  2. Bradley Bell, head writer and executive producer of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” is expanding into the microseries/vertical series genre, creating “Hollywood Starlet” for aTwist (formerly MicroCo), the U.S.-based microseries studio and platform, launching later this summer. A 16-time Emmy winner for his decades-long career leading the half-hour daytime drama series, Bell’s new series stars vertical veterans Bella Mraz (“Faceless”), Eric Guilmette (“You Belong With Me,” “Tails of Christmas”) and Molly Anderson (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”), with Guilmette also serving as co-producer. The new series will be filmed at the iconic Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood, CA, across multiple stages, with Kristen Brancaccio serving as director and writer and executive producers Anthony Ferrari, Oliver Bell, Paxton Fuller and Graham Lawyer. The elder Bell previously spoke of spinoff opportunities at Bell-Phillip Television Productions, his family-owned company that owns “The Bold and the Beautiful,” though not necessarily with direct ties to the soap opera. “That’s something we’ve been considering. We’re not in production just yet,” he said at the time. “I’m sure the day will come when we do something specifically for streaming.” Lauralee Bell, Bradley Bell, Colleen Bell, Oliver Bell In addition to Rovner, aTwist is founded by its CEO, Jana Winograde (former President of Showtime) and executive chairman, Lloyd Braun (former Chairman of ABC Entertainment Group, studio and network, and Chairman of WME). 3. On the Thursday, June 11 episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” French singer, actress, and television personality Elsa Esnoult will reprise her role as Fanny Greyson, a character first introduced in the French series “Les Mystères de l’Amour” (aka: “Love in Paris”). In the episode, Fanny arrives in Los Angeles seeking a fragrance partnership with Forrester Creations, but of course, with tensions remaining high between two feuding fashion houses (and families) – the Logans (Logan) and the Forresters (Forrester Creations), will their ongoing power struggles and shifting alliances fuel even more drama, witnessed by Fanny? You’ll just have to tune in to find out! In the meantime, Soap Opera Network recently spoke with Esnoult about her return to the long-running half-hour drama series, in which she detailed what it was like being at the show’s new digs at Sunset Las Palmas Studios, spending time with her family in Los Angeles and how Fanny on “The Bold and the Beautiful” differs from the character on “Les Mystères de l’Amour.” First things first: Esnoult’s return to the Los Angeles-based studio was a family reunion of sorts, as she considers the show’s cast and crew an extension of her real-life family. “Each person on the show is so kind and generous, and they let you take your place, and it’s really kind and rare, and honestly, it was an incredible experience for me. It was a pleasure, and I feel really lucky to be there with them.” Since 2023, Esnoult has made multiple appearances on the soap opera, which recently celebrated its 39th anniversary. Her road to the show started with the show’s interest in having a French-speaking character interact with the cast, and the appeal of a crossover between the American series and a French series was something producers couldn’t pass up. While her character is essentially the same on both shows, there are some differences in how she is portrayed. A singer through and through, Fanny is more about rock and roll in her French iteration, while on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” she is more focused and wants to sell her perfume. “The real difference is [on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’] I have the impression she’s close to Thorsten Kaye [Ridge Forrester],” notes Esnoult of her character’s interests in America, though that differs a bit from her French iteration, where she’s “a little bit charming” in America, but in France, she’s married. She has her husband. “It’s fun to play, and it’s cool. And moreover, I love Thorsten, I love Katherine [Kelly Lang, Brooke Logan]. I love Heather Tom [Katie Logan]. They’re friends, and I love them.” Esnoult was already a fan of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” having grown up watching it, so when she got the call to appear on the show, it was a dream come true, but also emotional. “I watched this show when I was really, really young with my grandmother, and nowadays I don’t have her anymore. And it was her favorite series,” she recalls. “She watched it in France. She watched it every day. So I had the impression, the first time I came into the studio, that she was the one who told me, like an angel in the sky, ‘Now it’s your chance. You are in my favorite series. So my little girl, go, go, go. It’s your time. And have fun and continue your passion and continue to grow.’ It was really a gift, a gift, a gift.” Esnoult will primarily share scenes with the aforementioned Thorsten Kaye, Katherine Kelly Lang and Heather Tom, and her character is in for a surprise when she interacts with the three as their characters’ family drama continues to unfold, Esnoult previews. “There are some problems between some characters in the families,” she says, explaining that Fanny quickly picks up on the tension as she tries to sell her perfume line. Looking forward to what the future holds, Esnoult revealed that while she was in Los Angeles taping her appearance on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” she was also in town working on the vertical series “Elsa in L.A.,” which marks her first English-speaking role in the fast-growing digital format. She’ll be playing a French singer who’s out to conquer the second-largest city in the U.S. The project also stars vertical series veterans Cayman Cardiff, Alissa Filoramo and Javi Luna. “I feel incredibly lucky to be working with such a talented and amazing team, and we’re having so much fun together!” she said in an Instagram post in April during filming. “I can’t wait for you to discover this new story and take you with me into this American world.” Esnoult also got to spend time with her real-life family, marking the first time she was in the area with her husband and their eight-month-old baby, telling us “Because it was their first time, I wanted to show them the most famous places. We went to Santa Monica and Venice Beach. We walked so much in the street, and my husband, who loves Los Angeles as much as I do, told me, ‘Okay, please, we won’t go back to France. We stay here.’ So yes, we will love L.A. so much. I brought them to the studio with me to watch me play with my friends from ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’ So it was magic.” Note: The post Elsa Esnoult Details Return To ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ As Fanny Greyson – EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW first appeared on Soap Opera Network. 5. Months after it was revealed that she had dropped to recurring status at “Days of our Lives,” actress Elia Cantu announced on Wednesday that she has officially exited the daytime drama series as Jada Hunter. “As I say goodbye to ‘Days of our Lives,’ I’m excited and looking forward to the next chapter,” said Cantu. “Leaving ‘DAYS’ is bittersweet, but I step away full of gratitude and joy for what’s ahead.” “Jada Louise Hunter. It’s been an honor. She is bold, layered, and I’ll forever cherish bringing her to life,” continued the actress, speaking about her character, whom she portrayed for the last four years, having begun her run in 2022. “She remains a staple in Salem, and I’ll carry everything she taught me as I go. Jada, you will always be my girl.” The character is the daughter of the legacy character Marcus Hunter, played by the late Richard Biggs from 1987-1992. In March, when word broke that Cantu and co-star Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) were no longer on contract, a spokesperson for the show noted, “We never comment on actor contract status, but rest assured, Rafe and Jada are still in Salem.” The change in their status wasn’t cause for concern at the time, as a number of cast members were not under contract but involved in hot storylines, including Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady) and Casey Moss (JJ Deveraux). Though the situation may have since changed for Cantu, there’s no indication at present that Gering will also be exiting the show. Cantu’s exit from the show reportedly won’t be felt until at least spring 2027, as the daytime drama series tapes episodes roughly 10 months before they air on Peacock. “To the cast & crew – Thank you for your hard work and long hours. What a journey it has been,” said Cantu, continuing her statement on social media. “To the ‘DAYS’ fans – Thank you. You are incredibly supportive, caring, and dedicated. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. There’s more to come, and I hope you’ll come along with me for what’s next. Love, Elia Cantu.” On Instagram, Cantu shared a short video of her taking her final bow with the caption, “Godspeed” and a “heart’ emoji. Co-star Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez) responded to Cantu's announcement, saying in the comments, "I am so lucky to have shared the stage with you in so many wonderful scenes. You are a light & so incredibly talented. Can’t wait to see what magic comes your way." Before joining "Days of our Lives" as a series regular, Cantu made appearances in such shows as "Criminal Minds," "Black-ish," "Lucifer," "This is Us," "Lethal Weapon," "A Black Lady Sketch Show," "9-1-1" and "Mom," among others. 6. When I went in 2022, the Port Charles package cost $ 1,200 per person. Now it is $2,500 in 2026, just four years later. I've seen inflation, but that's not what this is. That's price gouging, knowing GH fans will pay it anyway.
  7. Looked into it. As long as the site is legit, we can whitelist the domain, thereby allowing external embeds, though without the need for HTML. It doesn't look the best, but it's definitely an improvement from when the new software was first introduced last fall on the SON Community. Click the link icon in your post editor and paste the appropriate url for the site that has the video, in this case: https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/video/a-look-at-beyond-the-gates-crossover-episodes/ If the URL is whitelisted in our system, you'll see this globe icon next to the URL: You can edit the video's height and width by clicking the blue arrow icon. It auto-adjusts otherwise. If there is a URL that should be whitelisted in our system and isn't already, please let me know.
  8. I was hesitant about keeping the confused icon, but I'll leave it for now since it's a neutral one, and there are cases where it might be necessary. Otherwise, happy people are responding well to these new features.
  9. Glad I was able to find a solution for you.
  10. The new account is maintained directly by the show, while the other is maintained by CBS. Similar to the Y&R/DAYS YouTube channels, one is maintained directly by the shows, while the other, which is older and has far more followers, is maintained by the network/streamer. Only General Hospital and Beyond the Gates have their socials handled exclusively by their network, as they are both network-owned. The B&B/DAYS/Y&R split is due to the ability to use content on their owned socials, since the network/streamer doesn't get involved in that kind of stuff - they just post clips from episodes already aired, if that.
  11. Late Sunday/early Monday, the Redis system failed, and I had to revert to the standard MySQL method for handling post-injections. This method has always been used in the SON Community until I started looking into ways to fix the login/logout and max_connections (error 500) problems. The Redis failure is likely what caused the double posts during the aforementioned time. Otherwise, like with my post above, you just have to wait a few more seconds for it to publish. So far, no glitches or errors. Just need to allow the database to process posts.
  12. Not sure why anyone would feel the need to leave the SON Community, but if they choose to, that's their choice. Overall, as of this writing, nothing has really changed except that I created individual show forums for the current soaps and moved their show-specific threads into their designated forums. Anything proposed for the future can and will change, depending on feedback. I'm not opposed to other thoughts and ideas. Everything new or different is complicated. You move into a new apartment complex, it's a complicated process because you have to adjust not just to a new apartment, but the overall setup of the community, between neighbors, amenities, parking space (if available), etc. It takes time to adjust to any change. The original post took a while to write, and while all the explaining might seem complicated, it's actually very easy once you start adapting to it. The capabilities of this forum weren't available 25 years ago, or even a year ago. The updated software introduced these features, and it would be ridiculous not to use all the available tools to make this place better than it ever was. When the day we honor our 25th anniversary comes, and the site still looks and feels like it's from 2001, I'd consider myself a failure. After dealing with all the issues people brought to my attention over the last couple of weeks, they have now been fixed. Any lingering issues are browser-based from the client side, particularly since the problem did not occur in other browsers, with a few exceptions, and does not affect all users of the referenced browser(s). I did see people talking about Microsoft Edge being affected, but they didn't seem to have the issue with Chrome. Either way, unless I'm told of a current issue with login/logout or max_connections (error 500), and the poster has done the advised clearing of their cache/cookies (and I do mean clearing entirely), only then will I consider looking into the issue again. As I said in my original post, I have to look at things holistically. Sure, the soaps can suck, and fans don't want to watch, but I'm not going to allow the SON Community to go the way of the Soap Opera Digest print magazine. Complacency is just one of the reasons it went away. It wasn't just that print was dying. Similarly, over the 25 years since the SON Community started, we now also compete for attention with posters on other platforms discussing their favorite shows, including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok and YouTube, etc. We need to adjust to compete just like any other platform or service. I honestly did not remember this. But I had been looking into it, and since you brought it up, I was able to finally find the solution. I do recall we had the feature in place at one point in an older version of the software, but it was panned by users for misuse. In bringing it back, I removed all the negative options and have been manually adjusting poster accounts that had/have negative "reputation" points. That happens sometimes. While cleaning up the Discuss The Soaps forum by moving topics into their respective show forums, I found a few topics that received little to no response, and some posts from posters I never knew we even had. I've actually seen a lot of veterans returning to the SON Community over the last couple of days, and I feel it's been the most functional during that time. This is likely due to the login/logout issue and the max_connections (error 500) being resolved. We'll see. The welcome threads were not created for active discussions or as a catch-all. They were created for the simple purpose of introducing the individual show forum for each respective show. As for the monthly discussion threads, particularly the BTG and GH discussions, I've found that many people don't post in them because they get lost and can't keep up with what's being discussed, including which episodes. If there are roughly 20 episodes per month for each soap, and you are just watching the first or fifth episode, and the monthly discussion is at episode 18, you are left with little to discuss because most of it has already been touched upon. I've seen people get annoyed with others who are discussing matters that happened days ago in an earlier episode, immediately discouraging that person from commenting. While not necessarily in response to you directly, I know that a daily (or weekly) thread could see five or fewer comments per post, but by not attempting to grow the place, I'd, again, consider that a failure. I want to see that when this place turns 25 in a few months, it is a thriving community, not one that should have been put out of its pasture years ago. To my point, there's a forum that was unofficially spun off from SON over a decade ago, and I was shocked to see how much the posting activity had dropped. To your earlier point, in their case, I presume it's probably more closely tied to the lack of interest in the primary show that posters would most often talk about. Thank you. I definitely see how much you and others care about this place, and that is why I keep it as up to date as possible. Using my analogies again, if I left this place as is, it would wither and die with a dead engine and dust/dirt/grime all over the place.
