Agree.

I miss Hope, but I don't see a point in recasting her either.

Let's see, if I were heading up the (alleged) DAYS "clean sweep"...

Abigail, Allie, Ava, Belle, Ben, Bonnie (or just reveal she’s really Adrienne), Brady, Chad, Chanel, Chloe, Ciara, Craig, Gabi, Gwen, EJ, Eli, Jake, Jan, Johnny, Kristen, Lani, Lucas, Nancy, Paulina, Rafe, Rex, Roman (or bring back Wayne Northrop and have Josh Taylor resume playing Chris), Sarah, Shawn, Susan, Tripp and Xander.

That should free up some cash.

Usually, I adore the messy Brady-Evans-Black family; but I don't like the possession storyline, so I haven't watched them much in the past few months.

Currently...
Allie and Chanel are my favorite characters right now.  They feel like real people to me - flawed but worth cheering on.  I pretty much fast-forward everything else.

For the future...
I loved the Eric/Nicole pairing.  If/when Greg Vaughan returns, I'm curious to see if the show knows how to write Eric/Nicole and will he remain a priest?  I think the actors could bring it, but I'm dubious about the writing.

That's 90% of the cast

Seriously though, I wouldn't be mad if KA came back.  I just don't regularly miss her.   But i have never been a huge Hope fan.

Again: Hope isn't presently needed, but recasting her is at least as doomed a concept as Kristen. At least with Missy Reeves people were over her and she was clearly over the role.

Hope has a lot more goodwill towards her character then Jen.  But MR bolting because she couldn't handle her personal business left a bad taste in my mouth long before her more problematic behavior came to light.  I think Hope probably took more hits as a character over the years than Jen though.  Jen can stand better on her own as a character without Jack, but Hope seems to need Bo.

That's kind of how I feel.

I like Hope but I can take or leave her. I'd like her there for family stuff but I'm not really missing her either.

I'm open to any character being recast except J&M, Sami and a few others.

Actually, that would leave the following:

Abe, Anna, Doug, Jennifer (unless I couldn’t get Cady McClain back and on-contract), John (even though I’d really love to get rid of him!), Julie, Justin, Kate, Kayla, Maggie, Marlena (even though I’d really love to get rid of her!), Nicole, Steve, Tony, Valerie (if I could get back Tina Andrews) and Victor.

And I'm only keeping on Doug, Julie, Maggie and Victor, because I feel uncomfortable writing out aging and/or ailing actors.  I wouldn't use them heavily, but I wouldn't eighty-six them either.

So, lol?

It's not as if I'd have Marlena wake up one morning to find Bobby Ewing John in the shower while Tommy Westphall -- I mean, Theo Carver -- is downstairs playing with one of his snow globes.  I'd phase out most of the cast gradually -- like, say, over a week or two?

Besides, it's much better than the plans I have for GH:

You know I thought about B&B recasting Thorne again, this time going with a familiar yet lesser known actor like they did with KA as Taylor instead some name star with baggage like Ingo. I don’t know where Thorne would fit in but since the show feels like it is phasing out the Spencers minus Liam at the moment I see a pathway for Thorne to return.

As for Y&R I also thought about possible cast cuts but the show feels so bare bones it doesn’t solve any of Y&R’s real issues at all. I am not sure how TIIC dropped the ball in negotiations with Mealor and King last summer while in the middle of a story and had to do very quick sloppy rewrites for a sudden exit for the pair but Morina & Griffith are long overdue to be fired for gross incompetence.

Of course if the “one star who has previously received walking papers”  turns out to be Michelle Stafford I think that would be perfectly acceptable. Phyllis has become a dead end character ever since she came back and is completely irrelevant.  Same goes with MCE as Chelsea.

Blind item #1
One show is on the active hunt to recast a major character who has been off the canvas.

Hope? Luke? Stephanie? Thorn?

Blind item #2
Scheduling conflicts may force a soap to say good-bye to a popular rising star.

-Courtney Hope.

Blind item #3
Look for a round of exits to hit one sudser, including one star who has previously received walking papers.

-General Hospital.

He sure did!!!!!!!!

I understand the need to wrap Hope's story up in someway, but I'd be happier with it happening off screen and being told what the solution is. They haven't been able to write a successful story for her for many years and her love interest is dead, so what's the point? Just have her come back to Salem and have Belle, Shawn, Ciara and Ben recap her scenes explaining she's getting married or whatever and leave her off screen.

The rising star vet blind is likely about Lamon Archey. Hasn't his role on All American been expanded? Plus he's on recurring, so I'm sure he's at least looking for more opportunities outside of Days. The cast cuts have to be Days. I won't even entertain it being one of the other three.

    • Thanks for that. It was great to see her in an interview. She's very likable. Although it was somewhat confusing. What new soap is she talking about going on audition for in 1973. Was it The Young and the Restless? The editing around that part was weird and choppy. I felt like there was a chunk missing or something. And I'm not sure why she was saying she got colorectal cancer from HPV and said it's because she never got the HPV vaccine but then said she's never had anal sex. I'm not a doctor but that didn't seem to make any medical sense. I don't know. Maybe I'm tired. It just seemed like some of this interview didn't make sense.
    • If it helps any, the last script cover from the Elman papers that I have is from episode #3,736 airdate November 15, 1977. Writers are the Hollands with Frank Salisbury.
    • B&B really does look incredible. The lighting and the polished sets have made a significant difference how visually appealing the show is now.
    • I found the problem with the Labine era was that the show lost some humour when the Labines came on and it could be dull. They also didn't seem to understand some of the characters. As others have said, it looks fantastic in comparison to the next regime but I just remember boredom being the primary response.
    • Something I didn't realize: Frank Ashmore, who played Monica's investigator Corrigan in 1981, was also Victor, the third guy in the cockpit, in Airplane!
    • Thanks, maybe I will skim through those episodes.  I have previously binged late 1985 through early 1987; April-June, August 1992 (I skipped Carlo Hesser murder trial), Jan-March 1995 and I began watching in 2006. I just struggle to stay consistent with routines especially binging routines haha
    • I could've sworn we went over the Bobbie thing a while ago, and saw her introduced to Rick and Lesley as "Nurse Barbara" in very late '77? Or was that early '78? I know the clip is online. Jackie always credited Marland with creating her IIRC.
    • Thanks.  Loon Lake - very on the nose. With that "dad" outfit Bo looks even more like Cassie's father...
    • Luna parachutes herself into Llanview at the end of September 15th 1991.
    • That lengthy flashback does make me wonder if she threw out a lot, but I agree it may have been too easy an urban legend. Would these have been her very first episodes? I imagine you could feel the big difference when Bobbie arrived, alongside the Quartermaines filing in, the return of Heather, and Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan heating up. It does remind me that there must have been some dud moments in the 60-minute format we just don't see because little of the period is available in full.  I wonder how much longer the Dantes lasted under Marland.  David Hamilton is so disgusting. I appreciate the show making him disgust as some shows when they have stories about older men or women manipulating teens aren't as honest.  I can't see this Rick being friends with him. Chris Robinson's Rick, on the other hand, I could believe.
