I'm shocked there are people who have never seen it AT LEAST in passing that summer. Jesus, all I remember was everyone at school talking about it that fall, in addition to their summer break. And I was only entering the 6th grade!

Deidre was just phenomenal. That's the year the Emmys proved what utter crap they are.

The entire show got shut for acting noms as well. I, too, think that Deidre was robbed. What shows did she submit?

And WORD to McKenzie Westmore not being able to pull off a possessed Sheridan. Anything that remotely tries to be serious-gothic or sci-fi on PASSIONS will be taken as camp, because the show set the standard for that very early on. And once a show attempts to reinvent itself, it doesdn't attain the audience it desires AND loses the core audience. Sci-Fi didn't take PASSIONS reruns off their schedule for nothing!

PASSIONS should have been way more darker and intense than it was or is today. That's if Jimmy Reilly was serious about being the second coming of Dan Curtis.

The storyline was amazing. This and Aremid and Maison Blanche are probably my top three favorite storylines ever. The feel around Salem was just amazing. Like during parts of the SSK, I could feel the eerieness and creepiness in the air around the town. I really had no idea who the Desecrator was. I remember thinking it was Celeste. No one would ever think of Marlena then. It actually was a huge shock. Like the SSK, you always wanted to know WHY and WHAT'S NEXT. The suspense and the intrigue and the drama. It was just awesome. There won't be a story like that on daytime again. Not with all of the spoilers nowadays.

Love or Hate Deidre Hall there is no denying she was amazing during the possession.

She always does amazing work whenever she's truly given a chance at it. Watching Possession is the kind of thing that makes you think "WHY are they taking her offscreen for two months?"

Ooh, thanks for all the clips, Kenny! I got CHILLS watching the end of the possession, first when John realized that was a real angel and second, when John declared that it was all over and the heavens could rejoice. What an amazing storyline!

P.S. I don't see how "Passions" copied that "Days" music, lol. THe "Days" one was eery and truly disturbing. THe "Tabitha" music is just like, guess what, this is a supernatural story coming up. But not one that will creep you out.

I agree JSF-the music was not the same. It is a little more campy on Passions for me. Days was so damn creepy and scary at times.

They really should release at least the posessions on DVD. I would love Buried Alive. Maison Blanche, Aremind, Paris, and some Kristen stuff too but I would perfectly happy with the Posesssion.

I loved those COD clips. COD is another story I want on DVD. One of the most memorable Days stories of all time. I love that story and that scene with Hope above acid was one of the best tearjerkers on Days ever. That scene was one of Kristian Alfonso's best moments-I loved it.

Whenever I see Hope in the cage, I curse Reilly for ever bringing her back. If ever a death should have been final, one as big as this one was, should have been. I felt the same about Roman in '84, of course. These were two big event deaths that brought people together and propelled so much story. I don't really regret having either character come back when they did, but look at the m,ess we have now

All-in-all, though, this is definitely my favorite Bo/Hope moment and I wish they would flash to it more often.

I just watched a ton of clips from the Possession storyline thanks to Pest Spray. Greatly appreciated! Of course this is just bits and pieces of the story, but it all seems so amazing. Why can't Days have stories like this nowdays, dammit. The clips revealed a truly meaningful, intense story and now I have a much better idea of this great story that you all talk about. I won't deny it though, some of those clips were kind of freaky. Marlena was just so messed up.

It most certainly was. THAT'S what I expected when Reilly came back the last time. I was shitting myself with the anticipation of fantastic stuff like THIS all over again. I thought, "Yes! MY SHOW IS BACK!" Pffft. What a letdown.

Days was so [!@#$%^&*] good in the 90's. So, so, so... SO wonderful. And not just for a few months at a time. The show was consistenly kickass and amazing for an entire 6 - 7 year span, nonstop. It was relentlessly good! The ratings were huge. I remember reading that when all other soaps ratings tanked during the OJ Simpson drama, Days of Our Lives was the only soap that actually managed to GAIN viewers. That's something to brag about. It was just so good. Like a completely different show than it is now. It'll never be that good again. *sigh*

The Possession story was loved and hated, but people WATCHED. With John & Marlena center written by JER in the 90s GAINED viewers during OJ trial, and their reunion stuff almost beat Y&R in the ratings!

I agree with Kieth about Roman and Hope but the way they were brought back was just as good as their deaths. I mean Hope returning at Maison Blanche was so great and all the mystery surrounding it is what made it one of my favorite stories.

Someone should start a classic JER thread where we can all reminisce about all this and post clips and the like=that could be fun.
