Who knows? It could've been any number of things. The Julian story, while I didn't love it, had not gone off the rails by then. The dagger/murder attempt thing (designed to write him out) didn't happen til 2016 IIRC after Ron was gone.

@Errol or @janea4old Does this mean that DAYS is going to employ non-WGA headwriters?

So, now Y&R, B&B, and DAYS are all written by non-union scribes?  That's pretty wild a year after the strike.  It seems like a step backward for collective bargaining.  Personally, I'm more offended by that, than whatever RonC has done for the past few years.

Thanks for some of the background info, Jason!

Wow! This is pretty shocking......not that Carlivati was fired (which is to be expected whenever there's a new EP), but that his replacements are Cwikly and Ford.  I enjoyed most of Cwikly's (and Brash's) tenure was HW and thought they got the shaft when Higley replaced them.  Glad to see Paula get another chance.  Ford has been with DAYS for so long, approximately 29 (non consecutive) years in total, working at basically every writing position except for HW, until now.  I hope Janet, Paula and Jeanne will be able to work together to create a great show.  They've all known each other for decades, so hopefully that's a good sign that they have a great working relationship.

I could see Carlivati joining Y&R, or even going back to GH, as a breakdown writer.  I honestly would prefer him as HW over Griffith.

Fi-Core or "scab" does not mean they aren't part of the union. They are still paying members and receive representation. However, they've lost the right to vote in the union elections and are not eligible for awards contention. That doesn't mean the shows themselves can't be nominated for WGA awards, but their HWs can't be part of the nominating/winning team.

So we won't even get to see their work until 2025?

You know what.. I say dump the last few months of episodes and start over again.   The money that has been wasted keeping that talentless hack on the soap for 7 years would be way more then just dumping some of the episodes that were filmed.

CWIKLY/FORD JUST THE SECOND FEMALE DUO TO BE HEAD WRITERS OF "DAYS"...

New head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford are just the second female duo to be head writers of "Days" in its 59-year history, joining the duo of Margaret DePriest and Sheri Anderson, who were the head writers for 632 episodes from April 19, 1982-September 21, 1984.

IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!

This has to be the best news coming out of Days of Our Lives since it was announced A.A. was OUT as co-executive producer. The exit of the "writer" was long overdue. Several years, in fact. April 2025 is when I'll likely come back to viewing this soap, because it's been unwatchable since February 2019, when Sheri Anderson's material was last factored in. Being nine months tape-to-stream is ridiculous and needs to stop.

Last of names I suspect to be dropped in the coming weeks/months: Blake Berris, Jackée Harry, Emily O'Brien, Greg Rikaart & Robert Scott Wilson, and I suspect the Last Blast crew will be returning by the year's end.

He's never going to The Young and the Restless. Just know that. It's not happening.

I still contend he's going to Y&R.  Someone above said Ron isn't "friends" with Steve Kent, but Steve ran both Y&R and Days for Sony for many years and clearly had a say in Ron's tenure on the show. Steve just joined YR as "executive in charge" and already one days writer was hired (Dave Ryan) and Marla Kanelos returned after 12 years.  We know Y&R must improve if they want The Gates to succeed. It's hard to believe they won't oust Griffith.  Execs love Ron because he can write a compelling bible; it's just that his book only has about four chapters that he rotates.  Back from the dead. Wigs, drag, doppelgängers, baby switches.

Given the Days new HW stories start airing in April, when does Days current Peacock contract expire because it's possible Ford and Paula are there to write the end of the show. They have to be cheaper (pay scale) than Ron.  Ford lives in Maryland and has children and as far as I know teaches. She's never been a HW before.

    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.
    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
