I'd love 30 minute soaps - I keep waiting for those (or even 15 minute soaps) - although I do hope Y&R can surprise me and turn around.

I just read that interview and there are no words.

The level of delusion...I think Josh channels Phyllis when writing.

And that LA Noir tag he keeps throwing out -LA yes Noir no.

Haha, I knew it.

At some point he'll mess up and pick up on some fake crap in the show's wiki (like Rick Daros being Cole's father) and it won't even matter because his writing is so bad anyway.

For my own sanity I should ignore this interview, but anyway, a breakdown of Joshie's comments.

“I wanted to do a big suspense story with Sharon and Nick at the center of it."

OK that's a choice, rather than a love story or family story.

“I was [thinking]. ‘I’d love to take it outside of Genoa City.’

Why? The show is set in GC. Just so what little money there is could be spent on sets that can't be used again? Or will the bar, like the Cane train, somehow come to town also?

And I started thinking, ‘L.A. noir,’ [that] I wanted to do like an L.A. noir. So then I thought, ‘Well, is this a femme fatale that Nick’s been involved with?

Femme Fatale is pretty intrinsic to Film Noir. So at the first step, Josh admits there isn't one   of the fundamentals of that genre, but still calls it noir.

And I said, ‘No, it needs to be tied to the history.’ So I looked into the history, and there was Matt Clark, the great nemesis he was, and as is always the case, just because he’s dead doesn’t mean he has to be dead!”

Just ignore a death because it suits the plot despite once again defying logic. He already did it with Diane. And we're meant to accept it. At this point he can make up anything to tell a story. Such integrity and respect for storytelling.

And he rambles on ...

Did meeting Noah bring back all his anger and all the past, and he set THIS TRAIN WRECK OF A STORY  in motion because of that?’”

There you have it -from the horse's mouth.

While both Sharon and Nick will go up against Matt, “Really, the protagonist/antagonist battle is coming down to Nick and Matt,” the scribe teases.

Of course, it comes down to a man to man conflict as Nick protects Sharon and his son.

It becomes a nightmare, not just for Nick and Sharon, but to the whole Newman family.”

And the viewers.

FIRE JOSH!

Does the production company not read these interviews of the head writers and question their own decisions to keep them in power? That's where I am at nowadays. The fact that these people employ these morons boggles my mind.

JG: "I wanted to do a big suspense story with Sharon and Nick at the center of it."

Again?  I thought that tired mess with Cameron sufficed!

I think this whole storyline is stupid.  Everyone saw Matt die, but as we know no one actually dies on daytime.  If they were going to bring RH in they should have made him a different character all together.

I guess the only  upside to Josh's 'deaths don't mean they're dead' policy is that Cole, Chance and Damian can all make a comeback.

Three deaths that happened within weeks of each other for no reason.
