It could mean nothing, but if he's being phased out I can't say he'll be a huge loss. Though Josh Kelly is a likable enough presence, Cody has been a mess of a character since day one. Of course, there are a ton of people I'd have chosen to write out before him.

GH Sneak: Tracy's Unsure About Her Agreement with Drew
Tracy asks Brook Lynn if she has spoken with Gio yet.  Brook Lynn says not yet – there's so much she wants to say to him, but she's trying to give him some space.  Tracy tells Brook Lynn to have faith that Gio will come to her when he's ready.

Then Brook Lynn asks if Tracy was looking for her.  Tracy says yes and that she wants to run something by Brook Lynn. 

Brook Lynn snarks: "Uh-oh. Should I get a lawyer?  Are we hiding a body?" Tracy: "Not yet."

Then Tracy tells Brook Lynn that she received an offer from Drew and she has agreed to his terms, and now Tracy needs to decide if she should actually go through with it.

Or they're dumping him slow, like most times anyone is dropped to recurring on a soap opera. Assuming the best of this show at all times is a fool's game.

That does seem more likely. GH tends to float recurring actors around for years but the chance of him having any real purpose is probably gone. A shame, as I do think he made Cody work in spite of many poor and confusing choices. It's not as if the canvas is flooded with male talent either so I am not even sure who else would take his spot. We're not going to get much more out of Joss' WSB cohort or Brennan, and Isaiah and Marco will suffer from what anyone who isn't white suffers from on the canvas (doubled by Marco being gay).

The acting is actually pretty bad, lol. JK could only help that role, that guy is one of the worst actors on the show.

I do think it's a waste to get rid of Cody, whose promise they keep squandering at every turn. But I'm not terribly surprised if so.

I've heard that but mostly I see people tearing apart the writing and lack of purpose of the character or story he's in.

I'm surprised partly because they have stuck with him for this long but maybe they're in a budget crunch.

I think Josh Kelly is a good actor, and I think he's done good work on a show that's thrown him all over the place.

For me, a question is: will BTG make the Derek character into  dark/possessive/stalkerish, or do they want him to be fun/charismatic?  If they want dark, then I don't know. But if they want fun charisma, then yes Josh Kelly.
