I miss Reginald too.

The way Olivia explained the job to Sasha made it sound much easier than I imagine it will be.  It still makes no sense for Olivia to ask Sasha when she works at a hotel that has a five star restaurant, kitchen, and room service workers.  One of those chefs/cooks would probably much more suited for the job.  Whatever.   I am really overthinking Sasha's career path.

It would be interesting to see where the show is going with Sonny.  It's almost comical how everyone turned on him in about a month.  In some ways it reminds of the 90's where most people in town thought Sonny was bad news and acknowledged he was a criminal.

Well, what I think is that Patrick is gonna let Mo continue to be a mobster but he's no longer going to be considered an upstanding citizen. They set him up as this kinda Mobster with a Heart of Gold, to borrow from the Lady of the Night trope, back when Stone & Robin were in love & he cared for & nurtured Stone & Robin & that was a long time ago.

Meanwhile I am considering whether I want to ship Chrome (Corinthos + Jerome) and also if I want to ship Drina (Drew + Nina). Perversely I am thinking of adding both.

Well that was a letdown.  lol. But seriously, that's the second time that the writers (since they started) ended an episode on a good dramatic note, and then the next episode does not immediately pick up from there. It makes me think of when Mal Young was on Y&R with his 'one episode = one day' thing.

Oh so this is the Dex story people keep talking about! I admit that I was meh on playing every beat of him joining the police. I don't even think it's that bad though I don't care about him. But it never occurred to me that the police officers might not like him due to his association with Sonny. I like the 'actions has consequences' of it all so I might not mind that story at all.

OOooooo Blaze's style is rubbing on on Kristina. How cute!!! I did like the bachelorette party for the most part. But of course it gave us fun Lois and Tracy moments. And of course it also gave us that lovely Joss v Kristina moment. I am so happy that continues to grow legs.

I was actually sadden to see the end of Ava and Nina. When I came back to regularly viewing GH, I was in shock to see them as friends since I was watching when MS arrived as Nina. I knew their vicious history. And now....they were FRIENDS??? But clips later and watching MW and CW with each other...I liked it. Even though yes, it was totally implausible. That said...those were some good scenes.

So happy to see Ned. I was literally wondering when the last time we saw him was before he popped up at Chase's bachelor party. And oh, look, Spinelli!!

I totally can see Lois at Deception and having that knowledge. Them NY gals...lol.

Awwwwwwwwwwww

Same.

Which is what they appear to be doing. Or...setting up their exits.

The Jon and Cady statement is too much.

Yeah, I'm sorry they couldn't make it work, but these break-up announcements can be too much. Writing "As people who work in the public eye, it can be difficult to have a private life" is too much for me.

I'm sorry, but we're not talking Taylor and Travis here. I highly doubt that they were mobbed when out in public. And ending by asking for "your kind consideration in this matter"? What does that even mean?

I don't think they owe us any explanation, any details. I just wish these announcements weren't so ridiculous.

It's kind of amusing to me because some of the tweets amount to - these women could be models or running magazines or running art galleries and look at what they're doing instead, they're taking women back to the '50s. All of those careers are also very dated for women, if that's the complaint. That's a genre wide concern and not down to the new/old writers.

I wish people could just say "They don't know what to do with Sasha, she's a flop," instead of trying to spin the choices as misogyny.

Yeah, I think the reality is that they don't know what to do with Sasha and are playing the string with some characters out. I would just write her out immediately, but that's me. And I don't think they're going to reduce Trina to a nanny (she appears to be keeping the job with Ava, and it's inevitable she'll go back to school) but I do like them making the connection with Ace. I remember people howling about her not spending enough time with him, Laura, etc. after the first several weeks following Spencer's death. It's six of one and half a dozen of another.

But really, fanbases aside I don't pay much attention to Soap Twitter period except for the recent hubbub with the creative turnover. What's clear at a glance is there's been a vacuum since DC's heyday (and Jamey's apparent departure - he was always a histrionic, dominant and OTT personality) of people in that sphere all trying to be tastemakers and sound very influential and important on there, and the truth is I have no idea who almost any of them are and I don't care. They all seem really quick to attach themselves to very mediocre couples, actors and stories in the last decade - online used to be a bit better than that IMO - but I guess that's to be expected if your livelihood or sense of self depends on a genre that's been in the doghouse for years (hopefully not for too much longer). Everybody seems to be the one to make a grand pronouncement about The State of GH a month into the writing change, and that's not realistic at this point IMO. I do think it's much improved; I do think it needs to cut and change faster. The question is if they have freedom to do that. And no, I don't think Chris Van Etten is puppetmastering the show from BTS lol. But knowing FV it wouldn't shock me if he tried to keep a pet writer in there for some machinations, because I absolutely do not believe PM was his choice.

Anyway we'll see soon enough.

Maurice was posting on TwiX today. In reply to someone wondering (& worried) if this is an exit for him, ...

About Sasha, misogyny, no, not over this. I simply do not understand why they didn't make her Nina's new assistant at Crimson. She is one who actually likes Nina, who is very short on both friends & friendly acquaintances. It looked obvious to me, a gimme.

I never even thought of Sasha becoming the Q's chef as misogyny lol.   I just thought she didn't have the experience to do the job, but I am not sure she ever had experience to be a model either, so?  I don't ever go on soap twitter though.

I like Sasha more than most on here.  I just think the character has run it's course.  If she ever had a purpose to begin with.  She's not in a romance, she's not part of any family, until yesterday she had no job, she basically just has some friends in town.  It's the perfect time to let her go.  The show *might* want to finish out the Cody story with her, but since nothing has really progressed it would be a great time for Sasha to start over in a new place like she was going to post-Gladys months ago.  She gets a lot of airtime for a character without any real story.

If none of these characters start really dropping in the next six months - Finn, Sasha, Jordan, etc. - then it's about either FV's power base and keeping things static, or some other weird shît. But I think they will.

I just want a man and a story for Lois, and Trina.

Don’t ask some something you’ll never get with a statement like that!

I think the show has struggled with building couples and relationships. So many chem-less or boring pairings still on the canvas.

I also don’t think FV has ever known how to produce romantic or passionate scenes. Not like Wendy Riche and Shelley Curtis did back in the 90’s. I liked when Curtis talked about that a bit in her State of Mind interview with Maurice, because it’s so true.

Hell, even when Sonny and Brenda were breaking up back in the day, the atmosphere, music, dialogue, and the way the scenes were produced had so much passion and grit, you could still feel something even if you weren’t a fan.

You won’t get scenes produced this way in FV’s sterile production method.

No. They need to stop foisting recurring and bit players off on important characters. I like Martin in small doses but it would just be another excuse for Frank to put two ABC stars together and expect everyone to fangurl out.

This is a larger longtime issue with this regime: I don't give a fúck about Yuri who is just the successor to Milo for FV in terms of hot random guys they keep giving jobs and then pretend are suddenly fan favorites. And the new cop instructor is hot but do I consider using him the same as actually finding out a story and character tailored to Lois and (gasp) hiring someone new? No. It's just Frank rifling through the bin of random characters, slapping them together and calling it a pairing or story. I don't care. This started with Laura and Kevin, BTW - Genie insisted on a new man, so Frank just tossed Jon Lindstrom her way because he's on recurring, cheap and well-liked. Now here we are. Hire new people, test for chemistry and stop cheaping out. No, I don't care if it's an ex-soap star. I am not going to get excited seeing "Lois and Tad" together.

    •   I think Darlene works as the 911 dispatch operator.
    • Luke and Darlene. It was mentioned that Luke is also on the police force so we might see him soon. I agree, if we see any scenes between Dana/Leslie and Kat in the coming weeks it will further fuel my babyswitch theory.
    • Yeah, they have my sympathies but this only works as high camp.  I dunno, have her angrily febreeze her room or SOMETHING (ok that's not much better but...)
    • This crap will not age well when we look back. There's one thing to be subtle, but you're taking any emotion out of the storyline and scene when you have a broken character picking up a Febreeze can and reminiscing about it like it meant something.  They gotta get better at this.

Watching this right now, BC mentions that Samantha and Tyrell were initially 6 and 7, but aged up for technical reasons. Also MM initially auditioned for Derek.
    • And now Guiding Light continues... Mike, following a new lead, finds a man in Redding,California, who claims to be Clint Pearson, but Mike is sure he is Spence Jeffers, especially when Pearson threatens Mike if he doesn’t stop the investigation. Mike returns with Ann, who identifies Pearson as Jeffers. Pearson has just married a woman who owns a restaurant with him. Realizing that he can’t deny his identity to Ann, Jeffers tells her that Jimmy died in Alaska over a year ago. Ann is devastated, but Mike feels Jeffers is lying about this too. When they can find no record of Jimmy’s death, Ann’s hope is restored.  Desperate to keep his new wife, Mae, from learning about his shady past, Jeffers comes to Springfield and offers Ann “the truth” about Jimmy in exchange for a quick divorce and no bigamy charges. When Ann assumes that this means’ Jimmy is alive. Jeffers tells her no, but he didn’t report the boy’s death because they were fishing in a remote area and there was no one around for days after the accident. Mike and Leslie decide to plan for a child of their own. When Mike tells Leslie he’s up for the post of County Commissioner and he wants to take her on an exotic vacation, she delightedly informs him that she’s the happiest and luckiest woman in the world, because she belongs to him! Later, while Leslie is out, Jeffers arrives at the Bauers’, drunk. Ann arrives, and Spence tries to bribe her to drop the bigamy charge. Mike and Jeffers fight, and Mike is knocked out. Scared and cornered, Jeffers charges out, and as he speeds out of the driveway, Ann hears a terrible scream. Leaving Mike, still unconscious, Ann finds that Leslie has been struck down by Jeffers’s car, and Jeffers has disappeared. Ann summons an ambulance for Mike and Leslie. Mike, regaining consciousness, is told about his wife. The Bauer family and friends gather to pray while Leslie is in surgery. When she finally comes out of the anesthesia, Mike is allowed in to see her. She tells him again of her love for him and for her son, Freddy (by Ed Bauer, her first husband). Not more than a few seconds after Mike leaves her side, Leslie’s heart stops beating. Dr. Joe Werner tries frantically for over twenty minutes to revive her, but, as he and Ed knew from the first, nothing could have saved Leslie. On the day of the funeral—ironically, also the day of their anniversary—Mike receives a package by messenger: a card from Leslie, reading “Happy Anniversary, Darling,’ and the gift, a watch engraved “Love Always, Leslie 6-18-76.” Mike then realizes that he hadn’t even bought a gift for her. When, as they are to leave for Leslie’s funeral,Barbara tells Holly she doesn’t want to go with Peggy and Roger, Holly angrily attacks her mother for using Leslie’s funeral as another excuse to show her hatred of Roger. As Holly accuses her of selfishness in not accepting the situation, as everyone else has, Barbara begins to see she is ruining her own life and her marriage with her self-pity and blind bitterness. Barbara swallows her pride and apologizes to Roger. A few days later, Mike reinvolves himself in the search for Jeffers and Jimmy. Mike informs Ann of a possible lead, a place called Hagen’s Lane, and when Ann disappears the following day, Mike suspects she’s gone there herself and follows her. Ann finds Jeffers there, drunk and in possession of a shotgun. When Mike arrives, Jeffers shoots him in the leg and prepares to escape to Canada after dark. During the waiting hours Mike appeals to Jeffers’s conscience. He assures Jeffers he knows that the killing he was involved  in Alaska was an accident, as was Leslie’s death. Seeing Jeffers wavering between fright and remorse, Mike describes what lies ahead for Jeffers: a life of running, more mistakes, more regrets. Mike promises that Jeffers will get a fair trial if he turns himself in. He tells him he is a good man with rotten luck. Jeffers cannot believe Mike is doing this; after all, he must be bitter about Leslie. Mike doesn’t deny his bitterness, but explains that for his wife’s sake he must help Jeffers pay his debt to society. The man in Alaska was twenty-three years old; Leslie was twentyseven. They are dead, their chance at life gone, but no one can help them now. Jeffers will lose ten years or so of his life in prison, but he must do it. Jeffers weakens. He slumps over a table, crying, “I’m so tired of running.” He then admits that Jimmy is alive and living with relatives and, already showing his penitence, helps Mike to the car. Tim makes a last-ditch attempt to win Rita back and, failing, goes out to get drunk. He later shows up again, asking her help in sobering up, as he’s been called back to Cedars for an emergency. Infuriated by Tim’s late arrival, Steve threatens to fire him. Realizing |that it’s her fault, Rita asks Ed to reconsider, not to harm Tim’s career because of her. Ed takes this into consideration and gives Tim until September to prove he’s worthy of the senior residency. Pam ‘Chandler, who became infatuated with Tim after he saved her and her daughter Samantha when Pam developed toxemia late in her pregnancy, has come to realize that Tim doesn’t see her that way. She informs Peggy that David, Samantha’s father, has written her and she’s leaving Springfield to live near him. There may be a chance for a marriage after all. Roger is upset that his new family is living in cramped quarters because he’s obligated to pay Holly back a loan she made to save his skin last year. Roger | calls on Rita and reminds her that she promised him a share of her inheritance from her rich employer inTexas. Rita claims she can’t give him anything now-her mother is ill and medical expenses are mounting. Mrs. Stapleton is suffering from frequent fainting spells, and Ed is treating her. Bert plans a joint birthday party for Ed and Christina, hoping to get Ed and Holly together to talk. Just as they do, as he blames himself for neglecting her and she regrets ever becoming involved with Roger, Ed is summoned to Rita’s home. Her mother has passed out again. Holly now realizes she wants to stop the divorce, but won’t do it without Ed’s approval. She leaves a message with the answering service to have him call. Rita, knowing the divorce is almost final, steps up her involvement with Ed and Freddy, and when the service calls Ed at her house, she “forgets” to tell him. From Bert Ed learns that Holly has been trying to reach him, and he arranges to talk to her the next day at work (she’s now Steven Jackon’s secretary), but Mrs.Stapleton becomes critical and ed is in surgery all morning. When Mike later stops by to inform Holly the divorce has gone through she maintains her composure until he is gone, then breaks down in tears, sobbing, “No! No!” Ed later learns from Rita that Holly’s call came to her, but, she explains, she forgot in the worry over her mother. When Ed tells Holly of Rita’s “oversight,” she doesn’t tell him why she was trying to reach him. Rita now volunteers to help Ed study for his neurosurgery medical board. Her assistance is helpful, and he’s grateful. Holly is hurt at seeing how cleverly Rita is insinuating herself into Ed’s life. Tim, having buckled down and proven himself, wins the senior residency, and takes Rita’s younger sister, Evie, to dinner to celebrate. More to come...
    • I wondering why she went back there too. I wish Dani hadn't interrupted she and Nicole. Nicole seemed empathetic towards Eva for a second.
    • I felt so sorry for the actress...  What was her motivation? I usually like a good dream/fantasy sequence, but so far am not too impressed with any BTG has had...
    • Amen.   LMAO!!! All I take from that...and the NEXT WEEK promo from Friday...is that they will probably FINALLY reveal who it is this week.    THIS.
    • Oh and everyone just accepts Leslie the scamming liar's DNA test? Why is no on pressing for Ted to get his own. Why are they not questioning that Leslie could have tested Eva against herself?
