All Anita did was say she called a choreography and Sharon flew off the handle talking about twerking and hanging from the ceiling. I don't think Anita was being controlling and she was right to remove herself from the concert.

If Martin is anything like his Mom and Auntie then he's about to lay hands on Kenny.

It's about respect! They wanna be treated as equals. If Anita had called them and asked for their input before her announcement, then maybe one of them would have agreed. But when you continue to overlook people, you are for sure asking for trouble.

And this is why Nicole is my favorite. Rich and privileged, but still treat everyone the same.

Love that we are outside again filming, but they need to do better with the continuity.  There are no dead trees in the DMV in July.  Everything is green and in full bloom.  This is where filming things months in advance leads to continuity errors.

I think it's easy to dismiss them as bitter and miserable, but listen to them. Sharon and Tracy don't just want to be in the background anymore; they want to be involved in the creative process. Anita has it all, and you can't be selfless for one night? I don't like that. She only cares about herself and her family.

-- Yeah, I had a hard time dealing with Anita in these scenes. She still wants control, to be in charge, and to make the major decisions. She presents changes to Tracy and Sharon and thinks that's enough while AGAIN voicing that ridiculous "Articulettes Strong" line.

-- This is one reunion concert, right? Wouldn't people expect to see a blast from the past and not "updated arrangements and new choreography"? When I want Motown, I want MOTOWN, not some new version of it -- especially from women their age. What the hell is Anita thinking?

BTG is an hour show so there should be a 2nd family that isn't related to the Duprees.

-- Yep. That becomes more obvious every week.

It's funny hearing Samantha talk about stranger danger when her brother just did what he did with Kenny.

-- That didn't work for me. So now BOTH of their kids are completely clueless about hanging with adults??? What is going on??? It doesn't make sense. Samantha is supposed to be very social and have a ton of friends, yet she's meeting some older dude in the park to help him work his phone???

-- I still don't understand why Kenny is out and about at all. I don't understand why he wouldn't be afraid of being killed by the scary mobsters in town. Is Kenny an idiot, too?

The constant meet ups/ dates at the same venues are getting repetitive.

I get the concept of Orpheys but having all the characters frequent the place is too much. They need a slightly  more upmarket place where richer characters would go and the likes of Ashley would also feel comfortable.

If it means getting location shooting, I don't care about stuff like that. I didn't even think of that when watching it, I was just so excited to see them get outside of the studio. That scene was so much more impactful than if Martin walked in on them sitting at a table at Orphey Gene's.

Finally watched and the ending was a good Friday cliffhanger. I do LOVE that we have outdoor shots, but like someone else said, it's a little LOL that all the trees are without leaves in the middle of July. But, if you're doing a scene in the park and filming scenes months in advance, I guess you take what you can get haha.

I am having a difficult time connecting with Anita. She wants control, and they're playing it like maybe she doesn't realize that's how she's coming off. These women are the same age as you and probably have grandchildren of their own, and you want them to follow your lead because you know what's best. I find it all unfair.

When it comes to the choreography, I see both sides. You're right, when you go to a concert, that's the fun part, doing all those old dance moves, but at the same time, there's nothing wrong with making things fresh and new. I doubt their target demo is looking for a Beyoncé show, though, LMAO.

On the one hand, I really appreciate that they are twisting up the archetype by not making Anita the perfect, shining matriarch. I like that she's so complex. On the other hand, she's aggravating the heck out of me because I feel so bad for Sharon and Tracy. I wish she would just step back a bit and let them shine. Hopefully, that's what will happen in the end. If it doesn't, and there's a repeat of history, then wow, that's more than a little twist to the norm for this kind of character.

I think refreshing things are usually fine when you consistently tour and allows things not to go stale for both the artists and the audience... but I agree. If you're having a one-off reunion concert after 30? 40? years it's pure nostalgia bait.

Funny thing is Beyonce is the real world celebrity that’s been most often mentioned in dialogue on this show. I’m just about waiting for an episode where some characters attend a tour stop on the Cowboy Carter tour.

I’m really rooting for Brandon Claybon to get more comfortable and improve, but some of his scenes this week were hard to watch, especially his anxious scenes with Tyrell and Samantha. The scene where he bent down to hug them and ended up with his head awkwardly nestled between them was campy in the worst way. I feel bad for him, honestly.

The face-off between Nicole and Leslie had some great tension, and I love that they give Nicole a backbone instead of making her a prissy pushover. She gave as good as she got against a very smug opponent. Still, Leslie is veering into Passions villain territory. Too much mustache-twirling and smirking for me.

I’m glad they’re leaning into making Kat more of an out-and-out villain because that fits very much into Colby Muhammad’s wheelhouse.

Same. Cliffhanger aside (and who knows she might not know him and he's acting like a random in the park. I guess we will see on Monday), but that still seems stupid to me. Even post-covid outside of hospitality jobs where you have to show people how things work like internet connection. Ty I can see cuz he's so bookwormish and keeps to himself. But Samantha I expect better because she's so outgoing.

Same. DD's inflection and look on the word DIRTY then dress is still living rent free in my head. Wiped the smirk right off of SilkPress's face...and TMG did such a great job of showing how the words hit with a subtleness in her eyes. She tried to recover, but you can see that SilkPress started to visually stumble after that direct hit.

I totally agree.  When I watch Motown, I don't want one step or lyrics to change.  You can't improve on perfection!

I thought I added that I totally agree!  Motown should never be touched as you can't improve on perfection.

See I actually am on Anita's side here. Some of the bands from this era are doing the tour circuit and some of them (Mary Jane Girls/Expose) look ridiculous trying to recreate what they did in the 80s as women in their 60s. It would be one thing if The Articulettes came from the Motown era with minimal choreography but I don't think anybody would expect them to be doing that in their 60s.

Where Anita went wrong is that she already had someone lined up and you could tell her mind was made up. All of this should've been discussed up front and they could've decided together. I definitely see why the women thought she was taking control. I get it's her money but she should be including them in these decisions so they feel like a real part of the process.
