At this point I don’t know how they’d do it. Recast or with JJ it would be a hard sell, because he’s abandoned his kids for so long (even if you only consider Aiden his child and ignore the fact that he raised Cam for years) and the show never mentions him being a presence in their life. Aiden visited him once for Christmas years ago. I guess that would but the storyline, why he abandoned them so long and didn’t even show up when his sister went into a vegetative state or when Franco died.  People around here have heard JJ is open to it, but since Nashville ended he moved his whole family to Ireland so I’m not so sure about that.

Also, to be fair there isn't much reason for Kim to be on.  There's no Andrew and Theresa and Eve aren't onscreen.  She is still, as far as we know, with Shane who isn't a fixture on the show.   The most she could do is something with Tate and hang out with Kayla, Roman, John, and Marlena.   I actually prefer Kim to Kayla, but I really don't see a point of bringing her back with all the characters we already have in her age range.   I do think she is someone who could pop in and out though.

Worst written death ever (or whatever it was supposed to be, I'm still not sure). It was like the writers just woke up one day, realized the actress was no longer available, and threw in a line of dialogue saying "oh, by the way, too bad this character died off screen".

You know you have failed as a writer when the viewers' reaction to a major character's death is "wait, when did that happen, there's got to be an episode missing". No emotional payoff whatsoever, just total confusion.

I haven't watched the soaps in a very long time (save for the vintage DS and TD) so I'm not 100% sure on this but the character of Victor Collins (as played by Nicholas Pryor) was so endearing on PC, it was too bad that relationship with his son, Kevin, didn't get carried over to GH.

BTW, speaking of Kevin Collins, has his daughter Livvie (who was a character on Port Charles) been eradicated from existence since he's back on GH? Or did they ever refer to her or recast her? I get the feeling a lot of stuff from PC was wiped off the board, so to speak, when it came to integrating or reintegrating actors/characters to GH.

As I understand it (correct me of I'm wrong) GH let Greg Vaugn go so JJ could return? As much as I enjoyed the entirety Lucky and Liz from the late 90s, in JJ's second run the writers trashed the charachter and the couple to me. Moreover, JJ only stayed on for two years.

I'm surprised Y&R never brought back Olivia, Mary Jo, or Keemo.

Since GH is making more of an effort to add black charachters to the canvas I'm surprised Keesha isn't being brought back. At least they connected Trina to Taggert, I thought she was going to be rated to the Wards or Claudia from the 80s.

I hated the second return of JJ as well and since he ran as soon as he could, I can’t imagine he’s open to coming back. But who knows.

I think GH should expand Trina’s family, bring back Gia and a cousin for Trina. But that’s a bit beyond the scope of this topic.

So much JJ crying.  His career has been decent but you have to think he'd be willing to comeback.   He's still young and has a family to support as it doesn't seem like his wife still acts.

I would love a Gia comeback.  Does Marisa Ramirez still act?  I just loved her.

Lol! just googled her and realized she a series regular on Blue Bloods.  Probably not coming back  I haven't watched CBS since Shemar Moore was on Criminal Minds haha

    • The horrific comments execs and writers make when they justify rape storylines or keeping rapists as love interests is just so icky. I remember Ron Carlivati's comments about the reraping of Marty storyline on OLTL. Made my skin crawl.  No matter what you think of her, Susan Lucci could have demanded front burner storylines but she never did. She was happy to be part of an ensemble. I never got that vibe from Zimmer.  For me, Reva was just not a character I cared that much about after a certain point no matter how talented Zimmer is/was. I think Zimmer had a keener eye for what made a good storyline, but she was less willing to take a backseat if it meant someone else got to shine. I'm trying to recall if she ever mentions Michelle Forbes in her book--one of the few times the viewers did not care about Reva in a storyline. My sense is if she did, it was probably some backhanded remark about how she had to show Forbes the ropes.
    • GH was good? I havent watched since Joss went away to do her traininig and Lulu had just called Brooklyn out for having Dante's baby and not telling him

    • There has been some confusion about Michael & facial burns. Please see this post: https://bsky.app/profile/shallotpeel.bsky.social/post/3lqkrryu54226 I've chosen to put this here instead of the Classic Thread because it is now with the appearance of recast Michael that this has come up. Different places online, including at least one podcast, remarks have been made about how remarkable it is that he is without facial scarring. Other fans say it was clear from the first that he did not have facial burns. What is included in this post is 2 screengrabs where you can see his face at the hospital & a very quick edit of that day in the hospital.
    • Put me in the LOVE KMH camp. As a poster alluded to above, her detractors seem to come from people who first experienced the 80s Emily actress. And that's often the case with soaps, myself included. I enjoy the original actor so much that I just never take to the recast. However, KMH played Emily far longer than the original - for almost 20 years - and when she had great material, she was great. I get the sense she didn't like playing the whiny oh-woe-is-me Emily which was all the material she got from about 1996 until she took over the Intruder in late '99/early '00 and got to play a stronger kiss-ass woman who didn't care what anyone thought of her. (Some would call that a bitch but, if a man was in that role, he'd just be called a smart and savvy businessman.) Her relationship with Hal was great. The transformation was done realistically and I thoroughly enjoyed those years the best out of all. Once the writers decided to break up those two, they went back to writing Emily half the time as whiny and pathetic. I preferred when the writers made her stronger.
    • Hahaha - I do. I've always been the type, though, that can't miss anything. I get FOMO, so I'll not skip episodes or fast forward anything. There are only a few TV shows I've dropped because they got so bad vs. sticking it out to the end.  The promise that GL 1997 is better is what keeps me going. I especially want to see the fallout of Blake's lie about her twins and then Annie's descent which I believe won Watros's Emmy.
    • Rita's rape is an episode i constantly search on YouTube hoping one day that it will show up. I always feel like I may have seen it, but I was only 6 at the time and can never figure any of the things I have vague recollection of
