They really should have promoted this as "Binge BTG" with lots of hype.  There should be promos on TV and online.

Remember during the COVID break summer 2020, B&B and Y&R aired repeats and they promoted it a lot.  They know how to do this, if they choose to.

Sunset Beach had a week of repeats to do some retooling . Not sure of the dates.

I guess this a money saving move as much as anything else. Viewing levels are probably way down that week.

It would be good that instead of random repeats they actually showed some themed clip episodes

eg Mon Dani talks to Pamela and they show some major scenes in her story. It could actually add to character depth as Dani looks back and does some soul searching.Tues could be the Martin story Wed Ted/Nicole etc

That would make it more of an event rather than just a cheap ass move that annoys viewers.

I'm frustrated this wasn't a separate topic since I haven't watched Thursday yet and don't want to be spoiled. Frankly now I wish I had banked more episodes now that there's a week off. What a terrible precedent. I hope this doesn't become a thing where they take a week here and there to save money. GH does this but at least it's spread out through the year one episode at a time.

This is bad timing considering they just made that EW list.

Y'all are doing what I usually do. Overthinking.

I'll just go ahead and say it. The show will be airing a week of repeats next week, so tomorrow will be your last original episode for June to discuss.

Wow that sucks and is really dumb. They just had pre emotions ruin momentum so now they do it themselves 🤦🏽‍♂️

I missed part of this thread.

They are showing a week of repeats when and where?

All next week on CBS.

New episodes return on July 7th.

As for a week of repeats, they're going to catch hell for this. The show has already been pre-empted so much that people are going to be naturally upset. The story is also hot and it's not common for this to happen with a soap.

This is definitely strange- unless they are trying to get summer viewers (teens) to invest into the show more or they are doing it as a money saving move.  The Friday, June 27th, episode better end with a good cliffhanger to get viewers to return on Monday, July 7th.

For selfish reasons I'm okay with 1 week off, because again... I have so much to catch up to already... but otherwise this is not a good idea. Any type of momentum in viewership will be derailed. The show can't afford to do experiments with ratings right now. In this day and age of fast entertainment... 1 whole week off when you are just starting is counter-productive to commercial success. The show has many issues already - stories need improving, characters need cleaning up, etc. We don't need more.

Just my two cents. Thank you @Errol for giving us a heads up and informing us. I can plan ahead and catch up to the episodes I have to watch next week.

Honestly I'm so behind with IRL stuff vs. the show that a week off sounds like just what I need to play catch-up lol.

What is the reason they are airing repeat episodes next week??

Errol already stated he's been trying to gauge a reason with the PR team, and one was not given to him, hence why he was hoping to wait for today to announce it.

It's already been announced on FB.  I just saw it a few minutes ago.  The reason stated is the 4th of July holiday.  Seem silly to me, but that's what CBS says.

I'm sorry. What? I fail to see how the network airing reruns next week is considered a spoiler.

As I said, I only specified what I was talking about earlier because people were coming up with outlandish scenarios and I wanted to nip it in the bud quickly. Had that not been the case, there would have been a thread/article posted to the message boards.

GH airing reruns is a contractual thing ABC started in 2009 as part of a deal with the WGA to help reduce costs for All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital. An entire week of reruns for any soap is unprecedented, outside of matters that can't be controlled, such as Covid.
