You mean Jerry Ver Dorn? If so, he made a valiant effort at stepping into Buchanan boots, ... Clint. They say he succeeded.

No the Jared person mentioned above

Jared Kaplan is who I think you meant. He was a writer's assistant under Ron Carlivati at ABC OLTL, and was a producer on OLTL 2.0.

Yes that's who, I knew the name was familiar

Thank you for getting Erika’s statement Errol.

SID had quotes from Gina Tognoni, Frank Dicoupolous and Robert Newman https://www.soapsindepth.com/gallery/guiding-light/a-special-tribute-to-soap-star-jerry-verdorn

SOD posted a roundup with others already shared and included an email statement from Amanda Setton. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/stars-react-to-jerry-verdorns-passing/

soapshub had a long statement from Michael O’Leary who found over the phone from Grant Alexander and one from Kim Zimmer in two different articles.

Sorry my cut and paste is broken…

Thanks for these, @~bl~. I'd been scanning their socials.

The Soaphub tributes from Kim, etc. are here:

Amanda Setton and Carlivati's messages at SOD are kind of tucked away for those who saw the earlier article before revisions, so here.

Setton:

Quote

I am so very sorry to hear this news. I was so fortunate to have worked with Jerry early in my career. I learned so much from him. I remember we would often run lines in his dressing room, classical music playing and all. His preparation and commitment to his craft was inspiring. He was an incredible actor, the consummate professional; prepared, present, supportive, and kind. He treated everyone with such respect and admiration. We have lost someone special. I am holding his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Carlivati:

Quote

Sad to hear the news that Jerry Ver Dorn has passed away. Jerry stepped into the role of Clint Buchanan in 2005 and quickly made it his own, playing a loving husband and father and eventually a very convincing villain, although the man himself was all heart. Rest in peace. #OLTL

Michael O'Leary, Jean Carol and others got tucked away in a separate article as well for some reason:

“Grant Alexander [Phillip Spaulding] called me yesterday with the news,” shares his former co-star, Michael O’Leary (Rick Bauer). “I’m still so sad, I feel like I could cry at any moment. Jerry was a leader among men, he was the personification of class and character. He was the unifier between us and management. He was our present day Bert Bauer, if I can say such a thing.

“He was the leader of our show and a leader for a reason,” O’Leary continues. “He did the speeches for our Christmas shows and Thanksgiving because that’s who Jerry was. Jerry was the personification of kindness at all times — to everyone. He always approached people with openness, kindness and we became very close. I looked up to Jerry, got advice from him.

“The last time I saw him was in Crystal Chappell’s [Olivia Spencer] web series, Venice, where we played two goofballs who were handymen at this haunted house,” O’Leary adds. “He looked me and said, ‘This is probably the last time I’ll be doing something like this.’ That was a year and half ago. That was the last time I saw him. My heart goes out to Beth and the rest of the family.”

Elvera Roussel (Hope Bauer):

“Jerry and I started on Guiding Light on the same day,” Elvera Roussel, who played Hope Bauer on Guiding Light, tells Soap Hub. “He had entire courtroom scenes with many pages of courtroom dialogue and all I had to memorize was ‘Grandma, I’m home!’ From the first day I met Jerry, I just knew he was the best. He and I would travel together, promoting the show on weekends. We jokingly referred to each other as ‘weekend spouses.’ I’m glad I was able to see him at his charity benefits in more recent years.”

Jean Carol (Nadine Cooper):

"I auditioned with Jerry in addition to Beth Ehlers [Harley] for the screen test and he was great fun and he was game for trying some improvisational things,” shared Jean Carol to Soap Hub. “He was very supportive and great to work with. It’s a real loss. He was so talented and quite the gentleman.”

Probably went overboard but frankly these quotes are buried in multiple different articles nesting within each other, so I thought I'd try to sort it out.

In one of the articles, it said that Jerry verDorn contemplated becoming an English teacher. He would have made a wonderful English teacher.

Given the wonderful monologues he often had on GL, he would have made a terrific speech teacher as well.

2:03 in really illustrates what an emotional cornerstone Ross and Jerry’s portrayal had become to GL by this point. Jerry never made scenes like this come off as too saccharine or insincere, he was just so believable.

I don't know if she has an IG, but Cynthia Watros simply posted this:

The man who painstakingly edited and uploaded all those clip sets was killed not too long before GL was canceled. I think he would have been proud to know Cynthia was using his work to honor Jerry.

Truly sad news.  Clint was one of those roles that always seemed so singular to the original actor that I was surprised how much I loved him on OLTL.  I came to his better days as Ross long after GL was cancelled, but he really had a sparkle there.  You could tell he relished playing characters that had intelligence.

YES!!!! I love this clip! Cynthia saw my post on Facebook back in either 2013 or 2014. I was going through finals and I was acting completely neurotic that day as I had spent so much time prepping for my studies. So, I posted that clip and she sent me a private message with a wink emoticon, lol! THAT made my day and my exams went smooth sailing after that. Oh, my sweet little Annie Dutton always bringing cheer in my life. 🥰
