I've watched his work in the past, decent actor but I am not sure if he would be my choice for a recast. The actors don't check the same boxes IMO. I'm going be positive, and give him a chance though.

I think that's silly if true cause MJ is popular in the role and they should have gauged fan reaction then see if a recast was needed.

We must remember that we don't know why the show recast the role, particularly before the show debuted. There's been no indication in either direction whether it was the show's decision or if the actor requested to leave. Per Daphnée Duplaix in her Instagram Live with Trisha Mann-Grant, the cast was informed via an email on a Sunday of the casting change. When reaching out to Maurice, she said he declined to explain at an event in Atlanta or even the Instagram Live itself.

Until production or Johnson comes out and says the reason, we can only speculate.

MJ always gave 90s NBC daytime to me so no great loss. He certainly wasn't impressing me much in those scenes with Daphnee where they both finally got something to do.
