Note: "BTG" will be the official acronym used for "Beyond The Gates" on the SON Community. Posts/threads created should always start with "BTG:" going forward.

For reference, the current soap acronyms are "B&B" (The Bold and the Beautiful), "DAYS" (Days of our Lives"), "GH" (General Hospital") and "Y&R" (The Young and the Restless). "ALL" is for all shows, while "AMC" is for All My Children.

Also, #BeyondTheGates is the official hashtag to be used on social media, per CBS.

Facebook and Instagram pages have been created, but are not active. Will share the link when they are officially available.

Forget about Tyler Perry in any capacity other than lending his impressive ATL studio for The Gates. Still hoping ATL is chosen for the setting, but I am committed to this new soap no matter where they choose.

Believe me when I say that I would love to forget about him but the reality is that he has many talented Black actresses, among them former soap actresses on speed dial.

If there's one thing I appreciate about Perry is the job opportunities he affords POC. The scripts may be shït, but at least they're working!

And I believe he pays them above what other productions do.

Mhmm; I know during COVID he housed his casts on the lot so productions could continue, etc.

The man writes some shockingly bad scripts. Just watch one episode of The Oval. It makes B&B look like Masterpiece Theater. That being said, he obviously has an audience and makes a ton of money off of his low budget productions.

Not to be funny or anything but those other productions have writers to pay while he doesn’t.

It's been my experience that my fellow African-Americans will watch just about any film or TV series that features us because even terrible representation is better than no representation at all.

This is true and the lower production values are a factor too. But to actors that doesn't much matter and all they see is being given opportunities that the aren't offered by networks and that makes it easy for him to retain and hire actors.

Yes, especially among older viewers who were around when a few supporting Black characters on mostly White series were the only representation.

Yep, was about to post that. The Talk cancelled and ending in December. I'm guessing they're going to aim for The Gates to premiere either late 2024/early 2025. There's literally no reason for them to end The Talk earlier if they didn't have a plan for The Gates.

Where is that "it's happening" Ron Paul gif, or should we not jinx it?

Suck it, Les Moonves, whatever billion dollar hideaway you're in as I type this.
