Jiggs was a big Marlena/DH (and J/M) fan who use to post at DAYSCofferooms before the gang (including me, Nubia, etc...) moved to DAYSRefugees (for disgruntled DAYS fans).

I remember her posting that from back in 2001 (either at DAYSRefugees or Coffeerooms), very accurate desctiption of Mr. L's talent.

And people think JER was bad. This is why I have to remind them of the October 1999-April 2002 era.

Those years were truly some of the worst in DAYS' history. The crap that JER fed us before he left wasn't as bad as Langan.

I still think Higley was worse but I agree Langan was worse then the most recent JER run. Langan's days had memorable moments. The baby switch was pretty good and the first 6 months of 2001 were really good with the coronation and Victor/Kate, Stefano's exit and the Salem bombings, etc. The last half of 2001 was deplorable and most of 2000 was boring too. I mean did he really have to keep the Gina/brain chip crap going. Plus, he wrote out Vivian . I hated his run but he had some great moments, more then Higley did I guess but it doesn't make it any better.

One thing about Langan-when he was around at least we didn't have the SFX Wyman treats us too everyday .

Tom Langan is a fabulous producer. He knows how to run a studio, get a beautiful show on air, and deal with people.

As a writer? Trainwreck.

He's one of those who are wonderful in a production and business sense, but clearly NOT in a creative sense.

I wish he was hired back to replace Steve Wyman. Steve has no idea what the heck he's doing, and never has.

I loved Langan's gothic production back in the mid 90's, but maybe that was influenced by Reilly's writing? Because when it got to the late 90's and early 2000's, the production started to become brighter.

As for Wyman, that guy needs to be demoted back to director. Promote Roy B. Steinberg and give him a shot, or bring back one of the producers who worked their way up in the 80's and early 90's (Becky Greenlaw, Shelly Curtis, Francesca James).

Sorry, I don't think he was any better as a producer than a writer.

It was him who made the infamous claim that supercouples should be taken to the top a building and thrown off. It was him who presided over the departures of Shaughnessy, Evans, Reckell, Pease, Ashford, Chappell & Sabatino all in the space of 2 years. It was him who made the disastrous decision to SORAS the teens and make them the focal point of the show in 99/00 (that was producer, not a writer's decision). It was a producer's decision to fire a 3-time Emmy winner in Lorraine Broderick and appoint himself headwriter. These are not the decisions of a man with wonderful business sense. He was obsessed with short-term gimmicks and pandering to the younger market. The show lost nearly HALF of its viewership during the 12 years he was executive producer.

There's a reason no soap has been interested in him since Corday got rid of him.

Kinda true. He did direct The Affair, which was no only well written (*cough*Sheri*cough) but visually breathtaking.
