long-term effects from their infection, known as post-COVID conditions (PCC)” or long COVID. The website notes that post-COVID conditions include “a wide range of ongoing health problems; these conditions can last weeks, months, or years.” “I have been in the grip of Long COVID, having contracted Coronavirus in March 2020. I’m immensely grateful to [Executive] Producer Frank Valentini and the writers for their understanding and willingness to accommodate my ongoing health issues. I can’t wait to get back to Port Charles!” said Samms in August of her return. In addition to her role on “GH,” Samms also starred as Fallon Carrington Colby in “Dynasty” and its spinoff series “The Colbys.” She later reprised the role in “Dynasty: The Reunion.” Her post-‘Dynasty’ work has been extensive, concentrating on feature films and TV movies, including starring roles in “Delirious,” opposite John Candy, and in “The Marksman,” opposite Wesley Snipes. More recently, Samms returned to her recurring role in the popular BBC television drama, “Doctors.” In October 2021, Samms married former BBC News presenter Simon McCoy. The Wild Card game is scheduled to begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. ET and run through at least 5:00 p.m. ET, barring any overtime games, and will preempt local programming/local news coverage. 13. It’s been a year since CBS announced that former NBC News veteran Natalie Morales would be joining “The Talk” as the show’s new moderator, and now comes word that Morales will be expanding her role at the network to include correspondent at CBS News while still retaining her duties at “The Talk.” “Natalie is one of the best in the business and a welcome addition to CBS News,” said Neeraj Khemlani, president and co-head of CBS News and Stations, in announcing Morales’ additional role. “She has excelled at the highest levels – from network morning shows to longform storytelling – and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on our team. She will be doing stories for ‘48 Hours,’ ‘CBS Mornings,’ ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ and others. She knows how to get to the heart of a tough story with compassion and grace.” Prior to joining CBS, Morales was the west coast anchor of “Today,” a correspondent for “Dateline NBC” and the anchor of “Behind Closed Doors with Natalie Morales,” a series presented by Reelz. She had previously served as host of “Access,” co-host of “Access Live” and was news anchor of “Today,” where she co-hosted the third hour. She joined “Today” in 2006 as a national correspondent, reporting for all of NBC News’ platforms including “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” and MSNBC. “It’s a privilege to contribute to the CBS News programs and I’m hoping to tell the stories that matter and to talk about issues many of us face,” said Morales. “’48 Hours’ pioneered true crime television and I’m looking forward to working with the great team of producers and correspondents to bring the best stories to CBS viewers on Saturday nights.” Now in its 35th season, ‘48 Hours’ is one of the most successful true crime docuseries in television history and has been the #1 non-sports broadcast on Saturday nights for 15 consecutive seasons. “Natalie is a high-profile reporter with a familiar voice that viewers trust. She’s also known for her exclusive, unsparing interviews of notorious criminals including Clark Rockefeller and Drew Peterson,” said Judy Tygard, executive producer of 48 HOURS. “We’ve watched her work for years and we’re excited to have her reporting for us.” During her two decades of reporting for NBC News she covered many major national and international breaking news events, including such stories as the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting, the Boston Marathon bombing, the rescue of Chilean miners in 2010 and the 2009 presidential inauguration. In August 2008, Morales had the exclusive jailhouse interview with the infamous Clark Rockefeller. Her other notable reports include Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the death of Pope John Paul II in 2005 and the election of Pope Francis in 2013. She also reported on the royal wedding in 2011 and the birth of Prince George in 2013. Morales’ work has been honored with three Daytime Emmy Awards as part of “Today’s” recognition as best morning news program. She’s also earned a Robert F. Kennedy Award, three Gracie Awards and a National Headliner Award. On the Monday, October 3 broadcast of “The Talk,” Morales further discussed her expanded role with her fellow co-hosts, saying, “In addition to being one of ‘The Talk’ co-hosts here, I have something that you know I love doing. I’m also going to be a correspondent for CBS news.” She adds, “I love telling stories. I’m passionate about telling long form interviews, investigative reporting, true crime so this is a new opportunity. It gives me a chance to do all of that. I’m going to be working a lot with ’48 Hours,’ in fact I’m shooting my very first story today… I’ve missed reporting. ‘CBS Mornings’ and ‘CBS Sunday Mornings’ are my favorite programs, so I’m so excited to be able to contribute and to be part of this team.” On her first story for “48 Hours,” Morales teases, “This one is kind of top secret. I will just say there is an incredible conclusion and it’s taken decades… It was a cold case. It’s going to be a really good one and it’s something that finally was just resolved… it’s a big one.” Watch a clip of her discussing her new role at CBS News below. “48 Hours” airs Saturdays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. “The Talk” airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS. 14. With both sides standing their ground, The Walt Disney Company and the DISH Network Corporation failed to reach a new carriage agreement that impacts DISH TV and Sling TV customers. As of October 1, 2022, Disney’s media networks, including the ABC-owned stations, the Disney Channels, ESPN Networks, FX Networks, Freeform and National Geographic, are unavailable on DISH TV and Sling TV in what is called a channel blackout. ABC stations impacted by the blackout include stations in such big markets as Chicago, IL (WLS), Fresno, CA (KFSN), Houston, TX (KTRK), Los Angeles, CA (KABC), New York, NY (WABC), Philadelphia, PA (WPVI) and San Francisco, CA (KGO). In a statement (via Deadline), Disney said, “After months of negotiating in good faith, DISH has declined to reach a fair, market-based agreement with us for continued distribution of our networks. As a result, their DISH and Sling TV subscribers have lost access to our unrivaled portfolio of live sports and news plus kids, family and general entertainment programming from the ABC Owned Television Stations, the ESPN networks, the Disney-branded channels, Freeform, the FX networks, the National Geographic channels and BabyTV.” Disney further notes, “The rates and terms we are seeking reflect the marketplace and have been the foundation for numerous successful deals with pay TV providers of all types and sizes across the country. We’re committed to reaching a fair resolution, and we urge DISH to work with us in order to minimize the disruption to their customers.” In a statement released by DISH, the company says Disney “declined DISH’s offer for a contract extension, walked away from the negotiation table and refused to keep its programming accessible for millions of DISH and SLING customers across the United States.” Further, they point out, “The removal of these channels will also have an oversized impact on rural consumers who rely on satellite television as a primary means of entertainment.” “Disney has exploited its market position to increase fees without regard for the public viewing experience,” said Brian Neylon, executive vice president and group president, DISH TV. “Clearly, Disney insists on prioritizing greed above American viewers, especially sports fans and families with children who watch their content.” Pointing out Disney’s push to prioritize its Disney+ and ESPN+ brands over its linear broadcast and cable networks, DISH says, “Disney is more interested in becoming a monopolistic power than providing its programming to viewers under fair terms. Disney plans to spend billions on its direct-to-consumer streaming services such as Disney+ and ESPN+ — platforms not included for DISH and SLING customers.” “We will continue to negotiate to provide the best value for our customers. We want to provide customers with fair rates, reliable service and the freedom of choice to pay for the channels they watch most,” added Gary Schanman, executive vice president and group president, SLING TV. “Disney is an important long-term partner for us, and we hope they will be reasonable in their demands so we can reach a fair agreement and bring our customers’ channels back as quickly as possible.” DISH TV and SLING TV customers can visit dishpromise.com or slingpromise.com for more information. A prolonged dispute between the companies could have a long-term negative impact on such high-profile shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Monday Night Football,” “General Hospital,” “The View,” among others, who count on viewers to set ad rates for the just started 2022-2023 television season. 17. Mishael is on recurring status. The show treats its contract and recurring stars the same in terms of marketing and promotion, hence why Greg Rikaart is also part of the photo shoot even though he’s on contract at “Days of our Lives.”
  18. In addressing recent exit rumors, actress Mishael Morgan posted a message on her Instagram stories timeline early this evening which sets the record straight about her status as Amanda Sinclair on “The Young and the Restless.” “Okay, guys. So, I just wrapped from my last scenes back at ‘Y&R’ and I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag a little bit,” Morgan starts off saying. “A lot of people have noticed that my name is not on the main credits anymore, and I wanted everybody to know that it was my decision. I decided actually back in December that I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show.” Explaining her reasons, Morgan notes, “I just feel like at this point in my life, and at the point in my career, I wanted to mix things up a little bit. But ‘Y&R’ will always be home, and I have so appreciated this safe place to land that they’ve given me so I know that I can be back. They are like family to me, and coming back just reminds me of that.” As for the fans, Morgan shares her appreciation, saying, “I’m so appreciative of you guys and all the fans who have supported me along this ‘Y&R’ journey.” As for what’s next, she makes it clear that she’s not leaving the show per se. “I’m still on it! I’m still going to be on recurring, so you’ll still catch me in Genoa City.” In closing, Morgan conveyed her love and thanks to all. “I love you guys so much. Thank you guys for being a part of this. Keep looking out for new things.” Photo by @mishaelmorgan/Instagram Note: The post Mishael Morgan Addresses Exit Rumors, Reveals Decision to Go Recurring at ‘The Young and the Restless’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 19. Eagle-eyed viewers have been discussing the potential exit of Daytime Emmy Award winner Mishel Morgan from “The Young and the Restless” for weeks, primarily due to her name not appearing in the contract cast list shown during the end credits segment at the end of select episodes — the last time Morgan was credited as a contract cast member was the August 4 episode while her character last appeared on-screen on the August 5 episode. Earlier this month, Morgan seemingly put exit rumors to bed when she responded to multiple worried fans on Twitter, saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll be back on screen very soon.” However, a recent post by co-star Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) has rejuvenated conversations about Morgan possibly leaving the soap. In an Instagram post shared yesterday, September 28, Stafford dedicated a heartfelt message to Morgan: “My super amazing EMMY winning friend! I have had so much fun with you the past 3 years. I love the friendship we created on screen. And the friendship we created off screen. “SO many amazing things are happening for you and I am beyond excited! The future is yours! This is the beginning of so much greatness. I love the scenes we shot today. I love you girl. You are special. Never forget that. Go get um!” Stafford closed her post with a “heart” emoji along with a photo of the two standing side by side during a break from a taping. Morgan’s most recent post on her own Instagram page, published last week, was a short clip of herself moving to the song “Come Check This” by FETISH while in her dressing room at the Television City studio where “Y&R” is taped. She captioned the video with “Ready for my close up!” The clip was liked by nearly 3,000 accounts, including the “Y&R” handle and some of her co-stars. Per its policy, “The Young and the Restless” does not comment on the status of actor contracts. Mishael Morgan is the first African American actress to win a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Drama Series: Actress. During an appearance on “The Talk” shortly after winning the award, the actress spoke of the meaning of the historic achievement. “It means that my hard work has paid off,” she added, noting, “And I feel like, when I was a kid, my dad always told me, you need to be ten times better because you’re black, just to be seen as equal. And I hope this step forward shows that we can be equal. We’re getting to a place where more of us can just be our best, and that’s enough.” Stafford’s post currently stands at just over 3,000 likes, including from fellow cast mates and the show’s casting associate.
